Sarah Palin: God wrote on his hand too

Sometimes I just love Sarah Palin, and this is one of those times. I know the lefties go nuts when she invokes her love for God, but I’m so glad she isn’t afraid to share her faith with so many. Plus she is standing up for those who can’t stand up for themselves at a Right to Life fundraiser. I really think she would make a great President.

The verse she quoted is Isaiah 49:16:

Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands…

Jon Stewart on Palin’s stand-up: “It was quite good actually”

I never thought I’d see the day where Jon Stewart was actually complimentary towards Sarah Palin. He even gives accolades to her first attempt in stand-up comedy on ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.’

In this video, Stewart also juxtaposed Sarah Palin’s approach and style of talk to Mitt Romney, when he appeared on David Letterman’s show the same night. Stewart said “Mitt Romney is always going to be Gore to Palin’s Bush.”

Looks like Palin is winning the left over one step at a time.

Truth about Palin’s show and Oscars gifts

‘Fox News Sunday’ host Chris Wallace filling in for Brett Baier yesterday on ‘Special Report’ set the record straight on Sarah Palin’s intention for a ‘Planet Earth’ type of series on Alaska, its people, and its nature.

And that report about Palin collecting stash from an Oscars party for her and her entourage? Yup, not true. Silver Spoon, the company that hosted a pre-Oscars gifting suite said about Palin and company:

Governor Sarah Palin and her family participated in a charitable function sponsored by The Silver Spoon and the Red Cross to support the Red Cross’ disaster relief efforts in Haiti. Governor Palin graciously accepted since it was in support of such a worthy and timely cause. The governor arrived with a small group about 15 minutes prior to our store’s official opening; and upon arrival, she and her entire group gave generous donations to the cause.

Correction and Update: Sarah Palin: Reality TV Star?

Correction and Update:

Now that news has come swirling online, finally Palin’s intention for this reality show is more of a documentary style production Thanks to the guys at Conservatives 4 Palin for linking to a story sent by Reuters on Palin’s intention for this Alaskan series:

If the project comes to fruition, it will not be an Alaskan version of the Osbournes. The show will be more “PBS/Ken Burns” instead of “MTV/The Osbournes”. This sounds like it’s another opportunity for Governor Palin to promote Alaska — which is, of course, one of the promises she made when she stepped down from the governorship.

From what we understand, the star of the show is supposed to be Alaska, not Sarah Palin or her family. It will focus on the natural wonder, frontier and unique individuals that make Alaska our nation’s hidden and often undiscovered jewel.

From what I understand this series will be more suitable as a PBS, TLC, Discovery Channel, or National Geographic type production. That seems good. No harm seen here. But is her intention to become a Newt Gingrich style politician to make movies, write books and have the door open to run for office? Or is it her intention to become an advocate a la Glenn Beck?

I think a big indication of that will be the Southern Republican Leadership Conference she is scheduled to speak in and what she does in the future.

In the meantime, I want to clarify something to the Palin fans. I am in no way trying to demean Sarah Palin nor am I against her running for office. I give my opinions as they come. As it happens to every story, there is continuing update and more information comes forth down the pike.

——-End of Correction—–

I must say that I apologize to John Ziegler.

I wrote a post previously today in defense of Sarah and her moves with the media, while I criticized Ziegler for not knowing what he was talking about. I was wrong.

News now arrived that Sarah Palin is not only writing another book, but she is shopping for a reality series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sarah and Mark Burnett, a famous reality series producer are shopping around a series following Sarah and her family in Alaska, while filming the beautiful aesthetics of the state.

The former Alaska governor is teaming with uber-producer Mark Burnett to shop a reality series about her home state, network sources confirm.

Palin and Burnett made the rounds at at least three of the major broadcasters (NBC, ABC and Fox) while in Los Angeles for her taping of “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” this week.

Palin and her family would be followed on-camera in the show, which one network executive described as “‘Planet Earth’ meets Alaska meets her family,” referring to Discovery’s high-definition nature hit.

But will a major network buy the series?

Now Sarah Palin has not confirmed anything yet. However, if this is true, she is absolutely not running in 2012.

There is nothing wrong with Sarah Palin making money. More power to her. We conservatives love capitalism.

