DeMint: McConnell plan going nowhere

***FULL INTERVIEW ADDED***

McConnell announced a fall back plan earlier today that would give Obama the power to raise the debt ceiling on his own in exchange for cuts that Obama would himself make. But DeMint says the plan is going nowhere:

I can guarantee you Mark that plan is going nowhere. I mean, it is not the plan that Republicans are working on in the Senate. It’s a backup plan that I think Leader McConnell has suggested. But it is not going anywhere. That is not that plan that we as Republicans are going to take forward as our plan. What you are going to see is Cut/Cap/Balance emerge from the House this week.

UPDATE: Here’s the full interview from above. My favorite part is where DeMint is responding to Obama’s Social Security scare tactics today:

[Obama’s] not telling the truth. He thinks we’re stupid. It’s time for us to call his bluff. He’s been gaming Republicans on these negotiations and again, we need to stare him down on it.
