I didn’t catch this yesterday because I couldn’t listen to them read the Constitution all day, but apparently they read only the amended Constitution and not the document in its original form. In fact I do remember Rush mentioning it now, but his take was that the Democrats wanted to get Republicans reading the 3/5th’s portion of the Constitution to further demonize the Republicans by putting it in ads.
Beck’s take on it is a bit different as he feels they gave up a great opportunity to have the conversation in order to correct the record on this issue. He called Speaker Boehner a coward for putting politics in front of having the conversation!
I would add that Stu, while he agrees they might be cowards, is a bit more understanding of them not wanting to have a conversation about slavery in their first couple of weeks. That’s a valid point because what we really need to be talking about repealing ObamaCare and cutting deficits and so forth. As much as that would be a good conversation to have, messaging is crucial over the next two years as we are in the fight of our lives.
