DOE hearing: Damning emails show direct White House links to influence over loan program

Rep. Jim Jordan grills BrightSource Energy CEO John Woolard on the fact that he declares, after a ‘thorough and thoughtful analysis’, that the $1.6 BILLION that his company received in loan guarantees from the DOE were based totally on the merits of his program, despite emails that he sent to people who made decisions on the distribution of stimulus money citing conversations and communications that came directly from the White House, Obama and his Chief of Staff, Rahm Emmanuel.

At the end of Jordan’s questioning, he points out the discrepancies between what he’s learned from the BrightSource emails and denials made by DOE Secretary Chu in previous testimony, at which point Issa says he will be inviting Chu back to answer these discrepancies.
