I’m honestly trying to still make sense out of the real issue here. I do think King makes a great point in the middle of this – that if this bill is so important and the Democrats have a majority in the House, then why didn’t it pass? Why all the rage at Republicans if the Democrats have the majority?

This feels like a tactic by Weiner to make Republicans look bad with the 2010 elections coming up in a few months. Cheap, cheap politics is my guess.

UPDATE: Apparently I got my numbers mixed up on this one a bit amidst all the yelling. The Democrats called for a 2/3 majority vote when they didn’t need to. They could have passed this with a simple majority. The roll call vote is here. H/T: @BrianFaughnan. Either way, the end result is still the same. The Democrats could have passed this if they really wanted to, but they chose to try and smear the Republicans.

They should both go on the road……………………..I agree on both counts. 1 – the Dems hold the house, why not pass it? Let me guess, they knew they wouldn't get support from the Reps, and to make them look bad they decided on the procedure vote? 2 – Why the Reps didn't support this bill – that doesn't look good for those who are “really” in need of this? Could it be that it's full of piggly wigglies?

This is what the democratic party has become , by hiding thier amendments in the bills . Either by closed doors or in between pages , John F. Kennedy would be disgraced by thier actions . Weiner and obama would'nt make a pimple on John Fitzgerald Kennedy 's rear end , GOD rest his soul .

Why didn't the Republicans vote for this and even if they didn't the Dems should have approved the money…this time the money was needed for those on 9/11 that made the biggest sacrifice…The Dems played a game so that the Repub. looked bad at the expense of those men and women that were the first responders on 9/11 and need their help now. And as usual we see what is important to the Dems…THEIR POLITICAL PARTY…Do you remember the story in the Bible about the two women fighting over a baby and Solomon decides to cut the baby in two to shut both women up and give them both what they want…the REAL MOTHER…the one that TRULY cared stepped aside and said NO give the child to her…sacrificing because her love was real…well the Dems showed that their political party meant more to them then these people that needed their help…tragic…deport Washington DC all of them!!!!

I'm getting sick of politicians, on BOTH sides, adding crap to bills. If it's a legitimate issue, let it stand alone in it's OWN bill, not tacked on to something that normally would be a no brainer.

I'd like to see a rule passed that requires each bill to stand on its own, no mor adding stuff to other bills (especially despicable when they are totally unrelated).

And I'd like to see that same rule require that every bill be limited in length, say two pages. I'm tired of these thousand page monsters that “no one has time to read unless they have two lawyers and two days”.
