    Go Rick!

    • PFFV

Well it feels like 2008 all over again !@#$%&&^%$#@! The majority of people in Michigan are blithering idiots! Man am I disappointed. Romney the plastic man / manikin bought this state with his mega-millions in smear ads. Barring a miracle, I think our nation is already half way down the toilet. If people think RomneyCare is the answer they sure are stupid. Tonight we have an overwhelming amount of stupid.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Steven-Valdez/1806887704 Steven Valdez

we are bankrupt in so many ways except for having a surplus of stupid people.

      • klaffner

Funny. I was thinking the same thing about the folks who voted for Santorum. Don’t worry. You will come around. Romney is fine once you get past whatever it is that has you so bothered.

BTW: The last time Romney had a good night, he lost the next three in a row.

        • PFFV

The problem is that everything about Romney bothers me. He has been on each side of every issue. Here we go, McSame all over again! Next thing you know the manikin will brand himself as a ‘Maverick’. I am going to get sick, excuse me>>>>> Raaaalph!

          • Sober_Thinking

            To klaffner…

That’s like saying “this is only going to hurt a little”

I’d take Ron Paul over Romney… Romney is the worst of the 3 candidates. I’m sorry you bought what he was selling.

            • klaffner

Not to worry. We will all be on the same team when the nomination is done.

              • Sober_Thinking

                Well, true dat.

        • DavidRobertson

And how am I supposed to get past the fact that this guy will do nothing to repeal Obamacare except a dumb executive order? Or how am I supposed to get past his idiotic 59 point economic plan? It is 59 more ways to get in the way…or perhaps I should get over his inability to be a conservative….I don’t know…what should I be getting over?

          • PFFV

Spot on David! I fear we will get stuck with Romney and have to pray he does something to reverse course. My Gut says RomneyCare won’t do anything to repeal ObamaCare and this will our nations death knell, the final kiss of death to our future generations right to pursue happiness will be no more. Less Government Now! Time is running out, this is why I get so mad at these Romney supporters. Preaching to the choir here I’m sure…lol! Have a great day; we will keep up the good fight until the end :-)

          • klaffner

David. this is enlightening. If you really think that is all Romney wants to do about ObamaCare is issue an exec order, then that makes sense that you do NOT support him. I have good news. You don’t have to worry about Romney on ObamaCare. Allow me to explain. The exec order is something the President can do on his own and without regard to congress. He can do this on day one and he has committed to do so. Repeal requires congressional action. Romney has also committed to a full repeal. Of course that requires cooperation with and from congress. You must have missed this. I hope this helps you change your mind about Romney.

            • DavidRobertson

It is not lost on me klaffner. I certainly understand the roles of the 3 branches, and what it takes to repeal. The difference between you and I is that you believe he has the stones to do it. I don’t think he does. I can see him coming a mile away. We’ll be reduced to a conversation about “how to do it better”.

I’ve read that entire 150+ page pdf from Romney. Furthermore, I’m a member of his church and have plenty of peers who constantly remind me how great he is. As a person, I’m sure he is. However, he’s done nothing as Governor or otherwise that would suggest that he even understands what conservative means or what we base our ideology on. For some of us, being a business man is not enough prescription to get this country back on track.

          I like your last statement.

      • Sober_Thinking

I share your contempt. Romney is a slime and the fact that people are buying his negative ads and BS is a sad indictment of America.

Hey sweets… I’m waiting for the polls to close … so anxious what Mittnochio’s fate will be, or Santo’s for that matter.

I put up Newt’s avatar for you to enjoy… it won’t stay there long. He’s a cutie eh!

      • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanborninCanada

Hey las1! I know, I was stuck on the Michigan results page like white on rice, but I couldn’t take it. I’ll go back every 5 minutes or so lol. Newt (your precious pup) IS ADORABLE!!!! How sweet for you! Thanks for putting him up again so I could see him. He looks very intelligent just like his namesake. :-D

  • dcarter888

Given Santo is sleeping with Obama & democrats and Union thugs you better put Santorum/Obama on the chart above. This is backfiring nationwide for Santo. Sorry, Michael Moore is not a Reagan Democrat. CNN had interviews with people who basically admitted they would vote for Obama in general. This is backfiring on Santo

As long as he does not change his views to attract the dems he should get votes from anywhere he can. A vote is a vote is a vote.

    • drphibes

      It’s called an open primary.

    • stevenbiot

You are the one at parties that everyone asks, ” Who invited him/her,” aren’t you?

      • las1

… just driving by with Romney flags flapping from his windows.

      • nibblesyble

He does have a point, the dems that are voting against Romney are in no way Reagan dems. They are full on Obama-loving liberals who are happy to muck things up.

        • drphibes

Does this mean the left fears Romney, so they’d rather run against Santorum? This is getting confusing.

          • nibblesyble

I think they have had a long history of playing games, not sure this is about Romney or Santorum but just a devious way to make things interesting!

        • keyesforpres

So? If Santorum gets the nomination you don’t think the Rep. that voted for Romney won’t vote for Santorum?

          • 3seven77

Nibbles was talking about DEMS that “voted” for Santorum (this was an open primary so folks from either party could vote). There is no way that those DEMS will vote for Santorum against Obama.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ricardo-Galvan/100001729378103 Ricardo Galvan

I don’t understand why the GOP allows Open Primaries in the GOP NOMINATION PROCESS. We have leftists here mucking up our election process. This is sickening everytime I bloody see it.

After this ugly and backward nomination process is over, we need to seriously start pressuring our leaders to make changes to the system. The whole thing is obviously designed to benefit the most moderate/left Republican. It gives them all the advantages. They win the early, left states giving them a lot of momentum before even one good red state gets a chance.

      • librtifirst

I believe that caucus votes, and primary votes, can be, and are, tallied for whoever the establishment wants to win. They don’t just give it all to one person. They have to bring out their guy as a frontrunner first, then downgrade him to make it look like a race. In the end, he will just squeeze it out. Happens every time. Its always a close election. Why? Is the country really, always, evenly split? I don’t think so.

      • TPDanbo

It is designed to favor the most left/moderate candidate that’s because it’s put in place by GOP elites who HATE CONSERVATISM,and believe our main choice should be left/moderate!

    • http://no-apologies-round2.blogspot.com/ AmericanborninCanada

You do realize that mittens didn’t mind when the GOP in Michigan asked for an open primary do you not? Since it’s an OPEN PRIMARY, Santorum is doing the prudent thing and trying to appeal to independents and disenfranchised democrats who have major buyer’s remorse over dear leader. Gee, getting along with independents and democrats. Sounds like something mitt “I’m good friends with splash kennedy” romney would do in Mass. doesn’t it.

    • keyesforpres

As opposed to what? If it helps Santorum win Michigan how does it backfire for him. If Santorum gets the nomination do you think we’ll vote for Obama because dems voted for Santorum in the primary? Not!

I am a big Newt fan. He is my guy but it is down to Santorum in Mich to beat Romney. I’ve got my fingers crossed and every other appendage I can cross for a Rick win in Ohio and in Mich. What a big ol’ smackdown that would be for FrankenRomney, the one person I truly loathe……

Romney does not attract independents or democrats if he did they would swing the election his way in Mich. I liked Ricks response earlier when he said Romney didn’t say squat when 53% of the voters in New Hampshire were Democrat and voted for him….

    Wahhhhhhh…..

Go Newt !!! Go Rick !!!! Anyone but Romney

    • PFFV

Well I voted for Santorum today so you can’t blame this Michigan voter if he loses :-)

CNN must have got bored of Newt’s speech and cut it off. =/

    • las1

My son and I listened to Newt’s NRA speech. Unbelievable!

