Apparently Democratic Rep. Kathy Hochul got more than she bargained for last night in her town hall, getting booed by her constituents for supporting and defending Obama’s HHS mandate forcing religious institutions to subsidize birth control and abortifacients for their employees. But what I found so interesting was her concession at the end to the questioner’s argument on how absurd it is to provide, of all things, birth control for free!

I hope backlash from this HHS mandate sweeps every one of the Democrats out of power who is up for election in 2012. They voted for it when they voted for ObamaCare and they deserve to be removed from Congress forevermore!

Backlash didn’t stop Obamacare. The Dems are planning a 2012 surprise and they’re not worrieded in the least.

    • http://www.therightscoop.com/ The Right Scoop

Of course it didn’t stop ObamaCare. They were already in power.

But look what happened in Nov. 2010. And I pray that and even more happens in 2012.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1784115493 William Vaccaro

Hopefully sooner – we are going to Washington on March 24th.

      • aZjimbo

If not this country might be over once and for all. Is it that bad? YES IT IS!

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Chris-Dias/1680711668 Chris Dias

What happened in 2010 wasn’t enough, and even some of the “tea party” Republicans have proven to be progressive (communist) patsies. I certainly hope it’s stronger than 2010. Last call.

      • Sober_Thinking

        Agree 100%!

      • Idahoser

oh really. Look at ANY of the possible outcomes of the 2012 election and tell me any of that passion amounted to anything.

    • Rshill7

They hide it well. Most everything they ever say is a lie anyway, so any confidence you see, is also a lie. No problem. Just another day in the oath-breaker’s orifice.

      • http://twitter.com/ozziecastillo Ozzie

Yep- I’m never so sure I’m being lied to as when a Democrat is explaining something to me.

        • Jeffrey Hardin

LOL As Judge Judy has always said, if their mouths are moving, they’re lying!

        • Sober_Thinking

If a Dem says it, you know it’s spun or a flat out lie.

Hence my position: If they like it or vote for it, I’m against it.

          • Nukeman60

I wish I could get myself on the mailing list for the daily morning memo from the White House. Then, whenever a liberal started spewing the talking points, I could pull my sheet out and follow along. It would make my day.

            • Sober_Thinking

You can have the sheet music… just don’t sing from it. ;)

              • Nukeman60

Heh, I would never go to the dark side. I just want to laugh at the idiots in the LSM who claim their talking points are original when we all know they come from the same meme.

Aaaaaand who says a social conservative can’t win in an election against Obama again?

  • http://punditpawn.wordpress.com PunditPawn

There’s some positive news. The House is likely to repeal the IPAB (aka. Death Panels) here shortly, and there is bipartisan support for doing so.
    http://thehill.com/blogs/healthwatch/health-reform-implementation/212575-house-republicans-to-renew-attacks-on-health-law-as-supreme-court-hears-arguments

    • Rshill7

But will Harry even Reid it? He’s certainly blocked pretty much everything else the House has sent over.

      • http://www.therightscoop.com/ The Right Scoop

He’s the president’s wing man. It’ll never see the light of day in the White House.

        • http://punditpawn.wordpress.com PunditPawn

Possibly, but they think there is enough Democratic support to force it to a vote.

          • Rshill7

The Senate is the killing field. DOA. If the Republicans send it, Hairy Weed will kill it.

            • NYGino

Storm clouds are brewing on the horizon. They may even be noticed by a greater percentage of Senate and House Democrats than would seem possible. They would like to keep their positions and it’s just possible that they might jump ship after wetting their fingers and seeing which way the wind is blowing.

There has to come a time when it slaps them in the face and they realize the anti-American stance their defending.

Did that not just happen to Rep. Kathy Hochul?

            • Sober_Thinking

Very true… what a pathetic old man he is.

    • capelady

Listen, even Barney Frank is opposed to that now, since he is not running for re-election.

      • Sober_Thinking

        You make a very interesting observation. He’s a turd…

        And that rat-bastige deserves jail.

    • lanahi

They know Obamacare is highly unpopular, so they are trying to “tweak” it to fix it up so we have less objections to it. It won’t work unless we are really very stupid.

      • NYGino

That’s what they are counting on but, as I’ve said here once before, to a lot of people he was a one eyed Jack but they’ve now seen the other side of his face.

