Ok this is seriously getting out of control. These idiot administrators who write these stupid rules need to be fired:

KDVR NEWS – A 2nd grader has been suspended from school in Loveland for a make believe game he was playing.

The 7-year-old says he was trying to save the world. But school administrators say he broke a key rule during his pretend play.

“I was trying to save people and I just can’t believe I got dispended,” says Alex Evans, who doesn’t understand his suspension any better than he can pronounce it.

“It’s called ‘rescue the world,’” he says.

He was playing a game during recess at Loveland’s Mary Blair Elementary School and threw an imaginary grenade into a box with pretend evil forces inside.

“I pretended the box, there’s something shaking in it, and I go ‘pshhh.’”

The boy didn’t throw anything real or make any threats against anyone. He explains he was pretending to be the hero. “So nothing can get out and destroy the world.”

But his imaginary play broke the school’s real rules. The school lists “absolutes” designed to keep a safe environment. The list includes absolutely no fighting, real or imaginary; no weapons, real or imaginary.

“Honestly I don’t think the rule is very realistic for kids this age,” says Alex’s mom Mandie Watkins.

Alex is like a lot of 2nd graders, perpetual motion. His mom says the little boy doesn’t understand why pretending to be a soldier was wrong. “I think that when a child is trying to save the world, I don’t think he should be punished for it.”

Email received today from school that suspended 7yr old for playing soldier and throwing imaginary grenade- Don't have whole story until you read email :

I am writing in response to your recent email to the Thompson School District regarding Mary Blair Elementary School.

As a matter of practice, the Thompson School District does not comment publicly on matters of student discipline. In this case, however, the parent of the student has chosen to make this a public issue, and because there appears to be a great deal of misinformation in the media about this matter, we feel compelled to respond.

On February 1, 2013, a student at Mary Blair Elementary School was observed by a teacher throwing rocks at other children on the school’s playground. The teacher, following District procedures, escorted the child to the school principal, whereupon the student’s mother was contacted. Following a discussion with the student and his mother, the principal imposed a 2-hour in-school suspension as a consequence for the student’s behavior. The student was never removed from school grounds by the District.

Just more evidence supporting home schooling. As if we needed more evidence.

The imaginary grenade goes right along with their imaginary curriculum.

He is only mimicking what he sees on TV. Holliweirdos need to be stopped from producing such violence. Stallone's new one "Bullet to the Head". Is he trying to subliminally tell people to commit suicide with that movie title?

This just in... 10 year old ARRESTED for "brandishing" toy weapon. The article indicates "no one was injured" but I'm quite certain the 10 year old will never be the same after going to Juvee in handcuffs. Here it comes peeps - kids first to set the tone, then the adults.

Anybody else here think newly registered gun owners are going to be the first ones on the list to get a knock on the door?

Is it just me or are all of the children being nitpicked white? Don't minority children play any more or are there 2 sets of rules....

It should be a make believe suspension to go along with the imaginary weapon. How did they know what kind of weapon was used and how many imaginary people died? The only dead things I can see are the brain dead school officials?

Yet the news is full of stories of violence, movies and TVs are filled with it.

The anti-gun Liberals have created such a “gun paranoia” they are now applying school suspensions for the smallest of innocent infractions and this has the potential to leading to more troubled children down the road. By suspending 5 & 6 year old for pretend “gun play” is just nuts. Most 6-year-old’ minds aren't developed enough to understand why their idea of fun play might make adults upset. But by glorifying the incident and overreacting by suspending them from school, will now forever be a “ vivid memory” in those little heads. And it will not only become a lifetime memory for them but also for those around them and this is not a good thing. Had the incidents just been ignored in would have been forgotten within 5 minutes of play. Now had there been REAL evidence of a danger from a real weapon, the punishment is justifiable. But by glorifying a innocent situation, may be negative attention BUT its still attention all the same and by singling out 1 student will remembered by all. These situations have become way over blown all in the quest for political points and publicity, and it’s the children who are going to pay in the end.