It blows me away that he’s overlooked. The guy towers in the clouds above everyone else. His grasp and facility with history and his understanding of the significance of American history… outstanding.

He needs to be in the White House. Period!

      • Is_Sense_Common

Not overlooked, just lurking. I think he’s letting Rick & Mittens bloody themselves while he prepares for a throw-down on Super Tuesday.

        • las1

You’re right… he’s not overlooked. They’ve simply structured a deliberate Cordon sanitaire around him. I’m waiting for a third resurrection of the man… America needs him.

          • jaym68

Too bad Texas was/is delayed… would have been helpful to Newt
to have it sooner rather than later.

            • http://www.facebook.com/people/Steven-Valdez/1806887704 Steven Valdez

Santorum is leading in Texas right now, it’s actually better if it’s later for Newt.

              • jaym68

                Thanks, I didn’t know that.

                • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ricardo-Galvan/100001729378103 Ricardo Galvan

The clown “evangelicals” in Texas endorsed Santorum early on, even when Perry was still in the race. They’re the ones seen in photos forming prayer circles around Santorum, even though he’s a Catholic. Definitely not what I’m used to amongst the typical Southern Baptist. I’ll vote for a Catholic, and see no problem forming coalitions (even though the Catholic Church is usually sleeping with the Dems in every election), but it’s different when you start embracing ecumenicism for the sake of politics.

These fools are going to be in for a rude awakening when they realize all the religious and social platitudes Santorum was stumping on were designed to cover up his record and platform.

                • jaym68

I just hope they get their ‘rude awakening’ before the TX primary and switch their vote over to Newt!

                • jaym68

I just hope they get their ‘rude awakening’ before the TX primary and switch their vote over to Newt!

              • capelady

Santorum has had the momentum, his time in the sun, but I believe that will wane just as it has for everyone else. Only Newt has proven that he can rise from the ashes like the phoenix… he has done it before and he can do it again. The man is tenacious!!! If you watch the documentary hosted by Bill Kurtis in 1994 about Newt leading the Republican Revolution in Congress – he was amazing! The liberal opposition was formidable, but he was not phased. What he was able to accomplish was absolutely historic and with more support from the GOP establishment, he could have done even more!

                • 3seven77

“What he was able to accomplish was absolutely historic and with more support from the GOP establishment, he could have done even more!”

This is exactly why the GOP establishment doesn’t want Newt. The GOP Establishment has a nice little system set up where everybody who comes into Congress a mere pauper goes out a millionaire. The Repubs put on a nice front promising to “fight” for us, but when Obama speechifies they roll over on their backs like beaten dogs. They are Useless Wimps.

The GOP establishment knows that Newt Gingrich will kick asses and take names. Newt will hold their feet to the fire to accomplish things. He will rock their safe little world. Scary thought for those Useless Wimps.

        • capelady

I think Santorum may implode… and when he does, Newt is the true conservative who will fill the void!!!

Romney can only win if the establishment forces it – and they are having buyer’s remorse because he has proven to be such a weak candidate. Romney cannot communicate well or connect with people – there is no way he can compete with Newt one-on-one!

          • FreeManWalking

Ha ha ha ha how ka ka ka ka can ya ya ya ya you sa sa sa sa sa say he can’t ca ca ca ca communicate?

while we’re all waiting for rick to implode Rombo will be racking up the delegates
this guy needs to be stopped. He’s not going to beat obama.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Steven-Valdez/1806887704 Steven Valdez

He hasn’t been overlooked, he’s had his moment in the spotlight a couple of times, perhaps a third time will be the charm?

        • stevenbiot

He’s good, but not better than Rick.

          • capelady

He is much better than Rick… his tax reform plan is more comprehensive, he has a plan to bring the judiciary back under the Constitution (Rick only says he will appoint conservative judges – that is not enough), and he has the unique experience of leading a historically successful conservative revolution in Washington before… none of the other candidates can do that. He politically astute and knows how to get things done, even working with Bill Clinton and a Democrat-led Senate. He is the only one who can beat Obama because he is a far better communicator than Rick Santorum and he can inspire Americans to hope for the future again!

