BREAKING: Armed Student Holding Classroom Hostage in Wisconsin

DEVELOPING: Authorities are investigating reports of an armed student holding a classroom hostage at a high school in Wisconsin.
Police are on scene and no injuries are reported at this time, Marinette County Emergency Management said in a news release, without confirming a hostage standoff.
Police received a call just before 4 p.m. local time of an armed student at Marinette High School. Parents were asked to respond to the county courthouse to receive information on their children.

MARINETTE, Wis. (AP) — An emergency management official in Wisconsin says an armed student has taken hostages inside a high school classroom in Marinette.

Marinette County emergency management director Eric Burmeister says a high school administrator called authorities after 3 p.m. Monday to say an armed student had burst into a classroom. Burmeister says he’s unsure how many people are in the classroom and no injuries have been reported.

Choral teacher Bonita Weydt tells The Associated Press that school ended about 10 minutes later and the principal told her to leave the building immediately.

UPDATE: Local Source: 23 students and one teacher are in the classroom that a 10th grade student is holding hostage in Marinette, WI.

UPDATE: Still ongoing and as of yet student hasn’t made demands or revealed his motives yet. No shots fired or injuries thus far. (8:48EST)

UPDATE: Police have been able to get 5 hostages out of the classroom. No injuries so far. Police hostage negotiator still not able to talk with student who is the hostage-taker. All conversations between the armed student and hostage negotiators have been through the teacher also being held. (9:00PM EST)

FINAL UPDATE: All hostages released safely from High School classroom, no info yet on the armed student. (9:30PM EST)
