Mancow Waterboarding Faked!

Thanks to Allahpundit for tweeting this.

So did he fake it?  That’s my assertion, based on Gawker getting some emails that seem to corroborate this premise:

Now, here’s the key email in the exchange, with Shafran saying in no uncertain terms that the whole thing is being staged as a hoax:

You are a ROCK STAR!!!

It is going to have to look “real” but of course would be simulated with Mancow acting like he is drowning. It will be a hoax but have to look real. Would be great if they could dress in fatigues and bring whatever is needed. We will supply the water

There’s a lot more at Gawker, including more emails, so make sure you read all of it.  But I’d like to highlight a couple of things.

First, the technique used for Hitchens was COMPLETELY different than the technique for Mancow. It’s so different that it honestly looks like they are just pouring water on Mancow’s face.  That’s it.  If you listen to Hitchens describe his endeavor, he talks about a smothering feeling that you get from the towel and the mask when he tried to hold his breath.  I dare say that Mancow got much more than water up his nose.

Second, notice how they pour the water in Hitchens’ vs Mancow’s.  Again, very different.

Lastly, it looks like Mancow is holding his breath.  And no, you don’t need to breathe in first to hold your breath.  Just try it.  Now watch his neck when they start pouring the water.  His veins in his neck pop out a little, which suggests he is holding his breath, which would mean he is shutting off the passage way to his lungs. Even I hold my breath when I swin underwater.  Water goes up my nose but I never drown or even feel like it.

Gawker also points out other differences in which both waterboardings were carried out.  Hitchen’s looks scary as hell, while Mancow’s looks like something we might all try.

Either way, the more I look at it in combo with the emails that Gawker provides, the more I believe it’s a fake. Here’s the 2 videos for you to decide. What do you think?

CNN: Largest Drop in Ratings for May 2009

With only three days of May remaining, it appears now that May  is going to be a difficult month for all 4 major news networks, but CNN will see the largest drop in average monthly viewership for the month of May in both the demo and total viewership.  On the flip side, it appears that MSNBC will see the least percentage drop.

The graphs below don’t depict the average viewership per month for each network, only the percentage loss for May.  I’ll post the new monthly numbers as soon as May is complete.

Problem: North Korea – Answer: Nuclear Japan

Charles Krauthammer says the game is over with North Korea (as they fire another missle) and the solution is a nuclear Japan.  He explains:

24 Hour News: 2009 Prime Time Battle: April

For the first time, and thanks to TVNewser.com, I’ve pitted the major 24 hour news services against each other in graphical format.  Each graph represents average viewers per month, for a given demo, for a given time slot.  This data only represents 2009, excluding only a few days where the results were skewed/inaccurate due to the inauguration or a presidential speech.  Enjoy. Especially the hours where MSNBC’s viewership is fading because of dribble like this.

Space Shuttle Atlantis Landing With Crew Announcement

Atlantis has landed and all the crew are safe. They have all completed their medical checks and looked great as they shook hands with Nasa coworkers.  Enjoy the video.

Prime Time 2009: MSNBC Ratings Sinking Fast

Using data from TVNewser.com, I’ve figured out the average viewership per month for the talking heads at both Fox News and MSNBC. Notice who is on the rise, who is coasting, and, well, who will probably need a bailout before the end of the year.  And what’s up with Greta?

China vs US in Best Stimulus Package – China Wins.

I’m interested in this for several reasons.  First, it’s strange to hear something negative about Obama from the loyal media on the local NPR station.  Second, it affirms something that many of us already knew, that the stimulus didn’t stimulate much of anything except dependence on the government. And thirdly, China spent less stimulus money in a more effective way. Imagine that.

I’m certainly not one to cheer on a country who has killed so many babies and jailed both men and women for being a non-government Christian, and I’ll not do it now.  This clip is more a reflection of the level of brilliance that runs our great country.

Barney Frank: Don’t Be Unfair to Bush

I never thought I would hear Barney Frank encourage others NOT to be unfair to Bush. It doesn’t make sense, unless it has something to do with political expediency. Judge for yourself:

Jesse Ventura And Hannity Reminisce About Old Times

Seven and a half mintues of great tv on Hannity tonight as he and Jesse Ventura go several rounds about Bush.

I do like the comment near the end about Monica Lewinsky.

Al Gore: Make that 2 Lies.

On May 15, Al Gore spoke on CNN and not only said that he waited 2 years to criticize Bush but also accused Cheney of invading a country that wasn’t a serious threat to the United States.  Now Allahpundit at Hot Air has covered the first lie thoroughly so I won’t go into it here.  But the second part where he states that Iraq wasn’t a serious threat to the United States, well we’ve got the video proof that he is suffering from a memory loss:

I guess it’s inconvenient to still believe that Iraq was a serious threat, especially in the current political environment.  Sure, Iraq didn’t have WMD’s, but Gore never really touches on that in his speech.  Instead he seems to have been motivated less by principal and more by finishing a job that was left regrettably unfinished. Sounds like he knew Saddam would always be a threat until he was taken out.  Enter George W. Bush.

But like Pelosi, Gore changes with the winds of political expediency; something we’ve come to expect from most of our government advocates.
