It’s about time we get the ball rolling on this. I worry it could just be posturing, but hopefully this will turn into a contempt charge because there is no way Holder’s going to comply:

Washington Examiner – House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, and House party leadership confronted Attorney General Eric Holder for not cooperating with the investigation into Operation Fast and Furious in a letter today.

The letter — signed by Boehner, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., and House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., and House Oversight and Government Reform Committee chair Darrell Issa, R-Calif., — increases the likelihood that House Republicans will pursue contempt charges against Holder if he does not turn over documents pertaining to the gunwalking scheme.

“As co-equal branches of the U.S. Government, the relationship between the Legislative and Executive branches must be predicated on honest communications and cannot be clouded by allegations of obstruction,” the House leaders wrote. “If necessary, the House will act to fulfill our Constitutional obligations in the coming weeks.”

Boehner demanded that Holder reveal who planned Operation Fast and Furious, which resulted in the death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, who was shot by a drug smuggler armed with an assault rifle purchased through Fast and Furious.

“[T]wo key questions remain unanswered: first, who on your leadership team was informed of the reckless tactics used in Fast & Furious prior to Agent Terry’s murder; and, second, did your leadership team mislead or misinform Congress in response to a Congressional subpoena?” they asked Holder.

Boehner the R.I.N.O. is only posturing, NOTHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN. The established Republi-can'ts are weak and afraid of both Demo-craps and Con-serva-tives

Typical Leftist attitude, the Nation's top law officer still thinks he's above the laws he's supposed to enforce. A true Leftist/Liberal thinks (believes in his heart of hearts) that he doesn't have to obey anyone, esp. those requests by those that make the laws (Congress). I say it time to ship E. Holder to Gitmo and give him a state sponsored vaca.

Holder should be dismissed, he lied to Congress.

Why isn't the GOP pounded this message day after day after day: fire holder now. And don't stop untils he steps downs.

Contest: What perfume scent did Boehner put on the letter?

Never expected to see the word ball (or balls) is the same sentence as Boehner.

i wonder if that bonehead, rino, was crying at the time of sending the letter?

Yep, I'll bet every sentence was smeared at least a little. It probably looks like a mascara fingerpainting. Holder might think it's a Rorschach test.

Maybe Boehner is worried about losing his job? He should be! We don't vote for WIMPS!

Boehner steps up, sends letter to Holder over Fast and Furious

Oh noes...not a letter...that'll learn 'em.

Just as Joe said earlier in the thread...Kabuki

How about a special prosecutor and congressional impeachment hearings for Eric Holder and anyone else the special prosecutor investigation finds to have been involved? It was good enough for the faux-scandal in the Valerie Plame incident, which resulted in the wrongful imprisonment of Scooter Libby, a man who had no involvement.

This is what infuriates me. The left, while in the minority, have their Kangaroo Courts and partisan media convictions of innocent men like Scooter Libby. Contrast that with the impotent establishment Republicans, who have a majority in the House of Representatives, they send out a letter essential begging Eric Holder to hand over evidence that may incriminate him. Please...Please...Mr. Holder may we trouble you for some documents. Pathetic. Where is the zeal on the Republican side?

About the same "zeal" that drained the swamp of the likes of Waters etc.

Right. Whatever happened to HER trial? Never happened. She would have just gotten a slap on the wrist like Rangle did. Our politicians are so corrupt. So sleazy and arrogant. Most ALL of them make me sick to my stomach. They are thumbing their noses at us right in our faces and think they can get away with it. They have for so long - their corruption means nothing to them. They treat us like crap.

LOL!

"Oh Yeah?? OH YEAH?? Well....I'm gonna send Holder a LETTER! That'll show 'em!"

Can't mess with you Boehner!

A "Slinky" and an egg's shell have one thing in common, they are quite sturdy when the forces are directed at them in one very particular way.

Boehner is like that, too. Enough deaths mount up, and he eventually has to stiffen his spine enough to wield his gavel.

I guess eventually the crap under his nose gets so bad he is forced to do something about it. Boehner may have beaten a primary challenge this time, but we need to keep challenging him again and again.

K-Bob, reminds me of the old cowboy who was showing his donkey to some visitors, telling them that his donkey would reply to any command he was given. The visitors were skeptical and asked to see this. So the cowboy picked up this 6 foot 2x4 and wacked the donkey in the head with it. The visitors were aghast and asked the cowboy why he did that and he told them you had to get his attention first.

K-Bob
K-Bob

Heh!

Of course, if you substitute Boehner for the (ahem) "donkey," then it ceases to be a joke. Instead it's just a sad story.

'If necessary, the House will act to fulfill our Constitutional obligations in the coming weeks.' Yes, we've noticed that the House has done its darnedest to avoid fulfilling its constitutional obligations.

