who cares.
- Jimbo
Totally agree. I have a hard time believing that this is news.
- Steven
Well the Establishment rallies around either Huntsman or Romney. Which means, if Sarah Palin doesn’t run, the only plausible conservative alternative is Tim Pawlenty. There’s alot of talk about Perry, but I’d rather try to draft Bobby Jindal. But of course, this would only be necessary if Palin decides to pass on 2012 and run for the Senate in AZ. Wow, the GOP field is winnowing down. Do they really believe Obama is that unbeatable or are they intimidated by his $1 billion campaign machine?
- Anonymous
Sarah is running….running for President that is. The “game on” speech, the new hire on foreign affairs, the fire in the belly? she’s in but not until maybe july after the legal matters are taken care of
- http://twitter.com/Super_Sachiko Jasmine Clark
and the greta interview from thurs when she said of pres. candidates, voters must see “OUR records, OUR intentions.” i love the greta interview. made me even surer she was running.
- h8 libs
Vote Cain!!! If Palin knows what’s best. She should get out now! Because the
candidates are breaking bottles, sharping knives, and reloading for
the battle of 2012. She will only follow in folly like Trump did
when he dueled with the president.
She should remove her publicity stunt sucide vest and shut up for
the sake of the national integrity - MJS
she’s not running…she will be crucial in ensuring a Tea Party candidate is selected as VP and gets her blessing.

my couch could beat obambi
- Cindy08
After listening to Huckabee (he was on the Factor) yesterday, I am starting to believe that the establishment is involved in his decision. My bet is they are setting us up with Romney like they did with McCain in 2008.
I am thinking that if Sarah decided to run, she could still do so as a third party candidate under the umbrella of the Tea Party. Right now the establishment is cleaning the field for Romney. Or it could be destiny…. so Sarah can run! - Anonymous
I think it would take an ugly primary battle to get anyone to start a third-party run. Only a wild-card type candidate like Ron Paul would think a third party was useful. Note “useful” doesn’t mean “winnable.” And I don’t mean that as a slam at Ron Paul (even though I think his foreign policy is certifiably insane). I just mean that third-party runs are well-understood to be a losing proposition except in the most extraordinary times, but can still be u$eful to the need$ of a candidate.
These times are looking somewhat extraordinary, but do not reach the level of the time of Lincoln or Teddy Roosevelt.
- Anonymous
Sarah Palin will never run as a third party candidate. For two reasons. 1) She loves this country. 2) She’s not stupid.
- Cindy08
I love Sarah Palin and I would like her to run wholeheartedly. But after listening to Huckabee, I get the feeling that the GOP establishment dissuaded him to run. Knowing their feelings when Palin was introduced in the 2008 race, I just hope that this time if she runs they would not dissuade her to.
However, if she stays out of the race, I have not doubt that she will throw all her support behind Cain. - PK
Sarah Palin is not so petty to run as a 3rd party candidate just to win. A house divided cannot stand, running a 3rd party is out of the equation as we can’t afford any margin of error. Whoever wins the primary, Tea Party and GOP better get behind that candidate, we’ve only one shot to win the nation back in 2012.
- Cindy08
I realize that there is no such thing as a “third party” right now but more like a Tea Party candidates such a Michele Bachmann. I would see Sarah Palin running under that umbrella.
- PK
Yes, understood. Mich & Huck are out, establishment GOP thus far hasn’t shown strong-arm pushing for any Republican candidate, even Romney. On Hannity show, Karl Rove’s comment on Sarah Palin is no longer dismissive nor snearing, in view of present reality of Republican candidates in the lineup. He raised a solid point though, that SP is the most well-known candidate nationwide w.r.t. the rest of the candidates, her experience, preparedness from 2008 a plus and her stats are ahead comparatively.
Not that we care about RINO strategist punditry, but this’s the 1st time Karl Rove gives credence to Sarah Palin and that’s a positive. If Sarah Palin decides to jump into the fray (with fire in the belly), there’s a strong possibility that she’ll win the primary, and he’ll unite Tea Party and Republican GOP solidly behind her to win the 2012.
- Cindy08
Yes. That is a good start for Rove.

It reeks of establishment.

Are you channeling Krauthammer? Pawlenty is a reasonable choice but Herman will beat him like a drum in Iowa and South Carolina.
I don’t think Sarah will run. I think she’ll help crown Cain or Perry or Pawlenty and restart her political career after they win and the RINO leaders of the GOP are, God willing, humiliated.
- MJS
Steven, Pawlenty is a dufus and Huntsman is a snake, so by default it is Romney. Not my choice pick, but on the economy he will cream obama in debates and on the trail, plus he has a squeaky clean record. He needs to pick Cain as a VP.
Two businessman against obama and whomever he picks as his new VP.