Thanks very much! I turned off the tube about an hour ago as I really can’t get too worked up over this primary. I would rather spend my time watching Newt give another inspiring, great speech.

            • Linky1

Just wait for the results to come in. Can’t stand the whine fest from either Mittens or the political tools on TV.

Just finished watching. All I can add to your comment is WOW, just WOW. That was so great, I don’t know where to start. 1000 Likes if I could do that! Newt always does a great job of bringing history into the context of life today. I’ve heard him speak on a lot of topics but this was the first I’ve heard him speak on the topic dedicated the the 2nd Amendment.

For those here in the Scoop community I would consider this a MUST SEE. I think most of you will enjoy and agree.

            Thanks again las1.

Send it to Scoop and ask him to post it. A few of us doing that will get his attention over all the spam he probably gets. Send it to all your friends as well on facebook or whatever other medium you use. This speech is powerful and demonstrates why Newt is superior to all the other candidates we’ve had in a very long time.

Look around on Youtube for a video by the same folks discussing Anatoliy Golitsyn. Herbert Philbrick videos are also a great thing as well.

      • capelady

You are so right, and Newt is the only one who is going to be able to beat Obama! He has the knowledge, the substantive solutions and the communication skills to inspire Americans to hope for the future again, just as Reagan did.

Do you have a link for the NRA speech? I haven’t heard it. If you haven’t heard his American Dream speech, or the one he gave for David Horowitz called Victory or Death (in 2009 before he decided to run) check it out on You Tube… AMAZING!

Newt is the one the establishment and Obama are afraid of – that is why they do everything they can to black him out. Those in Congress who oppose him dislike him because he refused their pork projects so he could balance the budget when he was Speaker. He insists he isn’t going to Washington to make friends (unlike Romney!)… Washington is broken, and he knows how to fix it!!!

        • MaxineCA

las1 provided it on the reply to me. Here it is. It will blow your socks off!

          • FreeManWalking

            Thanks Maxine

Rinomney used the word Resolute to describe himself. Ha ha ha and i ain’t stammering. Calling himself resolute was as funny as Newt calling himself Cheerful.

When the camera, pans to the audience you see RESOLUTE on the faces of those sitting in the audience.

I’m a Cali~ native, and haven’t you heard, we are no longer part of the union. SARC/ I’m behind Newt, alway’s have been. BTW: Cali~ is still Reagan country in my book. I also work for the E biz, I’m a stunt woman– I know…… it’s interesting because I’m a staunch Conservative and you would not believe the stuff I put up with doing my job!!! “Lol”

Also too– love and support Sarah and like many who supported her, very disappointed with her announcement Oct. 5Th, sigh!

                • nibblesyble

                • CGpatriot

O.k. I’ll bite– I’ve done many westerns. The last western gig I did was working for HBOs… series Deadwood? I do stunt work with different pic’s for Paramount and Disney etc. Just the like many in America, my work as slowed down also. I’m not part of SAG: I’m a private contractor, and get many offers through word of mouth, sorta like– who’s who in the biz……! It’s really about ones reputation for stunt folks etc.

It’s not that exciting, it’s more like a big “baby sitting” job for these self absorb libholes, honestly– they’re wimps. However– I will say there are many more Conservatives in the industry then you know. Its’s easier to come out as being “a gay person”, then someone who is Conservative! O.K. enough about me…… :)

                • nibblesyble

Looooove it! So cool, I love a strong butt-kicking woman! Especially since the only danger I get in is perhaps a papercut when I read books! Glad to hear there is some conservatives in the industry. keep the faith!

Is that Dingle’s old district? If so, the unions turned out for Santorum.