'Dear Mr. Holder,

I am writing this letter to let you know that I want all the voting populous to be aware that I am serious, I mean it, serious, about telling you that you should do what I want you to do, which you are not doing, so I want it. I'm drawing the line in the sand right now. Please advise me as to whether or not you plan on crossing that line, as it takes many months for me to draw another one. I humbly await your response and I hope I haven't hurt your feelings in being so harsh this time. It would make me cry to think you were unhappy with me'.

Sincerely,

Your colleague and friend,

John 'Teary-eyed' Boehner

This time we're really serious just like the last 10 times we were serious, but this time we mean it, until the next time we're serious and mean it.

Good one Nukeman!

Who really takes Boner seriously, at this point? I don't. Couldn't care less what he has to say, and I'm sure Holder cares even less, than that. If Boner wanted to look like he had any credibility, he should've done this day one, when the scandal first came to light. Instead, he's dilly-dallied just as long as Holder has, avoiding his responsibilities. Liberals like to point to the 'general welfare clause' in the Constitution as being one of the passages that gives them carte blanche to do anything. Really, the duties of Congress are laid out plainly, and that clause is clearly explained. Boner has been just as negligent as the other liberals, because he's done absolutely nothing to protect the People, or effectively represent them. He's nothing but a career politician that probably couldn't make it in the Private Sector (which is precisely where his weepy ass should be sent packing to). Boner's a spineless a jackass and Holder's a weasel.

Agree 110%. Good post. And, I'd add Mitch McConnell along with Boehner as both being spineless/jackasses.

It's a rock-and-a-hard-place situation for the House (though I agree with you entirely). The House can only vote to impeach; the Senate will not enforce it, much less agree with it.

MaxineCA
MaxineCA

You are correct about the senate, but I say..... Bring it on and have a vote for all of us to see who votes against it in the house AND the senate. No better time than an election year to do this.

E. Lee Zimmerman
E. Lee Zimmerman

Well, sure, I'm one of the first who wants to see these folks given the full length of the rod and staff, but here's the issue at this point: if the Republicans only vote to impeach Holder, I would imagine that there would be a nightly news special once-a-week from now until Nov. 7th on "why would Republicans do this in an election year?" and NOT on what the Republicans did with a clear statement of the facts. I tend to think moderates take their marching orders from televised cr@p like that, which is essentially political indoctrination. I think we all know that the mainstream press is gonna lie anyway; I'm only talking about trying to limit the damage to ourselves and our party so close to an election. That's all.

MaxineCA
MaxineCA

Well you really surprised me, as I thought you would be one of the last people to be so timid about this. It's not an election year issue, but since it's front and center....... let's get to the bottom of the scandal. It's just good timing, if the GOP will find a backbone and go after it.

I really don't understand your reference that if were to happen soon that we could recover. Recover from what - Exposing the truth? The MSM is not going to be honest no matter the time line, but who cares.

We've got to stop being on the defense and worried about how the MSM will lie about the truth, of course they will. We need to stand strong and go on the offense for a change.

E. Lee Zimmerman
E. Lee Zimmerman

As much as I wanna agree, I'd really hate to see it become an election year issue. You know the media would pound that drum right up until election day. If it were to happen soon, then we could always recover, but the more this goes on without any real movement ... I don't know ...

I don't expect Holder will comply. He is the Department of Justice and I fully believe that Obama stands behind him.

He will comply if the House withholds money from his department! They need to play hardball because Holder is taking them for granted and playing them for fools. Moreover, when this administratin is over everyonr who worked under Holder needs to br fired or let go. If this doesn't happenRromeny will never be able to implement republican or conservative policies.

This whole thing makes me sick. Not only does Agent Terry's family deserve answers (and let's not forget Agent Zapata who was killed in MX), but "We the People" deserve answers as well.

Gosh Issa, maybe if you said "pretty please" they might cooperate! (sarc) The DOJ has already said they are not going to provide any more documents so what are you waiting for? Stop threatening and JUST DO IT, already.

kong1967

Posturing. We will know for sure if Romney wins the election and this issue vanishes. Regardless of who is in power, we need answers to this to prevent it from happening again and to prosectute the guilty parties.

Time to flash that 3-D race card. Ooooh, it's glossy and everything, and they know he has it. It also doubles as a get out of jail free card. Just ask the Black Panthers. They intimidated voters AND announced a murder for hire plot (soliticitation to commit) on national TV.

Ask Sharpton too. He still owes his campaign lots of mooolah. Guess what's happening with him? Nutting. He's still out and about race-baiting.

Hey, how do I sign up to get one of those fancy, dancy magical race cards? Maybe if I claim to be 1/32 Cherokee, then if I ever get pulled over I can claim racial profiling. Presto...... get the card and you're above the law! Let's all sign up.
