This morning I happened to hear a dialogue on Morning Joe about the Sarah Palin / David Letterman ‘controversy‘. Well, it isn’t much of a controversy, Letterman was wrong. But the argument from the left, according to Donnie Deutch, is that Sarah’s oldest daughter is “fair game” since she’s been in the media so much and they accuse Sarah Palin of exploiting her daughter, starting at the convention. Just skip to 2:30 to hear Donnie Deutch discuss how offended he is a Sarah Palin and how she exploits her children.
First, this is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. According to this logic, The Obama’s have been exploiting their children too. Both Sasha and Malia walked on stage at the DNC and have been on the cover of many magazines. Just google it and you’ll find it.
Second, Bristol Palin is 18 years old. Everyone knows that an 18 year old child can and will make their own decisions. To accuse Sarah Palin of not exerting more control over what her daughter was able to do is to expect Sarah to treat Bristol like a young child. She’s 18 and she needs to make her own decisions.
Third, Donnie’s real problem is that both Sarah and Bristol advocate abstinence, though it’s clear that Bristol didn’t practice it. But to say that someone who has failed at something can no longer offer substantial advice on the matter is pure bologna. Many times, those who have failed at something, abstinence or not, can offer the best advice, as they have experienced the consequences directly. They are related to this issue directly and are often the best spokespersons to carry their message.
And lastly, since when does someone being in the public arena mean they are ‘fair game’ for such insults as David Letterman said of Sarah and Bristol Palin. Because she’s 18 and in the public eye, it’s okay to call Bristol Palin a whore on national television? This from the man who also had a child out of wedlock? WTF!
This kind of nonsense is the kind of vitriol that the left subjects to people on the right all the time. But let someone on the right call Michelle Obama a bitch, or something worse, and the whole of the media will obliterate the person who said it. This type of hypocrisy broods in the souls of those ideologues whose agenda outweighs anything else.
Kind of reminds me of what happened at the holocaust museum, just not as technicolor.