    • DavidRobertson

Actually, this is a rare brilliant move by the Republican house. Put the bill up, let Harry and the boys kill it, then make as much noise as possible…MAKE the dens publicly stand up and defend their embarrassing vote for this Obamacare monstrosity every day if possible. This is exactly what the tea party did for the 2010 elections and look at the result.

If Boehner wants some credibility with the base, he will do exactly this as much as possible.

      • cabensg

There have been quite a few rare moves by the House all of them lost in the pile of lies the Democrats spin to the sycophant press. You have to look really hard on the internet to find out anything the Republicans are doing or have done that is constructive or productive. I’m not saying their actions have been stellar or that they’ve grown a real back bone but there have been some good efforts.

They’re communication skills are practically nil except for their website which is usually a speech by a rep on what needs to be done. Even when they get onto the national stage it’s all defense.

This is why I support Newt. I want to see a weekly news conference so we can actually know what happening. They can’t ignore the president even if it is a Republican, not like they ignore or lie about Republicans in the Congress.

  • NYGino

They get fed the party line spin and are going to find out, like she did, that it won’t work with “We the People”. You can’t fool all of the people all of the time.

    • toongoon

Yep Gino, People are getting real tired of being treated as fools by elected elitists.

      • Rshill7

In 2010 Enough was Enough. Now it’s much more than enough. It’s way too much.

Stevie Nicks is warming up in the wings.

“I took my love and I took it down
I climbed a mountain and I looked around
And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
Till the landslide brought me down…”

        • toongoon

I’m looking forward to that……and the election.

        • Sober_Thinking

          Excellent use of lyrics. :)

        • Sober_Thinking

Check out the lyrics of “Under Pressure” by David Bowie and Freddie Mercury?

          • toongoon

Excellent Sober, I copied the lyrics here without all da dums and other repetitive stuff. Also, if you replace the word love with God the song has so much more meaning.

            Pressure pushing down on me
Pressing down on you no man ask for
Under pressure – that burns a building down
            Splits a family in two
            Puts people on streets

            It’s the terror of knowing
            What the world is about
            Watching some good friends
            Screaming ‘Let me out’
Pray tomorrow – gets me higher
Pressure on people – people on streets

Chippin’ around – kick my brains around the floor
These are the days it never rains but it pours

            People on streets
            It’s the terror of knowing
            What this world is about
            Watching some good friends
            Screaming ‘Let me out’
Pray tomorrow – gets me higher high high

Pressure on people – people on streets
Turned away from it all like a blind man
Sat on a fence but it don’t work
            Keep coming up with love
but it’s so slashed and torn
            Why – why – why ?

Insanity laughs under pressure we’re cracking
Can’t we give ourselves one more chance
Why can’t we give love that one more chance

‘Cause love’s such an old fashioned word
And love dares you to care for
The people on the edge of the night
And loves dares you to change our way of
            Caring about ourselves
            This is our last dance

            This is ourselves
            Under pressure
            Under pressure
            Pressure

  • Cindy09

    – TRScoop

Please add Boehner and his Pledge to repeal Obamacare to those that should be thrown out and countless of other RINOS/Career Politicians. Time to clean the slate and inject fresh blood in the party! Let’s throw them all out this coming November!!

    • Sober_Thinking

Spot on Cindy. You are absolutely right.

  • capelady

The Democrats don’t care what we think and will support Obama… unless we vote them out.

We still have elections in this country… for the time being, anyway.

What boggles my mind is that Americans have such a low opinion of Congress and keep re-electing the same losers!!!

“Why don’t we have free bandaids? Isn’t that more important to healthcare than contraception??”

Brilliant! The left has already lost this argument and they don’t even realize it.

They tried to make the issue about contraception, they lost.

They tried to, and still do smear opponents to the mandate as people who want to “ban” contraception. This is an absurd position that nobody advocates.

They try to claim that the catholic church is trying to ban their employees and their members from accessing contraceptives. They fail. Everyone know that this isn’t the reason people are upset.

They try to manufacture consent by headlining polls that say 99% of catholics use contraceptives. The public already knows this and still thinks that is not the point. They don’t want to pay for something that they think is morally objectionable even though it is commonly accepted as an individual decision.

We are seeing a media campaign that is trying to simultaneously make democrats be the champions of “choice” while they dictate acceptable practices and demonize all dissent….at the same time, people who want to stand up for freedom are being called oppressors. We truly live in strange times.

