This is great news especially considering I am a NC citizen!

CBN NEWS – North Carolina will no longer fund Planned Parenthood, America’s largest abortion provider.

Republican lawmakers voted to end all state contracts with private providers of family planning services, overriding Gov. Bev Perdue’s veto of de-funding the group for the second time.

The move redirects more than $343,000 from Planned Parenthood to county health departments.

Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony list, said the vote “does not cut a dime” of funding for family planning.

“Planned Parenthood is an abortion-centered, profit-driven business, not the caring health provider for women and girls they purport to be. They neither need nor deserve taxpayer dollars,” Dannenfelser said.

“This budget adjustment does not cut a dime of family planning funding. It does protect the consciences of pro-life taxpayers by sending funds to county health departments which do not perform abortions,” she said.

Way to go North Carolina! They are a good reason for (States Rights), and on this issue...their intentions were true and honorable, and their aim just.

Gee, I now wonder if the DNC will still hold their convention there since they are against so many Obama policies. Good for NC.

Glad to hear great news for NC! Gov. Perdue needs to go next. I really believe that the only bastions of liberalism in this state are from liberal northerners who have moved to the Raleigh-Durham area and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area....plus Asheville. Only reason NC went for Obama last election was those two areas and people voting because of race.

This is awesome! I am very thankful for the current conservative trend in our state politics.

Yeah, they're doing well up there! Good for them!

I wonder if their governor will compare them to Mississippi again...

Darn right Planned Parenthood is an abortion-centered, profit-driven business, not the caring health provider for women and girls they purport to be. Its about time we do not give any more money to these abortion factories. The only problem is, if Obamacare is implemented throughout the country, then the Federal Government will simply fund all the abortions. That is the big fight that is taking place between the Catholic Church and the Federal Government right now. And if the government wins, it will simply force all doctors to provide abortions, whether they like it or not because it will be Federal law to do so. Another major reason to stop Obamacare in its tracks. Hope we can still do it.

The interesting thing about this story is Planned Parenthood claims they don't use government funds for abortions, so other parts of their program will get hurt with this lose.

Yeah, right. What a stale argument. Donations are donations. I've never believed that old argument. If you donate 40% of their funding, then all their programs are getting 40% from you. Your donation doesn't go to good causes while someone else's donation goes to abortions. What a crock.

If they don't want to lose the government money, get rid of abortion. Period. Seems simple to me.

One state down, 49 others to go (several of which have already defunded PP). Obama can keep the extra 7 states.

I believe NC will be the first of many to abandon liberalism. People are tired of it.

Also think this Nov will make 2010 look like small potatoes. My only concern is if the GOP will do what is right, instead of politically expedient like John Roberts did. I don't have much trust in Congress or Romney.

FINALLY WE WILL NOT BE FORCED BY GUNPOINT OR JAIL TO SUPPORT PLANNED PARENTHOOD, WHICH ENGAGES IN INFANTICIDE, SOMETHING I HAPPEN TO FIND MORALLY REPULSIVE. I AM SO GLAD MY MONEY IS NOT GOING TO THEM ANYMORE.

Brilliant news for you guys - let's hope this is the first state of many (unless others have already done this?).

I think the weasel Pudue's days are numbered. NC is swinging back where it belongs. Its high time Repubiks everywhere stop allowing their states to be an accessory to the murder of the unborn.

Unfortunately, too many Rep agree with abortion and a good number are elected to office.

Yes. We call them RHINOs. They are target #2 right after Dhimiratz in this election process.

Never under estimate the power of fervent prayer from the heart of a good man or woman. GOD listens! My conscience feels a bit cleaner today! Way to go North Carolina!

Strange how affirming it feels to be lead by principled leaders.

I think it's great that government at some level is looking out for the taxpayers- and for women and children.

WTG NC! I wish I had moved to NC instead of TN. TN is being manipulated by Liberal forces. I don't trust the future of this state anymore. Too many old time democrats (social conservatives, fiscal liberals) that have no idea what they are voting for are being led astray.

I totally agree. I'm shocked at the amount of liberalism that has crept into TN over the past few years.
