In the wake of the Kasandra Perkins/Jovan Belcher (Kansas City Chief’s linebacker) murder-suicide this weekend, Bob Costas decided to make smug plea for America to ban handguns during halftime at the Cowboys/Eagles Sunday night football game on NBC (via Daily Caller):

Once they take our guns away and stabbings start to increase even more than they are now, will Costas then call for banning knives? Or maybe he’ll call for banning of cast iron frying pans when they become the murder weapon of choice?

Bob Costas is an idiot like all people who actually believe guns are the problem.

He says nothing about banning guns or taking away the right to have one, but states an obvious fact. If Jovan didn't have a gun, he would still be alive and so would his girlfriend. He also had mental issues as well, so why did he even have a gun in the first place?

The issue is simply gun culture, and there are lots of people in this country that own guns and are also irresponsible with them to the point that they are being used for ridiculous reasons. The bigger issue is that there are too many guns in this country and less gun laws that govern them. Congratulations on the misleading title of this article, though. Costas said nothing about banning guns.

How about we ban liberals so we don't have so many @ssholes walking around with 5hit coming out of their mouths?

At one time in America the dumb-ass politicians tried to ban whiskey too didn't they. It just creates a black market and all control goes out the window.

A friend of mine is in an abusive relationship. She's been downplaying it for quite some time. Unfortunately, she lives half way across the Country. This scumbag she's married to doesn't celebrate Christmas or any major holiday, only Veteran's Day and HIS birthday. To celebrate Veteran's Day he goes out and gets drunk. She is now in the process of leaving him and coming back to CT, thank God. He does own a gun and it terrifies me. I don't know why I'm rambling on about this, I guess I was just upset.

Thanks for listening.

We should all write the NFL and threaten to boycott.Insist they fire him them for allowing Costas to use his position to spout a political position to millions of people. What would they do if he made a pro-life speech from the booth?Hit them in the wallet. That is always the cure for this type of nonsense. The right to bear arms is a constitutional right that this fool is advocating taking away.Politicizing this tragedy is crossing the line.

Notice that everything is politicized? You can't escape it. Watch or go to a sports event. Pick up a fashion magazine (Anna Wintour etc). Watch a TV sitcom (Glee, Modern Family). Anyone see a pattern here?

People kill people not guns. It is a mental health problem and violence, self-control problem.

Costas, you are truly an ignorant communist. You haven't got the guts to blame the REAL culprit here, do you? That's right, Bobby Boy, it was the cowardly scumbag shooter that is TOTALLY to blame here. The gun can't do ANYTHING unless someone pulls the trigger.

Stupid moron.

Nice one Bob....Let's say he didn't have a gun, and decided to choke his girl to death. I suppose we would have to ban opposable thumbs, that would make the game of football more exciting. ugh

There have so many posting here that have said this in many different ways, but the progressives are just missing the boat.

This starts with the inability for people to understand one simple truth, placing the blame on everyone else, or any inanimate object is a futile attempt to deflect responsibility for one’s actions. Yes Mr. Belcher used a gun to end the life of his girlfriend and himself. In the end, Javon Belcher and only Javon Belcher is responsible for the pain and suffering he caused. In the recent past there was a story of a young man, a high school senior that was texting while driving and killed a man on his way home. The man was a father to more than one child, a provider and a husband. The state where this happened has texting while driving laws on the books already, and making more harsh laws will do nothing to keep this from happening again. Even though the prosecution proved through phone records that this young man was in fact texting and this is what lead to the accident, the young man denied the vehemnetly. Like many progressives, the fault never lay at the person’s feet, but rather the object that the person used to cause injury or death. This goes to precedence of everyone is the same and no one is a failure or success. Mr. Blecher had a rough life and should be applauded for making it out. Every sane individual is to be held accountable for their actions and blaming a gun for poor decisions is just plain stupid. If we are to say that Mr. Belcher is sane then Mr. Belcher must be credited for his actions and held responsible. If the progressive side of the aisle wishes to say that Mr. Belcher wasn’t competent enough to discern between right and wrong, then why wasn’t he institutionalized? This is just more liberal progressive non-sense aimed at making all humans equal and not responsible for their actions. Or simply put, “It’s that gun’s fault” The old "the devil made me do it" defense. My reply is simple, progressive liberals need to grow up.

Do these people ever notice how Muslims deal with their 'domestic disputes?' They use knives, acid, and other assorted weapons in their violence...

If its the guns fault then put the gun on trial.... no?

I would like to bring to everyone's attention the fact that Mr. Costas probably lives within a nice, safe gated and guarded community for the wealthy. He doesn't need to worry about personally defending his family from an intruder or thug. I would also bet that he probably does own guns and believes himself "better" than the average American citizen- like most of the elitist, self-serving liberals.

Also, if an honest investigation is done on this incident, I'm positive that they will discover that steroids and possible brain-jarring was instrumental in this guy's behavior.

So Bob, would Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman still be alive today if guns were banned? NO! Because OJ didn't use a gun, jacka$$! All because a gun is more convenient does not mean the NFL player jerk would not have used a knife or bat or something else if he didn't have a gun.

When I watch football, I do not want to hear someones commentary on their antigun ideas. It was a horrible thing that took place in K.C., but that had nothing to do with the sunday night football game. Keep Mr. Costas to commenting on the game or move him to MSNBC with the rest of the antigun nuts.

1) It's a sports program, azzwipe, talk about sports.

2) You are a typical northeast communist media mouthpiece. Shut the F up about stuff you know NOTHING about.

3) The gun killed no one. A person killed his girlfriend and himself. Sorry about his girlfriend, glad he's gone. he's a waste of space and oxygen.

God bless and help us as we rid this country of useless communists like Costas.

You must have missed the part where costas said he agreed with Whitlock, and would just quote what he said. Liberals and their word games. He and Whitlock blamed these deaths on guns. Said it wouldn't happen without guns. What do you think that means?! Ban guns!!

"P.S. Half of his statement WAS A QUOTE FROM SOMEBODY ELSE".

That he chose to parrot in the middle of a ball game, or is that point lost on you. Weapons are weapons and anything can be used as one. This was a direct reference to restricting hand guns, by him, that point should be more than obvious.

@LogicalThinker257: Interesting that you'd choose the handle you did. Hmmm. I went back and watched the video of Costas's comments. Boy, I guess you're kind of splitting hairs here, Logical. Costas didn't use the terms "gun control" or "banning guns". What he did do was quote a teammate's words, stating that in this instance, he's in agreement with him. And the teammate's words didn't use the above-mentioned words (in quotes). But are you telling us that the point of his words didn't revolve around what he called our country's "gun culture"? And that he didn't say that if the shooter didn't own a gun, they'd all still be alive today? How exactly are you reading or hearing those words? Sounds to me like you just want to pick a fight perhaps?

tinlizzieowner

Way too complicated an explanation for a 'logical (liberal) thinker' with 1 post on this site, to understand. ;-) ;-)