But there is a danger when you play footsie with your supporters. Most of us are really adamant in our support and there are some that have gone through great lengths to organize and all for preparation for 2012.

Palin has a quality that other politicians don’t have and that is charisma and star-quality. She can be a great advocate for our cause outside of politics.

I’m a Palin fan and will continue to be one. But if you want my opinion and if this story is true, Sarah has just declared her independence from running for president in 2012.

This series might be another way for her to “repair her image” and give her time for a run in 2016.

Hey, maybe she is a genius and this will catapult her to the top spot come 2012. I don’t know, but it doesn’t look like she’s aspiring to run in 2012.

Update: HillBuzz has a unique perspective on this move by Palin:

Word is Palin is negotiating to get a Reality Adventure Series about Alaska, which would feature her family, traveling around the state, teaching America about our Last Frontier and the Palins themselves.

Palin would control the content, the editing, the production, and the broadcast.

In essense, these would be hourlong campaign commercials where Palin would get to present her brand: Alaska, Family, Nature, Independence, Going Rogue, Loving America.

It is an absolute stroke of pure unadulterated genius that only Sarah Palin could pull off.

A travelogue that’s not really a travelogue, but a free campaign commercial for a candidate who will have an hour a week to show America the sides of herself and her family she wants shown, while captivating the country with the gorgeous scenery of a state most find pure magic.

Genius.

As I said on Twitter:

Sarah Palin is the most unconventional politician I’ve ever seen or she is not running for public office. #Palinisfullofsurprises

John Ziegler is wrong on Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and already there is still talk over whether Palin will run in 2012. The media is still obsessed with her and for good reason, she is a political force. And naturally every move she makes is deeply scrutinized but not on her level. Now, Palin fan boy John Ziegler wanted to jump in to the fray and declare that Palin is making the wrong moves for the presidency by not appealing to moderates.

Video thanks to Ed Morrissey of Hot Air:

What is Ziegler talking about?

Here is something these political wonks need to recognize: the average citizen does not obsess over politics as we do. They are independents who after a long day of work, they go home, watch some of the news, and then try to entertain themselves by watching movies, TV shows, sports, or go out to events. And these people also watch late night comedy before going to bed. Palin as well as other politicians recognize, that if they want to tap into that market, they have to head out to other networks that are not cable news and appeal to those viewers.

What Sarah Palin has is personality, charisma, is plain-spoken, and has political smarts. She has the personal story and convictions that are appealing to ‘Middle America’ and even to those on the East and West coast who do not adhere to the snobbery of the elite. She also has a base that is the envy of all the GOP presidential hopefuls.

Ronald Reagan, a conservative, went on shows that you wouldn’t expect a politician to appear on in the 1970s. He recognizes the power of the media. Instead of the media creating the picture of him as a ‘dumb, Hollywood cowboy’ as they used to categorize him, he controlled the image and the message, as well as be humorous and self-deprecating.

He made a guest appearance while Governor of California on ‘Sonny and Cher’:

Here he made an appearance on ‘Dean Martin’s Celebrity Roasts’ as the former governor roasting Frank Sinatra:

I wonder if Reagan was not as appealing to moderates for doing these shows, huh Ziegler? I respect John Ziegler and he is always somebody entertaining to watch, however, can somebody tell me what makes him an expert on running for the presidency let alone any other political office?

Reagan recognized that his brand can be appealing because he has the personality that is engaging enough. Likeability is key in this society.

Sarah Palin has some work to do in repairing her image, especially among a media that has hounded and pounded her and her family unfairly and cruelly. By heading to Leno, people will come away by saying, ‘Hey, she’s a likable woman.’

Roger Stone, political advisor who revamped Richard Nixon’s image and is media extraordinaire on politics said:

Palin’s “star-power,” charisma, presence and genuineness can not be discounted. No one can discount her moxie, her energy and her inspirational qualities. Her anti-elite middle-class message can have resonance again when the Obama economic polices likely fail. The Ivy leaguers and Hollywood crowd so high on Obama may be riding for a fall. The media has unfairly labeled her as “dumb.” All she must do is disprove this…and she can have sixty minutes each week to do it… No decision on running should be made until 2011 and focus must be on image repair. This is a woman who held off 36 year Senate vet Joe Biden in a 90 minute debate. She may just be up to the task.

