Not only is Israel authorizing 3,000 new homes in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, but they may start building in the next year even more homes in what is known as a “geographically sensitive area close to Jerusalem”. Palestinians aren’t going to like that one bit.

Predictably the Obama administration frowns at the new settlements, calling them ‘counterproductive’. GOOD!

YAHOO NEWS – Hours after the United Nations voted overwhelmingly to grant de-facto statehood to Palestine, Israel responded on Friday by announcing it was authorizing 3,000 new settler homes in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

An official, who declined to be named, said the government had also decided to expedite planning work for thousands more homes in a geographically sensitive area close to Jerusalem that critics say would kill off Palestinian hopes of a viable state.

The decision was made on Thursday when it became clear that the U.N. General Assembly was set to upgrade the Palestinians’ status in the world body, making them a “non-member state”, as opposed to an “entity”, boosting their diplomatic clout.

An Israeli official had earlier conceded that this represented a “total failure of diplomacy” and warned there would be consequences – which were swift in coming.

Plans to put up thousands of new settler homes in the wake of the Palestinian upgrade were always likely, but the prospect of building in an area known as E-1, which lies near Jerusalem and bisects much of the West Bank, is seen by some as a potential game changer.

“E-1 will signal the end of the two state-solution,” said Daniel Seidemann, an Israeli expert on settlements. He added that statutory planning would take another six to nine months to complete, meaning building there was not a foregone conclusion.

About 500,000 Israelis already live in the West Bank and East Jerusalem on land Israel seized in the 1967 Middle East war – territory the Palestinians claim for their independent state.

The United States, one of the eight countries to vote alongside Israel at the U.N. General Assembly, said the latest expansion plan was counterproductive to the resumption of direct Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.

I love it! Israel just gave Obama and the WORLD "the finger"!

God bless Israel as he punishes the rest of the world for abandoning the Jews.

This building project will actually do alot more to establish peace than giving another piece of Israel to the arab terrorists.

Since when has Israel ever felt the need to listen to anyone else--especially the UN? Why we even care what the UN says is beyond my comprehension. Israel will continue to do what is best for Israel.

Sooo let me get this straight. We spend 10s of billions a year giving money to every other country in the world so that they will vote along with us in the UN. And the Palestinian vote was 136 to 9....That seems like money well spent

Two state 'solution' is a joke. For the Muslims there is only a 'final' solution concerning all Jews.

Israel, you were attacked, you gave back land you won fair and square but these insane people you are having to deal with only see your kindness as weakness.

If only we had a real leader like Mr. Netenyahu!

Good for them, tit for tat. I hope this becomes longer term policy as it will help expand at least a more secure zone and show some strength after the bowing to Obama.

You go Israel. Don't look back either...

This whole U.N. and P.A. this was sickening and wrong from the beginning.

And this little wrinkle upsets Obama and his Muslim brothers... good.

The hatred for Jews is pervasive among Muslim Palestinians and throughout the Arab world. As long as the hatred of Jews continues their can be no peace between Muslim Palestinians and Israel.

“The Prophet said: the Jews will hide behind the rock and tree, and the rock and tree will say: oh servant of Allah, oh Muslim this is a Jew behind me, come and kill him! Why is there this malice? Because there are none who love the Jews on the face of the earth: not man, not rock, and not tree; everything hates them. They destroy everything, they destroy the trees and destroy the houses. Everything wants vengeance on the Jews, on these pigs on the face of the earth, and the day of our victory, Allah willing, will come.”

The 60th anniversary of the “false regime that is occupying Palestine” is a “black day for humanity, freedom and human rights.”

Press TV (Iran), May 13, 2008

“Khomeini did not regard the opposition to the Zionist regime, and the support for the rights of the Palestinian people, as [duties that are relevant] only for a certain time... Israel is ready to collapse owing to internal problems, and over the past 60 years it has not managed to establish its legitimacy... Israel has managed -- by means of violence, force, intimidation, satanic plots and widespread propoganda -- to impose itself upon the region and to create a myth that the Zionist regime is invincible. But today, the Islamic resistance [Hamas, Hizbullah and Islamic Jihad] has shattered this false myth... As Khomeini said, if every Muslim pours a bucket of water over Israel, it will be washed away.”

— Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki

Iranian Foreign Ministry Conference,

Press TV (Iran) and IRNA (Iran), June 1, 2008

“Like the great Iranian nation, the [other] Muslim peoples now regard Israel as a false regime that has been imposed [on the region]. Unfortunately, however, the Arab governments do not join their peoples’ demand [for change in the region].

“The Zionist regime has no power, and is incapable of standing on its own. It is the shameless and unconditional support of the U.S., and the failure of the Islamic and Arab countries to support the Palestinians, that is preventing changes from taking place in the region... Unfortunately, many Islamic governments have failed their duty toward the Palestinian people. Had they adopted the stance of their peoples and supported the oppressed people of Palestine, the situation in the region would have been totally different... Commitment to Islamic principles, struggle against cruelty and arrogance [i.e. the U.S.], defense of oppressed nations -- in particular the Palestinians -- and enmity toward the Zionist octupus are among the [chief] mottos of the Iranian people.”

