I think this is great. I am a transgender male and I have been having mental health problems for 14 years and I finally found a therapist that I feel comfortable sharing this with and we have really made a breakthrough in therapy and we both (and many others) agree that my gender idenity issues is the main contributor to my depression and juat the thought of getting the surgery done and living the life I desire so much makes me feel more confident and I feel like a million pounds have been lifted off my shoulders
These morons in California don't care about spending the taxpayers money they know OBAMA WILL BAIL THEM OUT, you mark my words.
what should the taxpayer have to foot the bill for a someone who "feels" that they are the wrong gender.... God doesn't make mistakes... if one is born a male, then you are a male, etc..... If you have feelings that you are the wrong gender, then you need mental help not surgery.

When ever I see these things, I only have to remind myself of one thing and it all makes perfect sense as to why it is funded, protected and glamorized.
These people and their families will be democratic voters for life.
So, am I to understand that in San Francisco, if a heterosexual person has cancer and is uninsured, that they are on their own? What about if that same person is "depressed" and has mental health issues over the fact that he/she is heterosexual and has cancer? This is just disgusting. Instead of worrying about either installing or removing lady parts from people, perhaps we could spend that same amount of money on people who truly need it.

But if one needs health care for something like a cancer treatment, an operation etc, you have to go through the death panels and wait in a long line.
Hey you gotta have your priorities you know. No problem after we put a few hundred grannies before the death panels we'll be able to easily afford this, and more.
I remember a stupid movie from the 70s. In this movie the country elected a rock star as president. One of his first actions was a program to get rid of old people, and use the money to pay for big parties for young people. Fiction becomes fact.

Yup, that's our future. I have been telling people that if they want to know what the United States will look like in four years, just look at California. We will be as bankrupt (both morally and financially) as they are and we will have sky-high taxes to pay for all of these new entitlements. And once Obamacare kicks in, watch out. We will be beyond bankrupt. We WILL be Greece. The Federal Government will have to come to grips with paying for Obamacare sooner or later. And that means whatever money we do have will be thrown into this black hole of health care. So hello insurmountable debt, good-bye any military you can think of. We WILL be France and it seems at least 50% of the American population has no problems with that.
I used to think that but to be an optimist for a minute, I think the country is split between two possible paths.
One is to follow California, and that's the way it always used to be. But that was in the days when California was in a leadership position. They used to be the leaders in Aero-space and advanced engineering. They represented the future. Now they are the leaders in social weirdness and liberalism.
It's true that obama got a second term but the country also elected a large number of republican governors. And in Wisconsin earlier this year they re-elected Scott Walker. Something big is happening at the state level. My feeling is that the country isn't going to follow California because California doesn't look like the future anymore, it looks like the past.
Wisconsin and North Dakota are the future. And because of that I can see more states starting to model themselves after Wisconsin and ND rather than California. I think California's future is bankruptcy followed by irrelevance. It'll take a long time because it's so big, but I think a long deep decline is their future. And I don't see anybody getting excited about that. Let alone wanting to copy it.
Now that Mitt Romney is out of the way, I expect Scott Walker to become the new rising star in the republican party. And if his reforms work, and he is successful, I look for Wisconsin to become the jewel of the Midwest. Look for other governors to follow his example, and California to just be forgotten.
There's one thing to be said for the Greeks: they do riot. And so do the French: blockading harbours is nothing, the fishermen just do it. The farmers think nothing of driving to government buildings with their tractors and unload all the manure form their farms on those doorsteps.
In the UK, it's only the underclass which riots - and not agianst the government, but to smash windows and steal more free stuff ...

Already have this in Canada, in particular, Ontario. I had a huge discussion with my representative about this, what it boiled down to was de-listing necessary services such as physiotherapy treatments and eye exams that were covered, but you could get a sex change. As I recall, about 5 people in a province of millions wanted to take advantage of this.

Ok, I confess, I live in the bowl of nuts and fruits, called California. But, IN NO WAY to I agree with the fools in the northern part of this state. This is FOOLISH! Why not work on changing the problems of the heart before you begin to decimate the body. What happens in four years when these individuals realize they were WRONG, do we then change them back for FREE? I guarantee San Francisco will NOT be the only ones paying for this, they will take it to Uncle Jerry and he will declare it a statewide agenda. YIKES!

Here in the UK, loads of money is spent to give the obese gastric bands or reduce their stomach size, because the fat dears (usually below 30years old) can't be expected to diet and exercise.
Meanwhile, cataract operations are being postponed (no money), hip and knee replacement operations for the elderly are being postponed (no money), because why should the elderly be helped to keep on living independently?

Had a family member (mid 40's) in the UK go through the gastric band thing, as he was morbidly obese - diabetic, almost blind and lost limbs to diabetes. In spite of that, he wouldn't stick to his diet. He was however, going to school and since he could no longer drive, was allotted a specialized handicapped van that family members could drive him to school and to various appointments.
Yup, Americans ain't seen nothin' yet, Canadian socialized health care has a long way to go before it hits the insanity level of the UK.

Yep. and what is even worse: hospitals are being given 'targets', to put such-and-such percentage of patients on this Liverpool Pathway, and are given financial incentives to hit those targets.
IOW, the more people they kill, the more money they get.
That's 'caring', that's 'free' health care for all, run by bureaucrats.