Now this is not to say that Palin should continue doing comedy shows. Of course not. That is why she signed on to Fox News. A highly-rated news network where she can provide smart political commentary. She has enough time.

After my studies in mass communications as well as my occupations in media, I recognize talent in Palin. Now there are moments where Palin needs to answers political questions in a deeper thoughtful way. What I would recommend her doing is answer questions reiterating her points made on her posts on Facebook as well as giving examples on what she has done as Alaskan governor or any of her executive posts. I can see she is gaining the confidence at Fox News and once she builds on these communication points and stays true to herself, she’s golden.

For the meantime, Palin is making appearances across the country at speaking events, endorsing candidates, and speaking out on issues that matter. She is still is a hot commodity in political circles.

Palin is also utilizing new media with Facebook and Twitter and is on the right track. Does this mean she is running in 2012? Who knows. She is smartly leaving the interest out in the open and the media still obsesses with her because she is enticing them.

As Ed Morrissey noted, Palin has enough time. Her appearance on Leno will benefit her in the long run. It is just a matter of what she does in the future.

Underestimate her at your own peril.

Sarah Palin on the Jay Leno Show

Sarah Palin went on Jay Leno tonight and aside from the typical interview she did a standup comedy bit. I was nervous, but I’m not sure why because she was fabulous. I do wish that during the interview Jay would have asked more personal questions so that maybe we would have learned something we didn’t already know. Seems like every interview she does is about the tea parties…and whether or not she’s the leader.

All in all it was a great night for her. Enjoy the show:

Fail: Radio host with Palin Derangement Syndrome

Lizz Winstead and GottaLaff sound like 2 school girls in a junior high bathroom talking about why they hate the most popular girl in school. It’s hilarious!

There’s really not much point in refuting most of what they say, but I did want to touch on one thing. Early in the clip GottaLaff paints Sarah Palin as stoopid for saying that the tea parties should take over the Republican party when she had earlier said, at the National Tea Party Convention, that the Republican party should absorb the tea parties. You’d think someone of superior liberal intellect would understand that Sarah was saying that it should be the agenda of the tea parties to go through the Republican party to affect change in Washington, but that the Republican party shouldn’t shun the tea parties away, but absorb them because they are a powerful movement. She’s just trying to bring them together, that’s all. But I guess that is pretty confusing for a couple of school girls.

The best part comes at the end of the clip, after both ladies just rail against Palin about all of her mistakes and how stoopid she is. I’ll let it be a surprise. It was my favorite LOL moment:

Sarah Palin responds to Tea Party extremists and Family Guy

Palin counters Bill several times quite well on this “tea party extremist” crap, but my favorite was when she said that we shouldn’t take away their first amendment rights. That was awesome.

And the rest is history………..

Rush defends Sarah Palin’s choice to campaign for John McCain

He’s basically saying he’s not bothered by her campaigning for what we would call a RINO, or at least a big government republican. I’ve felt this way for a while, that she’s really doing it because the media would go wild if she didn’t endorse McCain after running with him on a presidential ticket. They are out to get her at all costs and because of that she’s very guarded.

So despite Beck’s hesitancy over Palin’s decision, I understand and agree with why Rush says he gives her the benefit of the doubt. After all, I do think she is the real deal.

Ann Coulter: It’s not likely that Sarah Palin will be the Nominee in 2012

Of all the gifts that one could give an interviewer, Geraldo missed this one completely. A simple follow up of “why not” to Ann’s assertion that she didn’t think Palin would likely be the nominee in 2012 would seem almost mandatory. I guess that by leading with the fact that she didn’t think Palin would even run in 2012 and then kept going, she must’ve confused him. Be sure and watch the end for her great comment on Joe Biden!

This actually leads into a poll I was thinking about running today. Liz Cheney has been on the ‘circuit’ recently (including today) criticizing the Obama administration and talking about what we need to do as a country, especially in regards to national security. If you haven’t heard something from her go here and listen. But I’m really curious to see who you would vote for if Sarah Palin and Liz Cheney were your only choices for the Nominee in 2012. Feel free to leave a comment below stating why you feel the way you do.