  • Stehekin912

Those of you who are knowledgeable – I thought delegates had to be proportional if the primary was before April 1…? How is Arizona a winner-take-all delegate state?

    • Mensaman62

I think only if they moved up the primary

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ricardo-Galvan/100001729378103 Ricardo Galvan

It can’t. It has to be proportional. Unless the GOP is screwing us again like they did with Florida.

  • jaym68

    Flipping now…

    20%
    Romney 41%
    Santorum 38%

    but it’s still early…

    • BankGuy

lots of purple on the map right now.

      • drphibes

i guess the lead can jump around as various districts get counted. it’s statistically too close to call.

  • xjesterx

This is from the 2008 election:

“The 2008 Michigan Republican primary took place on January 15, 2008. Mitt Romney came in first with 39 percent of the vote, followed by John McCain with 30 percent and Mike Huckabee in third-place with 16 percent.”

Romney won BIG there in 2008, has been CAMPAIGNING FOR FOUR YEARS guys, and now IF he wins, it will be by the hair of his chin. This thing is not over tonight by a long shot.

Santorum winning would be nice, but remember the same basic result has been achieved no matter who wins. Romney should have taken Michigan easy, and instead he is fighting for his political life. It’s a proportional state, so Santorum and Romney split the delegates anyway.

The only thing the winner gets is bragging rights, which is much more needed for Santorum than Romney for money raising, but EITHER WAY, Romney basically loses cause he shows how weak he is.

Chin up to those who want a more conservative candidate, this thing is NOT over no matter what happens tonight. Remember….conventional wisdom is everyone saying the same thing…..it has been proven WRONG WRONG WRONG in this race.

So when Rove and Co. are wiping spit from their chins they are talking so fast, just remember they have been wrong over and over. They will say it’s doesn’t mean much if Romney loses Michigan, and they will say its a huge deal if he squeaks by and wins. So its a bunch of bullsh*t guys, ignore it.

    • Mensaman62

A good showing means more money from me to keep Rick going toward the win! and then more in the general.

How can you be proud of a candidate who is so desperate for votes that he lowers himself to solicit votes from the enemy? The optics of this are pitiful!

The Democrats obliged. Michael Moore ran “Operation Hilarity” and made a fool of Santorum. Plus, he provided more fodder for Obama campaign ads.

I know how you feel; the anger and frustration as to how stupid people can be but you got to have hope! The race is not over! I know many of the states on Super Tuesday will tell the establishment to stick it where the sun don’t shine!

Can’t stand Romney supporters they act like Obama supporters

    • jaym68

Ya -like I said in an earlier post… cutthroat like the leftists.

    • jaym68

      Also –
I had the misfortune of tangling with Murkowski supporters during the whole Murkowski vs Miller debacle up in Alaska. They were beyond vicious, they were like piranhas – and we’ve already seen what a RINO she turned out to be. I truly believe there is a very real ‘liberal’ wing of the Republican party, and the difference between them and the left is virtually indiscernible.

    • nibblesyble

Because it is very possible that Newt will be able to rise again.

      • Siobhan7

From your mouth to God’s ear! Now if we can only convince women to put aside their resistance to him, then we have chance. He would make a wonderful president with Santorum as his VP.

        • http://twitter.com/2Eskies2Many Kari George

I really wonder about this sometimes. If you look around, it seems like Newt’s most ardent supporters are women. I kinda think it might be one of those memes.

        • FreeManWalking

What would Santorum’s contributions be as Veep?

I see a West or Rubio helping by bringing over Florida.

          • Siobhan7

You’re right – West or Rubio would be great. But I also think Pennsylvania would be very important and I think Santorum can deliver it along with the heartland and Newt taking the south?

            • BankGuy

OH and PA go to the Santorum column.

            • FreeManWalking

Maybe, just not sure he could pull them after loosing the Senate, but sometimes folks will vote for a homeboy for pres of veep more so than as a Senator or Congressman.

