EAG News went on the ground at the Capitol in Lansing, MI and managed to interview a few union members about Right to Work, what they’d want to see happen and so forth. There were several responses that I found interesting, but the one that stood out to me was where a guy said “there’s all kind of places you can work where there’s not a union” like McDonalds and Wal-mart. That’s the same argument people make against banning smoking in restaurants, that if you don’t like cigarette smoke then pick a different restaurant. But these are people’s livelihoods here. Why should I have to take a low paying job at Wal-mart or McDonalds just because I don’t want to work in a union? That’s totally unfair.

If you want equal wages the first thing you need to do is get rid of union bigwigs and give there wages to the lowest paid workers. there is just to much disparity in wages from the union bigwigs to the lowest union workers

I wonder what union members think of "rubberrooms" for teachers. Are teachers in rubberrooms maligned? Why would not administrators allow these folks to teach our kids?

Are there the equivalent of "rubberrroms" in private industry?

A union member complaining about people freeloading. Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahah

(wipes tears from eyes)

These morons can't even get their stories straight. Half are complaining that RTW means people will come in and work for less than a union member and the other half are complaining that people will come in and get the same pay and benefits as union members without having to support the union efforts that obtained those. Make up your minds, you can't have it both ways!

Unions are NOT about protecting workers. As Jonah Goldberg explained in "Liberal Fascism", the union movement began as part of the Progressive (aka socialist/communist) movement as a means of stealing the means of production away from the owners.

It is time to outlaw labor unions. There is no difference between them and organized crime.

If you are to understand this, you have to put your mind in the dark corner of surreality that they live in....

In their world companies have always existed as an infrastructure. There is no entrepreneur.

In their world companies exist to give them a job. Companies should not profit. They should employ people and take care of them cradle to grave.

In their world companies are only forced to take care of their employees. Companies have no mutual interest in the quality of life for their employees.

In their world they have a right to bully their employer into a higher than market wage because the average american citizen shouldn't be expected to take personal responsibility for improving their financial circumstances.

Since their world doesn't exist, they cling to failed Marxist theories of the past to convince themselves that it can exist.

And how many union pukes are running after the low-wage jobs out there?

I've seen it first hand... union thugs are overpaid and then under perform because they know they won't get fired. These people are the worst that humanity has to offer. And when America finally catches up with Greece... the unions animals will be the first ones out in the streets destroying stuff again.

Keep bleeding America you selfish morons...

Managers who supervise union workers are paid more when they add even more union workers!

WhiteGuy2

Right to work creates choice to join the union or not. It also creates competition among the unions. The large unions will loose their monopoly on the national work force, and that is a win win for the American worker.

"Corporate greed".

What about proletariat and lumpenproletariat greed, aka the parasitic class -- those who have the ability to work themselves and be successful, but instead demand the theft of someone else's earnings?

Who's addressing that?

I'm all for taking care of the poor, as a Christian it's my duty, but robbing people to do it is NOT moral, it's theft.

Notice how they all want "change" but they can't define how that change will be administered or what it will look like when it is. Liberals like to criticize and destroy society, but never have solutions to replace the system they've destroyed!

What you have is a bunch of self-hating, white wing nuts who hate their status in life and want someone else to suffer because of it. They have the ability to succeed but find it easier just to rob others because the slave masters in Washington make that possible and encourage it.

They talk about "the working class" but the "working class" and the parasitic class are not necessarily the same thing. There are those who work in a blue collar trade and are responsible citizens, and then there are those who leech off of society because they lack a work ethic and demand others pay for their laziness. But even in this there are no clear lines of demarcation. Because even some working class are parasites too!

Some people may need temporary government assistance for completely legitimate reasons. I get that. However, I would prefer RELIGIOUS organizations handle this, (which means a greater need for charitable contributions from society) because they are better equiped to provide for the need.

The problem is, radicals hate Christianity and demand the State stop assisting ministries in outreach efforts, because along with the aid comes the Gospel, and that's a violation of the mythical "separation" meme.

So, liberals want it both ways. Those who CAN help and are best equipped to help are pushed aside, while the government, the least qualified to help, is heralded as the savior.

I guess some would rather starve than hear the Gospel message which says, "God loves you and has a plan for your life". And that's just sad.

Because of teacher unions and seniority rules, great teachers make exactly the same as awful ones. The great ones get frustrated and leave and the awful ones hang on forever. This is the main reason for the despicable state of education in our country. I'd be happy to pay teachers twice as much IF they produced educated graduates - it would be a bargain. Instead, were paying a fortune to create morons. Example: eighth graders in Detroit are in the single digits in both reading and math proficiency.

Sooo - the union guys are against 'freeloaders' who may get the same benefits as they do, without paying union fees.

Hm.

So what do they think of the freeloaders who get everything without working at all, from their taxes, which they do pay, I hope?

I can guess: that's all right, because that's socialism, innit, like ...

Michigan union’s will now have the responsibility of convincing a worker in a union shop job it is beneficial to join the union group and contribute cyclical payments for union bosses to send to the socialist democratic political party.

How about union workers find a real job where you don't get a 10 min break every hour, you get fired for drinking beer and smoking pot on lunch break and you pay for your own health insurance? They wouldn't last and should they ever decide to become a Realtor like I was for many years they'd have to work on weekends, to say nothing of the horror of being paid on only what you produce. I doubt most of them would survive but they would learn what it is like to work for a living.

Orangeone

Are you daring to suggest they get real jobs?????? That's enough to cause their hearts to fail, especially with the notion they would have to work to get paid!

"Would you like fries with that?"

Hell no! Do I look like a money tree? Besides, I wanted to trade in this half-eaten apple pie I got before unionization.

By the way, do you have take out orders?

"Yes."

Ok, grab your coat and let's blow this refreshment stand.

"At least with the teacher's unions you do have a choice not to join them."

That depends upon the state. In Illinois, for example, all public K-12 teachers are required to join their local union and pay dues.

Chad Whitehead
Chad Whitehead

yeah, same thing with the teacher's unions. At least with the teacher's unions you do have a choice not to join them. Most unions are a racket that reward people with positions and money that is not needed. As Rush Limbaugh has said it's all funneled to the Democrat party.

Side: I read that as "I've got a soon to be 86 year old son" - and had to do a double take! :-)

tinlizzieowner
tinlizzieowner

I actually have to work today too. I've got a soon to be 86 year old (non union made) Ford that doesn't want to start right up, like it usually does. It sat for 16 years without being started and I got it running, so 6 months shouldn't be that big a deal. Of course, it was made by workers who took pride in their work and worked for a guy who would have been able to can them on the spot, if they were drinking or drugged on the job.

Wolfie
Wolfie

Ah-ha! Thanks for clearing that up... I'm off now for my mandatory 10 minutes break every 10 minute union job. (yawn) It's 11.26 am... Man I'm here almost 3 hours... Time to clock out and hit the bar... Dang it, it's not easy working 14 hours a month with full benefits and health these day... Some day I actually have to do WORK!! I took it up with my shop steward and we might have a strike next week if the slaveowners of management don't knock it off!! ;-)

Rshill7

Union vermin are angry that employees who do not join or pay dues to the union will get Union benefits without having to pay for them.

They don't seem to have a problem with 49% of the entire population getting government benefits without paying for them. A huge chunk of them get everything they have from government without paying for it, never working a day in their lives.

Consistency would dictate that they pay for it. Consistency would also dictate that the pro-choice position would apply to something other than killing babies.

Democrats and Unions...consistently inconsistent.

Those big inflatable rats they use are modeled after their leaders.

Michigan legislature is now voting to exempt Michigan citizens from NDAA.
