The worst thing about this is, at the moment, no one seems to know why this black drone flying over JFK yesterday. But the pilot who saw it seems clear about what he saw. I only wish he’d have gotten at least a cellphone video of the craft.

Watch:

ABC NEWS – The Federal Aviation Administration is looking into a report by an Alitalia pilot who said he saw a “small, unmanned or remote-controlled aircraft” on final approach to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.

The Alitalia plane was on final approach about 1:15 p.m. Monday, when the pilot saw the unmanned aircraft approximately four to five miles southeast of the airport, the FAA said in a statement.

“We saw a drone, a drone aircraft,” the pilot can be heard telling the control tower on radio calls captured by the website LiveATC.net. Later in the recording another pilot reports a similar sighting.

The FAA is investigating the pilot’s claim and the FBI is taking a preliminary look into this incident. The Joint Terror Task Force is also investigating, a source familiar with the investigation told ABC News.

The unmanned aircraft was flying at an altitude of approximately 1,500 feet, but the pilot did not take evasive action and the Alitalia flight landed safely, according to the FAA.

Welcome to the George Orwell-1984 world.

The drones of other nations are bound to show up in our sovereign air space. Our Nobel peace prize winning drone fleet commander, Pres 0bama, can and does dispatch our drones into sovereign air space all over the globe and vaporize individuals and those individuals standing around the target. Killing terrorists is fine with me. But if we think that this unilateral action will not be meet in kind, we will be proven wrong.

It was probably being flown by the US government--you know, the same government that killed Anwar Al-Awlaki and wiretapped people to stop terrorism. So there's nothing to worry about.

This article sounds like those people who always somehow see "black helicopters" over their farm fields or those Code Pinkers who always think they're being wiretapped by "Bushitler."

""We expect this award to be granted pretty rarely, and that factored into the decision [on its precedence]," Little said.

We don't hand out Bronze Stars and Purple Hearts to just anybody either. Well, maybe except in 'Hanoi John' Kerry's case, that is. ;-) ;-)

The fact remains, there's NO personal, on the scene, combat involved in earning this medal. It's a 'feel good', 'REMF' medal, nothing more. Here's how I really feel about it.

Oh, I feel so much better knowing that. ;-) ;-)

Speaking of drones, House members led by Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) ask Hagel to downgrade medal for drone pilots. GOOD! Stupid disrespectful idea in the first place!

Thanks for the heads-up! I didn't even know about this medal. Having read the article, I agree with you completely!

Don't forget. Obama also instituted medals for restraint in combat - don't shoot back at the enemy if civilians were present.

I remember that one... The "Chickens#!t" medal. :-( Never known an army to give a medal for not engaging the enemy. :-(

That is not the drone you are looking for. Move along.

Maybe it was tracking Kim Kardashian. LIV's pay more attention to her than they pay attention to countries like North Korea and Iran and drones flying over their heads. I wouldn't be surprised if TMZ was painted on the tail.

There is a very odd psychological aspect of these drones.

- If the President of the US was sending special force military teams across the borders of dozens of countries , spying on governments and civilians, and executing some of them at will - the American public would be outraged. Use drones to do exactly the same thing and it si cool.

- If Federal, state and local government agencies kept fleets of helicopters over us with high resolution cameras, listening devices and wireless data transmission tapping devices, there would be massive protests and outrage. Do exactly the same with drones, and nobody seems to care.

What is going on? I expect our government to violate our rights - it is their natural state.

What is disturbing, is the lack of outrage among freemen.

An attempt to cause delays at the airport to support the argument of affects the sequester would cause?

Barry getting in some extra flight time for his next game?

Supposedly polls show that the American people don't mind the drones.

Either the polls are full of it or the American people have turned into mindless drones themselves.

I'm going to add that Cuomo and Bloomberg lost the address list of the gun owners so they are looking for them currently.

mark1955
mark1955

The polls, "Are full of it". They are "Push Polls" that are designed to move public opinion in a certain direction and not reflect actually public opinion. They are also trying to tell us that over 70% of Americans want "A pathway " to citizenship for illegals. That poll just came out yesterday on FNC. It's BULSHE! Another poll they are trying to flim/flam us with is,the majority of Americans want Firearms Bans. Yep, Right. That's why tens of millions of Americans are buying out everything in stock at Firearms dealers. We know your game Establishment and the lamestream and we are not falling for these phony polls!

Could it be possible that both of my postulations are correct?

Considering what has happened to this once fine nation, I vote for the "mindless drones themselves" theory.

Janet sent the Drone out to check the long lines at the airport, because of the cutback Sequester is causing with TSA security.

Has Al Sharp as a Marble come out and made a statement condemning the pilot of being a racist bigot for describing the drone as black? ;-)

(What has the race of the drone got to do wid it? I bet there were white drones there too, but he didn't report them!)

Wolfie

The only "hobby" drone I saw was only able to go 200 feet in the air so this one at 1,500 was no "hobbyist" who's drone was "accidentally" in the wrong place at the wrong time. This should be investigated further by the Feds immediately.

OneThinDime

But if it is a fed drone, feds investigating themselves will result in findings like Fast and Furious (lift rug, sweep under)

Perhaps some passenger took a photo with his or her cellphone?

This is pretty scary, and I would be inclined to believe the pilot because they have to be very aware of e.g. birds when starting and landing.

Also note well how the use of drones is being made palatable: 'looking for lost dogs and cats' - a likely story!

Wolfie

Trust the MSM to always play down a story that doesn't fit their agenda. I'm surprised they mentioned it at all.

I'd guess that this will be worked up so as to make that pilot sound like those pilots who saw UFOs in the 1950s: a bit of a crank, move on, nothing to see here ...

No it doesn't work for them with the people. people are not buying it! However, that is not to be confused with the repubs using that as an excuse to cave on dem legislation. Two separate things.

That's what I posted at "Gateway Pundit". Get ready for the lamestream meme that the pilot is a, "Nut". I believe him 100%. Also, as if the DHS and FBI don't know exactly what that Drone is about. It's Theirs!

Hmmm, I wonder if the FBI is talking to the Department of Homeland Security these days? You're probably going to see a lot more of this, where one Federal agency is using a drone and not telling anybody else about it. Fortunately, that drone didn't hit anything at the airport, like another plane!

OneThinDime

Fortunately, that drone didn't hit anything at the airport, like another plane! It will happen, the question is will we ever be told or will the incident be blamed on pilot error.