It will be hard, very hard, for some of the GOP establishment to really back Mittens because even they have principles. Kraut will find it mighty difficult, I believe, to suck it up and look past Romneycare. He might be able to do it, but it won’t go down easy.
- h8 libs
I wish the tea party would just go away causing way to many problems.
Why did the tea party patriot miss the anti-tax meeting? She was too busy driving on taxpayer-funded roads, sending her kids to public school, living in a safe neighborhood, drinking clean water, breathing clean air, enjoying public parks, using public lands, buying safe products, eating inspected food, and enjoying countless other services funded by tax dollars, but this isn’t shaping up like much of a punch line, so let’s say she ate so many bologna and cheese Hot Pockets that she was too fat to fit into the public library meeting room. - http://twitter.com/RichMcCreedy Richard McCreedy
That was completely incoherent. The first sentence, however, was about as short-sighted as it gets.
I simply LOVE how the Tea Party gets all of the blame for a loss or, in this case, for a candidate dropping out but absolutely 0 credit for the massive landslide in November. It really is mind-numbing.
Either way, Daniels had no shot at all at winning. The guy was so damn meak and mild that he would have looked like a pansy in a debate. He wouldn’t have made it out of the primaries and if he had he would have been laughed off the stage in a general election debate. The guy had ZERO charisma and ZERO statesmanship.
Policies for Indiana…pretty solid. But it takes way more than that to win a Presidential election. You have to be able to rally a base. Daniels had no shot at doing that.
- Tyler
Either you think Daniels is secretly a woman or you’re talking about someone else without even referring to who you’re talking about. Just wow, dude.
- http://twitter.com/Super_Sachiko Jasmine Clark
oh please.
because obviously tea partiers hate ALL taxes. *eyeroll* the truth is, tea partiers are for less taxes going to USELESS THINGS.

you understood right…daniels is too good for the country, why do u think obama is the president of this country, the next one will be as bad if not worse.

- http://twitter.com/RichMcCreedy Richard McCreedy
As far as who the GOP establishment backs, I’m thinking it will split between Mittens and Pawlenty. We might even get some who give Cain a serious look.
The MSM has their man. That’s Huntsman. They’ll reallllly start to push him hard.
As for me, out of the candidates who have declared, Cain is the only choice that gets me excited. Can he win? I don’t know. He doesn’t have experience, and has to come from a looooooooooong way back. The MSM won’t do him any favors either, as they’ll just refuse to cover him.
Which is why I’m hoping for Rick Perry or Bobby Jindal to hop in. High profile Governors with solid track records, both of whom have charisma and aren’t nationally hated, like Palin. And no, I don’t hate Palin, but I can read a poll and the majority of Americans, for whatever, dislike the woman.

Previously, the press did everything they could to vilify President Ronald Reagan. The press ran a hate campaign against Reagan. Reagan would have also been unable to run any sort of campaign, according to the MSM polls.
The press “reported” on the “dumb” Ronald Reagan and the “smart” Jimmy Carter. For years, the press called President Reagan “dumb as a stump” and reported him to be a “war monger,” bent on the destruction of the planet.
The liberal press engaged in such tactics, partly because they saw Reagan as a clear and present threat to President Jimmy Carter’s re-election. Reagan prevailed, in a landslide, even without talk-radio and internet social media.
Gov. Palin IS a clear and present threat to the re-election prospects of President Obama. The liberal media are playing their cards, just as they did in 70’s and 80’s.

Good enough.
I’d say right now the big effort among current and potential candidates is in seeking endorsements. I know that many of the “she can’t win” crowd don’t seem to understand the contrast with their mantra and the fact that getting a Palin endorsement would seal the deal for any candidate seeking the nomination.
Her potential endorsement would be important for the same reason her potential candidacy would be important: she has the kind of numbers behind her that none of the other candidates can get. Those who can’t see that are the same that couldn’t see any way in hell Huckabee could have edged Romney out of the 2008 race, leading to McCain’s win.
As for the current polls, the poll readers of today must be thrilled about the accuracy of a predicted Giuliani nomination win back in the early going for the 2008 campaigns.
This race is still effectively wide open. Despite that, I expect a Palin and Cain contest for the nomination. That’s a win-win situation for the USA.

