This isn’t just some political statement Mullen is making here. He’s serious when he says that he doesn’t want to see those that put their lives on the line to get Bin Laden ‘spun’ into election politics:

I do worry a great deal that this time of year that somehow this gets spun into election politics. I can assure you that this individuals who risked their lives, the last thing in the world that they want is to be spun into that. So I’m hoping that doesn’t happen.

Brian Williams adds that Mullen also stated that the special forces who took out Bin Laden weren’t thinking about politics, they were thinking about the mission.

Even though Dear Leader didn't do a damn thing in all of this... it's all he has to hang his hat on during his failed pResidency: He happened to be in charge when it happened.

He's a shameless fraud.

Mullen at 0:22: "And from my perspective, the president's support..." to which Brian Williams , eyebrow raised, leans toward the Admiral, forcing Mullen to rephrase his words..."the, the decision that he made and obviously the result, stand alone in terms of the kind of calls presidents have to make and he made it."

Williams clearly thought the Admiral was about to spill the beans that Obama was brought along to the conclusion of the decision making process that initiated the operation. This is another clue in validating the rumors that the president was not onboard with the hit on Osama for the 6 months we knew where he was hiding out. Obama ended up ultimately deferring to the JCS and Panetta, perhaps even Hillary, and against Jarrett's and Biden's advice, on the call to action. The mainstream media and the players in the Administration, even reluctant ones like Mullen, are all behind the charade of lies for their affirmative action president.

Come on Admiral, speak up like Senator John Mcain did on Bill Oreilly. He pretty much said O-BLAME-O was being a a-hole for his re-election chances....well, in so many words he used which WERE terrific.

AND, he was not saying it for just for Himself and MItt, it was for US and the blessed FOX ratings!

I like it when they punish old Mister Ed.

The more Obama spikes the ball in the end zone means the more open he is to why he criticized the "play book".

In other words, why did you oppose so many policies that led to this victory, for which you wish to take so much credit?

kong1967
kong1967

The policies he opposed are what led to Bin Laden's death. The information that led to finding him was obtained through our "torture". If not for that, he would still be sitting in Pakistan with the full awareness of the Pakistan military. Obama really can't take any credit at all for this....Bush should.

NO! Romney should just says congrats Mr. President now lets talk about the flailing economy. Making hey about the politics of it is only going to invite Bush's playing politics with Saddam etc.... Romney is not going to win that argument because the fact is Obama said he'd go into Pakistan and was criticized by the GOP and Hillary for saying that back in 2008. Give the guy his one accomplishment and one campaign promise he actually kept and talk about the economy.

kong1967
kong1967

Yeah, I know. Our soldiers don't like it but it's hard to sit by and watch that a-hole take credit for something he had very little to do with (and opposed the policies that got the information to find him). If it were up to Obama, Osama would still be on the loose because we wouldn't have the intel.

Nukeman60
Nukeman60

The drone program is a double-edged sword, however. We are getting no intel from these attacks at all. Sure, we are killing people, even though we don't actually see proof of it and it is very inefficient costwise, but what information do we extract from it? Nada.

But, I agree with you, that it is good that he did not end the drone program.

Guest1776rcp

Obama said he would go into Pakistan and kill terrorist and was harshly criticized for saying he'd go into an ally's country etc.... He kept that promise sending drones in etc... and before bin Laden. As much as I don't like the guy I give him credit for doing what Bush wouldn't.

I don't know. Saying he was going to get Bin Laden, as a campaign promise, is kind of like saying he promises to stay in office for 4 years. It's a no-brainer and was going to happen sooner or later. I'm just amazed that it took any kind of decision-making at all.

Hopefully, the entire 'I killed Bin Laden' self promotion will backfire on him. He tried to ride it at first in the ratings, back when it happened and it initially worked but died out after a while. Now it will explode in his face.

Admiral, it already has happened because Obama has already put it right in the middle of his campaign. Just another example of his hubris and lack of concern for others. The military vote should be interesting to watch.

Well said Admiral, I hope for the same. That said it is very unlikely that the political operatives behind the President will respect that, as Zero has already demonstrated.

I will laugh my butt off if Obama loses by a landslide. Then the libs will say, once again, we just didn't move fast enough and hard enough on liberal policies to keep people happy. Yeah, THAT'S why you're losing, idiots. We wanted more liberal policies so we elected more Republicans. How dumb do they think we are?

See, this is what I muse about. What do the MEN in the service have to say about all that's going on?

WordsFailMe
WordsFailMe

I think it's been more than 50 years since someone cared to ask what MEN thought ...maybe not 50, but it's been along time since anyone cared... A lot has changed.

Thank you for asking!

I agree with you 100%. Do you think Roosevelt took the "credit" for D-Day or Churchill for that matter? I don't think Eisenhower or Montgomery took credit either, I believe they gave that accolade to the men who jumped from the landing craft and made it happen.

Let me be clear, anyone can give an order but it took a hero to carry it out and make it happen. So Obama gave the order....and???? what???? errrrrr so what?? the point is.....only "he" could have given it? Give me a break.

There is an old Irish saying and it goes like this - "he held the candle while his mother chopped the wood".

I think our vets must find this whole "debate" repugnant and deeply nauseating.

My pleasure. And, there are not a few of us who understand that real MEN are very, very valuable to a well-functioning society. I appreciate your efforts and encourage you to fight the good fight to be manly, in that character and ability in relationships and having a cause are manly, and these of course can be performed by women.

Here's to manly men (people)! People of character.
