Bachmann: Not raising debt ceiling almost like a balanced budget amendment

Michele Bachmann says that not raising the debt ceiling is a lot like a balanced budget amendment in that it forces you to prioritize spending:

If we fail to pass increasing the debt ceiling, it isn’t that the federal government shuts down – it’s not like the budget. … It isn’t that revenues wouldn’t come into the government, they would. It’s just that we’d have to prioritize our spending. Imagine that! That’s novel! We should prioritize our spending. It almost acts like a balanced budget amendment in a way because it says you can’t keep spending money you don’t have. That’s a good thing!

This is pretty much what Sarah Palin said the other day. In fact, Stan Collender, who I referenced to support Palin’s claims is the same guy that Bachmann says she brought in to explain to the Tea Party Caucus what happens when we don’t raise the debt ceiling. I guess it’s only a matter of time before the Left starts to attack him.

Bachmann adds that she’s not just bluffing, but that she doesn’t intend to raise the debt ceiling because it will force us get our fiscal house in order.