On the road to Romney.
Let me quote the ever brilliant Thomas Sowell: “It is by no means a forgone conclusion that he [Obama] will not be reelected.”
source: http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2011/05/029051.php
Daniels drops giving Romney the advantage as he is the “anointed” one of the GOP establishment. The GOP and the MSM are getting ready to give us Romney as our candidate. “Can’t happen” you say? Which one of you voted for John “I have a horn in the middle of my head” McCain in 2008?? Huckleberry won the Iowa caucs in 2008 and we ended up with McCain.
If Romney wins, we loose. Start saving your pennies and get ready to throw your support behind solid, courageous, conservative candidates in 2012.
Allen West/Chuck Norris in 2012 “Because there’s a serious deficit of testosterone in the White House.”

I agree Nick. The last thing this nation needs are “regurgitated” politicians o become our new POTUS like Romney and Gingrich.

Honestly folks, do we really want to go down this road again. Please, we need people like West, Cain, Palin, Bauchman.

Frankly I stopped donating to the GOP yeas ago. I donate directly to the candidates like Rubio, Joe Miller, Niki Haley.
The GOP has betrayed me once too often.
- dagrimwood
Right on Nick! The only way to donate: pick the candidates you like and support them directly. The GOP is mostly (I’d say 70%) a bunch of elite RINOs that are helping ruin our country. I won’t ever give to that party again.
- http://www.planettron.com NickDeringer
Right now it’s our best strategy.
- BigM
Honestly, I don’t believe he was POTUS material.

That’s too bad. Gary Johnson is my favorite candidate, but Mitch Daniel’s would have been a consideration if he was in race.

”Allen West/Chuck Norris in 2012 “Because there’s a serious deficit of testosterone in the White House.” you got that right deringer..
I like Palin, shes got more balls then most of the soooo called Republicans in house and senate..
She has taken the bullets from the left the arrows to the back from the “republicans” and keeps standing!!! Courage must be rewarded!!! She has the backbone to stand on a stage and put nobamas record into the light of rebuke!!!!Herman Cain Sec of State.

“Roger is worried about the future of the country. He thinks the
election of Obama is a disaster. He thinks Palin is an idiot. He thinks
she’s stupid.”If Roger Ailes did indeed say this, Sarah Palin is finished. Case closed. Ailes is Palin’s meal ticket. I wondered why Newt and Santorum had to leave Fox; yet Huck and Palin stayed. Huck isn’t running….so does that mean Sarah is not either? And if the NEW YORKER magazine coming out tomorrow is accurate with Ailes saying this about his employee Palin, the clock has indeed struck midnight. Even the most loyal Palinbot has to see the handwriting on the wall.
- PK
He thinks, he thinks, he thinks, psycho Kevin Sullivan.

I can’t help but think that the way Newt was treated served as a preview of how his own team (GOP) was ready to take him down. Rush and Levine have been mocking this guy for weeks. It’s too bad that conservatives use the lefts tactic of politics of personal destruction on their own.
What all of us are doing in tearing down every candidate is ensuring Obama gets a 2nd term. Why are we eating our own and so early in the process? I don’t think we should look as Mitch D. getting out as good news for the overall conservative movement or the 2012 elections.
- http://www.facebook.com/people/Kevin-Sullivan/1383790717 Kevin Sullivan
Sarah Palin did not look good (physically speaking) on Fox news the past 2 times she was on. Maybe she is under some severe stress (family? career choices?). I guess we will have to wait for Monday’s NEW YORKER magazine to come out and see if Roger Ailes really did say: “Roger is worried about the future of the country. He thinks the
election of Obama is a disaster. He thinks Palin is an idiot. He thinks
she’s stupid.”. If he did indeed say this, she is 100% finished as a candidate. Ailes, if he did believe this, should not let Hannity and Greta blow smoke up her chimney every night ! And for all of you Palin fans out there, don’t blame me if Ailes said this…..ask him why he said it ! - PK

Maybe his wife will run?
Mitch Daniels is not running for president due to family considerations. This below was forwarded to me in an email.
From: Eric Holcomb (Indiana Republican Party Chairman)
The following is from Governor Mitch Daniels….
“I hope this reaches you before the public news does. If so, please respect my confidence for the short time until I can make it known to all.
The counsel and encouragement I received from important citizens like you caused me to think very deeply about becoming a national candidate. In the end, I was able to resolve every competing consideration but one, but that, the interests and wishes of my family, is the most important consideration of all. If I have disappointed you, I will always be sorry. If you feel that this was a non-courageous or unpatriotic decision, I understand and will not attempt to persuade you otherwise. I only hope that you will accept my sincerity in the judgment I reached.
Many thanks for your help and input during this period of reflection. Please stay in touch if you see ways in which an obscure Midwestern governor might make a constructive contribution to the rebuilding of our economy and our Republic.