    • FreeManWalking

      To WIN

    • PChandler

Because his pimp Adelson wants Romney to win, he said it explicitly, so he wants to keep Newtered in the race so he can drive away votes from Santorum. Simply as that.

At least Santorum won my age group

  • klaffner

Whew. I thought the DailyKos was going to pull it off. But now we have a little micro study. The democratic votes that Santorum received are fake votes from loyal dems who are going to vote for Obama in December. But Romney got 10 to 15% of the democratic vote. I think it is reasonable to view those democratic votes for Romney as votes that will stick with Romney in November.

  • BankGuy

Begalla saying that Ohio may be Romney’s undoing. Throw in PA and Romney is in BIG trouble.

  • xjesterx

Romney’s team is SO scared about him being of, by and for the rich. This is why he keeps saying stupid things like he still wants the tax code to be “progressive”. What they seem to forget is IT DOESNT MATTER what Romney’s plan is….Obama is going to attack him for being “for the rich” anyway!!

    • http://twitter.com/2Eskies2Many Kari George

Check out the demographics at MSGT’s cnn link. His base in Mi is $100,000+

This just isn’t credible to me. Maybe if people want a Steve Martin character for prez.

  • NoToTyrants

IMHO, contrary to his “electable” moniker, if Romney is the nominee, Obama will be reelection. Even if I am wrong and Romney ekes out a win, he has no intention of reversing America’s current course toward the socialist abyss and reestablishing Constitutional governance. He will try and manage the unsustainable socialist utopia created by the left over the past 80 years, and he will fail. Along with the current Republican leadership in the Congress, a President Romney will put the final stake through the heart of the Republican party, and it will be well deserved.

On to Super Tuesday! That will be the pivotal moment that decides if America wants to remain strong and free or slouch into the socialist abyss consuming Europe.

    Pray for our nation!

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Richard-Jones/100001374595021 Richard Jones

I wish Rick woud have won Michigan. BUT I am a NEWT person.

For those idiots who keep asking why NEWT is still in it, go to NEWT.org and READ !!!
HIs plan was to survive until Super Tuesday all along, and win Georgia and Tennesee, and then TEXAS later.

If does dies not win anything next Tuesday, and I do mean WIN, not finish forth and collect delagates like PAUL and brag like an idiot (goofy idiot), I would hope he consider dropping out for RICK to compete with Romney.

Paul is such a lyar now, I saw him slip out of all the questions with Wolf, and he has been a JOKE because he is doing something unethical in PRIMARY politics no one has seen before.

Paul has no plan to “lead” America, he just wants to promote his ideas, and I have lost respect for him, every week, more and more. ALL that money by his supporters, so he can get attention????

The Paul fans have been suckers, and helped possibly get OBUMMER re-elected.

His actions have helped make the primarys so screwy (along with the biased MSM), and his actions fooling his fans are SUCKERS to have supported him.

In history, this will go down as a really embarrissing thing for and his “FOLLOWERS”.

    • PChandler

How do you expect Santorum to win with Newtered still on the race? hurrrrr durrrrr…. his pimp Adelson said it in an interview, he wants Mitt to win, that’s why he’s still giving money to his boy-toy Newt so he can drive away votes from Santorum.

      • BankGuy

Adelson is a dipshite as the longer that both Newt and Rick stay in the race, the worst for Romney. That’s the political calculus.

    • GraceKnows

I agree with most of what you said, but I don’t think I’d advise Newt to drop out if he doesn’t clean up on Super Tuesday. He is not and never has been the spoiler that Paul is. He is not doing this to get attention. Newt could have stayed out of this and done a lot better in the private sector, but this is a call for him to help his country like it hasn’t been helped in a long time.

