CBS and NBC describe Obama’s trip to New Orleans as a “quick trip” and a “detour from campaign trail”

Both CBS and NBC news reporters described Obama’s visit to New Orleans today to survey flood damage as something that sounded more like it had to do with politics than concern for the people of New Orleans.

First CBS News describes it as a “quick trip” that lasted “less than three hours” and then “back to the campaign”:

ABC News offered a little more insight, first calling it a “detour” from the campaign trail and then noting that Louisiana is a “Republican stronghold” and that Obama “has no chance of winning this state.” But then they made reference to Katrina to explain why Obama made the stop, saying that “mishandling this kind of crisis could be politically damaging, especially 2 months before election day”:

Even the reporters see through this. Pathetic.