My point is that all they did was escalate the issue further. Israel has to abide by the decision just as the locals had to deal with the U.N. shoving Jews the rest of the world didn't want on them after WWII.

The U.N. created this mess and the situation had deteriorated from there.

You are not alone in thinking that Israel should concede to the UN. However, I wonder if you would feel the same way, if the UN said the United States had to give California and most Western states back to Mexico, even though the United States paid for that land. Would you concede to the UN under these circumstances?

For starters.

It is a complex issue, first of all, the Palestinians have never been a nation, they did not have the land that Israel claimed. The Arab nations do not care about the Palestinians they are only using this group of people to further their agenda- wipe Israel off the face of the earth.

What is fake about building settlements on their land?

12grace
12grace

It does not matter if Israel builds settlements on their own land or not. We have seen time and again, that "land" for "peace" does not yield "peace" for Israel. They "piss" off the Arab world just by existing.

The only thing Israel can do to appease the Muslim terrorist backed Palestine is to nuke themselves. You cannot negotiate with people that hate you. Hate is not rational.

I have spent much time in Muslim dominated countries in Eastern Asia and parts of Europe and have seen first hand, the hatred that Muslims have for Jews and for infidels (non Muslims). We have seen an expression of that hatred in America on 9/11.

They claim that the US supports Israel over them but they support every Muslim country over us. Look at the UN voting record, the Muslim dominated countries consistently vote against the US. And too, they quickly omit mentioning the millions of dollars in foreign aid the US sends to Muslim countries, yearly.

While Israel is not perfect and they have made mistakes, the Muslim Palestinians as well as their terrorist backers, would have the world think that they are victims of the evil "civil rights" violators, Israel. But, rarely if ever, does the UN or any other group, mention how Christians and non-Muslims are persecuted under the sections of Israel that are dominated by Muslim Palestinians.

The UN " Responsibility to Protect" doctrine is supposed to help citizens that are being persecuted by oppressive governments. Yet, the UN has NEVER stepped in to help the Christians persecuted by Palestinians or elsewhere in Muslim-dominated regions. Why?

you right, Palestinians own lands around the area so they can build with the permit given by Israel gov. Palestinians citizens in Israel can also buy a home from the development of these new homes.

Although the big question is," who are the Palestinians ? "

I'll give a little hint, they are Arabs, Egyptians, Syrians, and from many muslim nations borders Israel, around the middle East.

In the end, Allah gave them Palestinians Israel around 15th century, God also gave the Israelites Isreal for some 6000 years now, so we'll see what happens

Oh the cycle of violence is going to end really soon. All of those wicked and evil terrorist states surrounding Israel who the world's leaders love to ogle over for their terrorism and hatred are about to come face to face with the God of all gods. The UN, EU, US, and Palestine have been pushing Israel to sign a peace treaty with Palestine by December 2012, it does not look like Israel is going to sigh the treaty. According to bible prophecy when this treaty is signed, we can expect the 7 years of Tribulation, to follow.

It seems that the war that Revelation says will start in the area of the Euphrates (Turkey, Iran, Iraq and Syria) that is to kill of 1/3 of the World's population will occur before this treaty is signed.

Counterproductive? Well, so was yesterday's vote at the UN. Obama should have predicted this before he allowed that sham to take place at the UN. Oh, and who was the idiot who was representing us at the UN who should have stopped this but didn't lift a finger to do it? Oh, that's right, it was Susan Rice, the same person who wants to now be Secretary of State. It just doesn't get any worse than this administration.

Jerusalem belongs to the Jews. Even the pedophile maniac made that point. Jerusalem is God's Holy City that He gave to the Israelites in perpetuity. So how are settlements 'counterproductive' when the land is theirs in the first place? Ignor O'Crapper. He cares nothing for God or the Jews.

As to the so-called 'Palestinians'...Assad once told you that there is no such thing as 'Palestine' and that you were all Syrian. Your real homeland was in Jordan. Go there.

Or maybe the real facts on the ground anymore are these:

''Zuhair Muhsin, little known leader of the PLO splinter gang known as “Al Sa’iqa” (The Storm) and backed by Syria, said in a March 31, 1977 interview with the Dutch newspaper Trouw:

The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct Palestinian people to oppose Zionism.

For tactical reasons, Jordan, which is a sovereign state with defined borders, cannot raise claims to Haifa and Jaffa, while as a Palestinian, I can undoubtedly demand Haifa, Jaffa, Beer-Sheva and Jerusalem. However, the moment we reclaim our right to all of Palestine, we will not wait even a minute to unite Palestine and Jordan" - Islamwatch 18 July 2010
