Caller challenges Beck on Common invite to White House

This happened earlier this week but it’s been very popular around the interwebs. Beck has a caller who doesn’t see the significance of Obama inviting Common to the White House given his racy lyrics about cop killers. Pat lays into him first, then Beck weighs in:

I initially had a hard time getting too upset about this because there are so many other things happening that this pales in comparison. But when I heard it was National Law Enforcement Memorial Week and that the very next day the widows of slain police officers would arrive at the White House to be honored, it took a new meaning to me that the President would do this.

To me this is the argument that should have been made up front. I don’t disagree with the other arguments showing it being part of Obama is and what he believes, but the fact that it’s done on National Law Enforcement Memorial Week trumps all of it and it’s the one that will resonate the most with the American people. It’s like a slap in the face to cops and I clearly understand why they are offended and it offends me on the same token.

I have utmost respect for police officers putting their lives on the line every day to keep America safe and believe that honoring those who have fallen in the line of duty shouldn’t be desecrated this way.