    • Rshill7

      Bingo.

  • aZjimbo

The Constitution? What’s that? Entitled to healthcare. Since when? When the hell are Americans goling to stand up and fight the regime?

I’m starting to think that 2010 is going to look like the “Fat Lady” was just clearing her throat. Democrats and especially Obama, have been acting like the midterms never happened. He has doubled down on everything that he could and has lately been blaming the people that voters just put in office for his own failures.

  • edwardlee

Backlash will not stop any of these charlatans. The only way to stop them is to VOTE THEM OUT. Nothing short will work.

  • Nukeman60

Well, basically, we’re not looking at the Constitution on that aspect.

…by the teachings that I was raised under…

I think this says it all. She doesn’t care about the Constitution and her liberal upbringing trumps it.

    • NYGino

What happened to swearing to uphold the Constitution? To use the words of someone I despise….”just words?”

      • Nukeman60

I believe many of them have just shortened that to ‘I swear’ and are leaving it at that.

In the words of someone I despise, ‘they have to read it, to know what’s in it.’ Period.

  • http://profiles.google.com/ranjay25 no kia

This had to be engineered in Chicago trying to paint the obummer regime as tolerant to christian religious points of view, hence the religious exemption after a huge blow back. Their end goal is to break up the insurance companies so there would be a single payer system. After all, guess who ends up picking up the tab as a result of insurance companies made to give away contraceptives for ‘free’? One by one people will soured by their premiums going up and they’ll drop it or at that’s the regime’s hope, thus ushering in a single payer system. Then a death panel will dictate who lives who dies, and how many children someone can have as in China.

  • stevenbiot

It’s time for the “Planners” to get schooled on the Constitution.

    • BAICHAN

These dangerous idiots do not care about our constitution. And if they had their way we the people would not be allowed to read or study it for obvious reasons. Shame on them!

      • NCHokie02

That document is already dead to them.

Just some old parchment that they have to “swear an oath too” doesn’t mean they have to uphold that oath. No one will enforce it.

  • ApplePie101

I hope the backlash also strikes fear into the hearts of any republicans who are considering anything other than total repeal.

  • http://black-avenger-1.livejournal.com/profile VirusX

I got harangued by friends that are on the ultra left for supporting the argument that this is un-Constitutional, and that the federal government has no place in buying anything for individuals, nor does it have any place demanding any company pay for anything. Some brought up that they use various types of contraception devices for health reasons, other than contraception, and I understand that. All they could say was that this was Republican Party men assaulting womens health issues, they said no women were even there to testify (which I pointed out was a lie, and that even the far left Politico posted that) and that it was Republican men and religious people trying to take over their bodies.

They refused to listen to the fact that while they have rights, so do those religious organizations they maligned, under the 1st Amendment. What Obama was doing was taking away their rights, to give spurious rights to contraception to someone else. No one would acknowledge that. I told them that maybe if Congress and the president weren’t doing everything to drive up prices, maybe the prices of these contraception devices they felt were their right (one even falsely claimed Congress was discussing this, so they could find a way to ban contraception) would be more affordable, and that if they really thought this was suddenly so important (seeing as to how it apparently wasn’t, just a year ago), why couldn’t they just take it upon themselves to go to their own insurance provider, and work out something with them? Expecting a catholic organization that has something against contraception to provide them for you is foolish, and a violation of their rights, which actually ARE in the Constitution, unlike the ‘right’ to contraception.

The bottom line was that they view this like any other liberal views any other issue. Liberal beliefs are sacred, and to be respected. Beliefs that are outside that are stupid, nonsensical or ignorant. Convictions, such as theological ones, are primitive, laughable and stupid. What they believe is sacred and sublime. What we believe as Conservatives, is profane and ignorant. The fact that their very arguments were profane and ignorant, and the fact that I went out of my way to insure mine weren’t, was completely lost on them.

    • Nukeman60

An exercise in futility, but one we must always attempt. Kudos to you.

Lol, why not provide free bandaids and cancer screenings? “Clearly more work needs to be done”. HA HA. More or less, they aren’t done telling insurance companies what they have to provide for free without raising rates. Unbelievable. Looks like Obama’s well on his way to driving everyone out of providing health care except the government.

