This story was never vetted. There is no proof any of it happened & nearly impossible he could have left without the weapon being discovered by police. That is why the police aren't mentioning it, nor is it being reported by anyone else. Yet the gun fetishists and conspiracy theorists jump all over it. no need for proof!
This guy either made it up to be a hero, or wanted to live out the ultimate gun owner's dream, protecting his woman and children from a mass murderer...Unfortunately, saying it doesn't make it true! No shot fired, no witnesses, he "knew" he made eye contact with a guy wearing a hockey mask at a distance, just as the gunman's rifle jams and he runs away to fix it, and no pursuit attempted.

I need not make any other case for my position on why teachers and administrators should not have guns in classrooms. This hero knew that his actions could cost an innocent their life because of the chaos. Armed security professionals (retired law enforcement and vets) have those skills and should be employed for each and every one of our schools and the implementation timeline needs to be now.
This is a very good example of how to use your weapon. I teach this technique, See if it would have been a law enforcement officer, innocent people would have been wounded or worst KILLED. A cop would have emptied his weapon, as they all are prone to this. Never once worrying about down range, Second part is "HE TOOK COVER" and assessed the situation! Kudo's buddy, you can fight next to me any day.
This is how responsible gun owners react. But, the millions of responsible gun owners should be punished because of the few crazies out there. Why does this government want it's citizens to be unarmed? I think we have a dictator wannabe who wants to push his unpopular policies on "we the people" and he doesn't want "we the people" to be able to fight against it. If we give up our right to bare arms, then we give up every other right we have.

All governments are evil, and ours is no different. Some of the founders knew this. One quote goes something like this: "the nature of government is to grow and become tyrannical". Those who seek power are generally not the most humble servants. It is the nature of man that makes all government evil. Power brings out the worst of all human traits. The more power a government has, the more evil it will become. Our system started out with checks and balances that have diminished well beyond their ability to restrain evil in government. Our government will now kill its own citizens to get what it wants. It will kill many people overseas to control a whole region of the world for it true constituents. It will lie with every talking point, and program its citizens to accept their growing tyranny under the guise of protecting them.
Anyone who believes that this government can be controlled by the people, and used for good, is deceiving themselves.
because the want to have control.. the only reason this nation remains safe is because of all the gun owners.. remove the guns and you disarm the largest army in the world..
This young lad is a shining example of what the 2nd Amendment is about: calm and collected in the face of mortal danger, knowing exactly when and when not to shoot.

It looks like the mother of the school shooting was a prepper, and is being vilified for it in the press. She was a gun nut as well.
The interesting thing is that she was the ex-wife of a high up executive in one of G.E.s financial institutions and believed that there was going to be a financial collapse.

It's a great story and maybe a lot of truth yo iy, but whether or not the shooter saw the kid with the gun or the kid actually fired the gun and killed the shooter- not one single fact, not one single incident would bring into question any tenet of the liberals doctrine.
You see part of the requirement to being a b liberal is that you have to demonstrate the capacity to resist the fact, the evidence and the very truth, if necessary, in order to defend the doctrine.

Global warming, guns causing deaths, criticism of black people is proof of racism--none of these propositions requires proof to am liberal and not one can be defeated by facts or argument or demonstration.

So, Scoop, while I admire your dedication to the truth, sending facts to libs to dispute their cherished beliefs is a waste of time. And furthermore, if you believe you can continue to bombard the libs, the illegal voters, the welfare generations with tirades and facts and proof, you are either befooling yourself or befooling the people who contribute here. There will be no easy way out of this communist/socialist mess we've gotten ourselves into. They have the youth and they have the kids coming up next.

As evidence, I offer to you the stories about blacks turning against Obama due to his position on gay marriage and the public outrage of some black pastors encouraging their congregations to vote their conscience instead of their race. We were all starting to believe that tripe as if it were the truth, a miracle from heaven. You will not convert members of the opposition to your cause with logic and argumentation, reason-ability or appeal to moral or religious standards. It just doesn't work when your opposition thinks of you as greedy, rich, lying, racist old windbag.

If people want to understand the big picture, they have to figure out how dependent the American people are. This includes all races, religions, and political factions. Once this is determined, it should be evident that democrats and republican liberals are going to cause this nation to become destitute without any real oposition, and then they will usher in world government. Enjoy the freedoms we still have, because they won't last forever. If you plan to survive coming times, get out of the cities and prepare. The establishment will not allow real political solutions unless the states fight back in a real way. The odds of that are slim.
I'll see if I can find the Levin thread that discussed this. It's about $$$ and who knows, Boehner will probably give it to Barky Boy to save his pet project.

That is just a fight over who is going to run and pay for the bureaucracy of implementing it. The states need to nullify the law, and make the feds try to enforce it against state law. The same is going on with marijuana, why not Obama Care? The states can also make federal taxes go through the state, then use it as leverage against the feds.
There are lots of things that can be done on the state and local level. The sheriff can arrest federal agents for unconstitutional acts. All we really need is a few sheriffs and their posse'.

He followed safety rule #4: Never fire at something if you don't know what's in front or behind the target (ie, know your target). Sounds like this dude had his wits about him and performed well. You never endanger others just to get a shot off. The situation was tense, but he had control of it.
Many people that don't know guns or gun safety are afraid of them and therefore feel all guns should be banned. Gun knowledge and safety for all Americans should be a must learn. Instead of teaching sex in school, perhaps they could replace that with gun safety classes.
With guns in the hands of people properly trained and fully aware, we would have far fewer incidents and the incidents that do occur would be less severe. We need to convince the general population of this point. Taking away the guns of responsible people is not the solution to crimes performed with guns.

I keep thinking about the millions of American men and women who died on the wrong end of a gun barrel so that you and I would continue to have the right to carry one. I have the utmost respect for those who kept the chains from our hands and ankles.
Maybe it's a paradox, but it's one I can live with. Or die fighting for.

Those brave souls fought for many, many freedoms and the youth of today and most of the generation older than they have no idea that those freedoms came at a very high price and to maintain those freedoms comes at a higher price.

Guns also kill lives too in the hands of the wrong people. The 2nd amendment doesn't mean squat to people like the mall or CT shooters. It's obvious why. It's not in the Bible.

Any potential weapon kill lives in the hands of the wrong people (eg, box cutters). 'Thou shalt not murder' doesn't mean squat to those people, either (and that is in the Bible).
This is the first I've heard of this. I wondered why a guy loaded for bear would only shoot three people before taking his own life. The mall shooter from Bosnia, who shot several people in Salt Lake City several years ago, was stopped and cornered by an off-duty cop until help arrived and took the guy out. Good guys with guns have saved many lives.
This young man showed a true understanding of firearms safety. You always make sure of everything that is downrange before you shoot. If there is even a small possibility that you might hit an innocent person, you don't fire.