He has the will to do this, and is making the sacrifices necessary, no matter what. I’m staying on board with him until he gets to Tampa. Newt is not a quitter – I believe he has proven that. He can run circles around Obama until O wouldn’t know what hit him. Newt has said he would do something, and each time, he carried it out. He can turn this ship of state around, and he’ll do it without ego getting in the way. He’s been tried in the fire and come out scarred, but never beaten.

Like someone said in these comments, look to see what his strategy is, and see that, although the media (including conservative media) seem to be in a near-blackout where Newt is concerned, he’s steadfastly going forward.

Newt has spelled out his plans. There is nothing anyone has asked that he does not have a thoughtful, intelligent answer. He was the first to respond to the Obama apologies for the Koran-burning and subsequent murder of our soldiers.

As Churchill said, “Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never–in nothing, great or small, large or petty–never give in, except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield to force. Never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.”

I support this principled man for president. Period. NEWT 2012

(That’s about the only thing I’d tune in to see on a news program.)

    • NoToTyrants

Fox News is essentially part of the Romney campaign. It is undeniable.

Up until the last year or so, I was a die hard Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld fan. I used to DVR every episode and watch it the next evening. Now, even Red Eye is shrilling for Romney. They also seem to have a huge man crush on Chris Christie.

Andy Levy, subbing for Greg last week, went as far as to say that he would actively vote for Obama if Santorum were the Republican nominee. Levy, a self-described Libertarian and Romney cheerleader, is in essence saying he would rather vote for a Marxists like Obama than he would for a Conservative. He explained by saying he really cared about the social issues like gay marriage. Internet rumor is that Andy Levy and Allahpundit are one in the same person, so it all makes sense.

It’s encouraging to see so many people engaged in our process this time (no, not the lame stream media, but citizens). But I’m really surprised how many folks have their panties in a knot regarding the 2 state primary today. We have many more states to go so hopefully we will ALL get our chance to vote.

*Early voting won it for mitt. I read somewhere he won early voting by 59-30 or something similar. Who exactly came up with this nutty idea of voting before the campaigning has ended…better yet, before it has begun?

    • Siobhan7

So in other words, the fix was in!

      • tag4189

There is only absentee voting here in Michigan, no voting places are open early. In most cases I think it is the elderly, military, or out of town folks that take advantage of it. I could be wrong of course but that is the impression I get.

    • BankGuy

      what % was early voting?

    • MaxineCA

Now, now, don’t be so harsh on the absentee ballot process. Back in the day when I was working I traveled a lot. My corporate office didn’t care if I’d be gone on election day or not. I signed up for an absentee ballot and loved it. One time I was so busy & traveling I forgot to mail it in so I went to my local place to vote and they would not let me! The nice gentleman explained to me I could bring my absentee ballot back and place it in a special box. That was good to know that people who are on the list for absentee ballots could NOT go to the polls and vote again.

Remember that’s how our military personnel vote, and they darned well better count all of their votes this time!

the kraut on fox just said that winning the delegate count in mich doesn’t matter as it only matters who won the vote count. is he daft?

  • tag4189

I am from Michigan and looking at how things ended up I beleive it was much more likely that Santorum lost this race by his own doing and not because of what Romney did. He was up in Michigan for a couple of weeks and he lost support after the debate and after he was focused on more. Romney said some pretty stupid things while here and I do not think he did much to help himself.

My son has been telling me all along that Santorum has already lost the support of so many folks due to the way he comes across, my son is a conservative but follows the chatter. I think that maybe even though what he says is true he needs to figure out how to communicate it differently and it may be to late for that.

I like santorum but I I like Newt better and I hope Newt’s plan for Super Tuesday works and he is able to pull this off.

    • BankGuy

have your son look at the numbers. the margin of victory was due to a landslide in oakland cty (30k votes). this was where romney was born and raised and is prime rino territory. this was essentially the margin of victory. santorum will be on message this week and win ohio and later pennsylvania.

