According to West’s twitter feed, he is a supporter of Boehner’s plan that we laid out earlier. Here are the highlights again:
First Round:
- 1.1 Trillion in cuts – recommendations made by 6 members of each chamber, occurrence of cuts to be determined – cuts will be non-defense, real and not accounting gimmicks
- 1 Trillion in debt limit increase
- Will last until next April
Second Round:
- There must be a vote on Balanced-Budget Amendment
Here is West’s response to the plan:
I don’t understand how West can support this plan that puts a bipartisan panel of 12 in charge of determining the 1 trillion in cuts. If Boehner and Reid (and colleagues) can’t figure out where the cuts come from now, how will this committee figure this out later? In fact why wouldn’t Congress just do this anyway in the bill? And when will this bipartisan committee decide these cuts? According to a Fox News report:
The framework would cut and cap discretionary spending immediately, saving $1.2 trillion over 10 years
That’s piddly! Click above to read more about the plan, to see how there are no details to this plan.
How in the world can West put his name on this?

UPDATE: Turns out Boehner’s plan isn’t all that different from Harry Reid’s plan. Click here to see how close they are.