  • 911Infidel

Ah oh? There’s trouble in Obamaville. As I have already said this violation by Obama and his minions of the freedom of conscious of Catholics and Evangelicals with this contraception mandate (read Abortion) may well be his Waterloo. His sychophants in the Congress will naturally be dragged down the worm-hole with him. Doesn’t it delight the imagination just thinking about throwing out the Dhimirhoids from Congress, the Senate and the WH? Vote early and often Dhimis. I’m annoyed that the audience went straight into the first amendment argument, rather than arguing against the more fundamental problem, which is the government doing things which they have no constitutional authority to do in the first place.

If the only argument against this mandate is the first amendment argument (regarding religious institutions), then this country is DOOMED.

Why not have cancer screening mandated for everyone. That’s a perfect argument against this whole Obamacare debate. That gentleman hits it right on the head. What kills more people – Cancer or Lack of Contraceotion.

Also the people have to share the blame for electing dumb people to represent them. Mistakes are made but these are to many people who see the constitution as an after thought when making life changing choices for everyone.

She will be fired. This was the most unconscionable thing an American Government has ever done to their own citizens. It hits to the very core of why even the Pilgrims came to America. They wrote their own political obituary with this. They will never be forgiven for this.

I don’t know about any of you, but I feel hatred in the bottom of my gut that I’ve never felt for anyone in my own government. It’s fierce hatred. Do any of you feel the same? I’ve never felt so betrayed.

HOWEVER, my feelings for this administration and its blinded and cowardly supporters borders on whatever is one decimal point above hatred. Betrayed, certainly. Ignored, definately. Frightened, unfortunately. The list for me is endless. I feel in my heart that America now has her eyes wide open and votes accordingly.

She has nothing to say! Congress doesn’t get to mandate anything! Go to hell! I KNOW I’M NOT SUPPOSED TO WRITE IN CAPS BUT I’M SCREAMING! NOTHINGS FREE, THE GOVERNMENT ISN’T PAYING FOR IT, CITIZENS ARE!

It is becoming more and more evident that people like this in the congress do not look at liberty like we all do. November 2012 here we come!

here is a more spirited exchange from that town hall:

I’m thinkin’ she won’t be doing too many more town hall meetings.

Would be nice if they were mandatory.

Some of the best arguments are the simplist. “Why don’t we have free bandaids? Isn’t that more important to healthcare than contraception?”, nails it.

I am also concerned about the devout business owner who doesn’t happen to be a “church”. Aren’t his/her religious freedoms just as important? There will be no recourse from the federal dictate and that small business will be forced to dis-honor their personal beliefs.

…just tro da BUMS OUT on the 1st TUESDAY IN NOVEMBER,”

  • http://punditpawn.wordpress.com PunditPawn

OK people, why so bummed? Does anyone who voted in the Tea party election of 2010 plan on staying home this election? I don’t think so.

I think conservatives are just busy working jobs in the interim and don’t get particularly active until major elections…

I’m banking on the silent majority to take Obama down.

Provided we don’t replace a (D) with an (R) that’s just as useless.

  • GEDouglas

This is how it is done…bit by bit…slow but sure…take away freedoms a little at a time. It’s gratifying to hear America waking up and saying STOP! No More!

You know, we need to see more of these videos when the Congressmen are held accountable by their electorate. Personally, I would like to revisit ALL of those videos from the atrocious health care debates that unfolded just before the thugs in DC shoved it down our throats. We’re out here feeling defeated & so many have already forgotten the ire we felt at these townhall meetings & then the 2010 elections came & a loud, clear message was sent. Yet here we are, two years later with Mittens getting jammed down our throats, Barry’s rising in the polls, and we’re sitting here defeated. Let’s have a reminder of the days when we went before our elected Congressmen and gave ‘em he77.

There seems to be fewer and fewer town hall meetings, maybe Congressmen and women are beginning to feel and fear the wrath of the people. Hopefully we will see more as the election gets closer. With their approval rating somewhat south of 10% it’s no wonder.

Your idea of revisiting past meetings is a good one, refresh peoples minds.

    Right on, Scoop.

“…I hope backlash from this HHS mandate sweeps every one of the Democrats out of power who is up for election in 2012.”

and what would you like to see happen to the Republicans who are up for election in 2012 who vote for stupid and evil things?

Need separation of church and state.