      • tag4189

I understand that it was mainly Oakland county and there was also a big attempt to manipulate the vote here so who knows what would have been if folks would have voted for the their candidate. What my son is reffering to is the election as a whole, not just this one race. Again, I have no issue with Santorum, I just happen to like Newt a little better. I just hope one of them is able to pull this off.

  • BankGuy

all should keep in mind that if it goes to a brokered convention, the arizona delegates will be challenged (as florida’s) as GOP rules prohibit winner take all before april 1st. delegates could go from 29 to 15 in a brokered situation. couple the challenge on florida, there are real problems for romney.

  • drphibes

what’s the point of the drudge headline and photo? “Romney Wins More” with pic of O sipping a glass of … something. I don’t get it.

    • BankGuy

drudge wants romney ordained as soon as possible as he thinks an extended primary huts the GOP’s chances….what a moron!!! Trying to be clever as he thinks Obama is relishing the protracted contest. Typical for these so-called conservatives (who are really RINO’s)

      • B-Funk

Yah, I agree. I’m honestly rather enjoying the drawn out primary. It’s kinda like sucking the poison from the snake bite.

      • StNikao

The pretend conservatives are lost souls. Social liberals, liberal to moderate politically, fairly moderate economically. They are confused…having drunk the liberal kool-aid, they have believed all the post-modern amoral propaganda.

    • PChandler

Matt ‘Dandy’ Drudge thinks this is a done deal, he thinks his comrade Mitt can now focus on defeating Obama. Funny cause Romney lost to McCain who lost to Obama in 2008.

Good luck with that, good luck trying defeating Obama with Obama’s own sloppy second.

  • http://twitter.com/ozziecastillo Ozzie

Listened to Santorum’s speech- it was pretty good, but I couldn’t help but think of a line to use.

“BO doesn’t want the middle class to be broke, but he wants them to be broken— or something along those lines.”

I think it’s a good counter class warfare argument to build in what people’s relationship to government should be, and the path that is set to place people in servitude and obedience to their government rather than the other way around.

  • K-Bob

Great. Romney wins by a 3% margin over Santorum.

Guess Santorums pandering to Democrats didn’t work. Boy he stepped in it. He bought him a loss with his auto bailout rhetoric that no conservative would support. Of course he’ll use his signature line that he was misunderstood. Newt needs to catch fire but I’m less optimistic.

    • FreeManWalking

Awe come on Joe… Newt will carry the south.

With his speech to the NRA, I think he sewed up their vote too. Lock & Load!

  • Been_There_BT

59% didn’t want Romney in his “home” state.

Rick & Mitt will probably each get the same amount of delegates in Michigan. I wouldn’t call that a win for Mitt, I’d call it a tie.

George Washington knew that you don’t need to win all the battles in order to win the war, but you do have to hang in there and wear the opposition down, and then seize the opportunities as they present themselves.

Newt & Rick are doing just that to Mitt. And just like Washington, they are making do with very little in the way of resources while draining the resources of the opposition.

So don’t let the “Tories” get you down, think “Swamp Fox!”

  • denbren52

Attention all ABRs (Anyone but Romney)! Some facts to help bring you in from the ledge:

It appears that there may be a delegate split in Michigan that results in an even split of 15-15 although Fox News is reporting 11-11 with 8 unallocated (no explanation). No matter how you spin that, it’s a tie. Each won 7 of the 14 districts (an even split).

Romney only has 10% of the delegates needed to win the nomination. The “win” in Michigan helps his momentum nationwide unless we help to counter-spin with the rest of the story: Romney is unelectable in his “home” state. 59% or Republicans voted for someone else. That translates to a 20 – 30% vote for Romney in general assuming some who voted against him will vote for him in the general.

Let’s not lose hope. Super-Tuesday is coming fast and there’s still time to derail this Romney train.

  • Constance

I considered nothing better from my state of Arizona, unfortunately. I did not expect Michigan to go for Santorum either. That’s okay. Onward we go! I’m glad Newt is staying in the race.