And the incident will be permanently in their school records all the way to college!

And the fall out of these episodes is not going to be known for years. People will look back and wonder why and most will never admit they were part of the problem.

Look @ what we have learned from the children whom were victims of fires when they were young. If they were not given the proper professional help, some developed a fascination with fire later in their adult lives and became fire starters themselves.

As each day passes and we see more and more of these stories...more problems start to arise...as my grandmother would say..."they done gone and open themselves up to a big O can of whup - ass!"

So now Colorado is suspending students for what they think?

Nice form kid. Fire the teachers and start over again. Put all the administrators in class on the Constitution and the Bill of Rights then make them disabuse themselves of the Law of Positivism and the idea of a "living Constitution" on pain of being fired on the spot for any

further violation of same.

Might as well ban children now and make it illegal to have children. They aren't allowed to have imaginations anymore which is pathetic and part of what is wrong with our culture. Infringe on freedom of speech but what about from of thought? This is ridiculous since it was only an imagination and NOTHING was thrown to take the place of the imaginary grenade. Heck he was only emulating soldiers.

The imagination of the adults in this case is more real than that of the children.

IDIOTS!!! And this is in my own back yard??? If anywhere should be OK with this kind of thing it's Colorado.

Look, let me preach to the choir here: one of these days, young boys like mine will grow up to walk the line and carry real firearms to keep dear old dad and all these liberals safe from harm.

The USA is a soap bubble of safety because we take the fight to the bad guys and blow holes in their deserts instead of in our cities. It's ugly, but that's how it is.

I grew up on a military base, myself, and playing at "war" was one of our favorite pastimes. I don't think our M-16 carrying parents had an issue with it. It's only in the soap bubble that people are free to think in such a lofty way that they forget the ugly truth behind their illusion of security.

[ed] PS: we are home schoolers and proud.

"No weapons, real or imaginary"

Thought police anyone? Seriously.

You know, hang on... they'll eventually throw every little boy out of public school, as I can't honestly think of any little boy who hasn't fought or imagined a stick to be a weapon of some kind at some point, ...and getting the kids outside public school is what we want.

Keep going on, guys! In fact, make that suspension permanent, district-wide. I also think you should completely ban anything with sugar or salt in it. If the kids eat anything with sugar or salt, you should send them home, permanently.

Home schooling and private schooling is the future, and I'm alright if they want to help push people in that direction.

I live in the area where a five year-old told two friends that she was going to shoot them with her bubble machine. She was suspended - and before she was suspended - interrogated like a common criminal. The school officials claimed that they were just following the law. I guess the law didn't stipulate that you treat a little kid differently than someone older, and they didn't have the common sense to do so on their own.

Scoop, I'm with you. Fire these yahoos who come up with these foolish rules. Next thing you know they'll want to take babies from the womb to re educate them before birth. Evil must be stopped NOW!

steprock

You know what? You're right: this is evil.

Disarming boys and indoctrinating children in this way is evil. Making them stop at imaginary games is evil. Teaching kids that being a hero is wrong is evil.

Irony: the same people who insist that we should 'practice tolerance' are same people who insist on 'zero tolerance' policies and zones for things they can't tolerate (common sense, for example)

Nukeman60
Nukeman60

Ok, I've finally come to a conclusion as to why these people keep doing this. It's very simple, actually. They are not trying to influence you or me as to whether these kids did anything wrong. That will never happen. We know better and we realize these situations are ridiculous.

The targeted goal for them is to influence the kids themselves, either by the expulsion itself or by the fear of other kids that they will also get kicked out. It's indoctrination at it's fullest extent. Before long, the kids will be saying to themselves and to each other, "Hey, it's criminal to think for ourselves. We must think the way the handlers tell us to think."

This is very dangerous and should be attacked where it is being fought - in the minds of our children. We must double down to ensure that our kids are not influenced by this intimidation tactic.
