This story is all over the print media this morning and it’s looking more and more like Egypt could eventually devolve into a civil war. These protests just haven’t yielded since Morsi rammed through his Sharia Constitution – in fact they seem to be fueling themselves. Remember, these are the same people who just a couple of years ago overthrew the last regime. They know they power of protest:

YAHOO NEWS — Egypt’s army chief warned Tuesday that the state could collapse if the latest political crisis roiling the nation drags on but also defended the right of people to protest.

Troops deployed in the two riot-torn Suez Canal cities of Port Said and Suez stood by and watched Monday night as thousands took to the streets in direct defiance of a night curfew and a state of emergency declared by the president a day earlier. Residents of those two cities and Ismailiya, a third city also the emergency, marched through the streets just as the curfew came into force at 9 p.m.

The display of contempt for the president’s decision was tantamount to an outright rebellion that many worried could spread to other parts of the country. Already, protesters across much of Egypt are battling police, cutting off roads and railway lines, and besieging government offices and police stations as part of a growing revolt against the rule of Islamist President Mohammed Morsi and his Muslim Brotherhood group.

At least 60 people have been killed since Friday.

Morsi’s opponents protest that Islamists have monopolized power and not lived up to the ideals of the pro-democracy uprising that ousted authoritarian leader Hosni Mubarak nearly two years ago.

“The continuation of the conflict between the different political forces and their differences over how the country should be run could lead to the collapse of the state and threaten future generations,” said the army chief, Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi, who is both head of the military and defense minister.

Better that it collapse and real democracy emerge than that it go on with the muslum botherhood. They should go on trial by the people of Egypt....

More Muslim fratricide. I care not about a group of people who have proven themselves to be murderous thugs or who are complicit with murderous thugs. They deserve all of the death, revolutions, and violence they cause.

Well...we all knew this was coming. It looks like Egypt is heading down the Syria path. It's gonna get ugly folks.

Well, we should give Syria... um, I mean Egypt, more military aid then. They'll need the F-16s and 200 tanks to crush the opposition.

Some clowns argue that this military arms deal was made in good faith with the former regime and we should honor it. Pah!!! The new boss is an animal. A brutal dictator who is supported by a corrupt, ravenous Muslim Brotherhood who hates Israel and America... and America should hand them some of our advanced weapons? Tipping the military balance in the region? Arming our enemies? Lol... the idiocy of this is ridiculously clear. So... Obama wants to help his brothers in the desert... on our tab. Through our taxes. And our media lets it slide... again.

And the plague that is Sharia is sickening... while the whole country is a Muslim quagmire... I still hope they topple Morsi and stop this insanity. Then, I hope a more conservative government is set up and that peace and stability are restored. Not likely... but...

Oh and the American weapons? Stop the shipment(s) RIGHT FREAKIN NOW! How hard is this?

Yeah, I like this whole "Rules ard rules, we have to honor our commitments" BS the leftists use to justify giving F16's and tanks to Egypt. When it comes to the senate passing a budget, forget the rules. As far as Obama, there are too many examples of his flauting the rules for me to name, besides it only sickens me to think about them.

Agreed... spot on.

Obama only obeys the laws and rules when it benefits HIM.

That "ARAB SPRING" stuff is turning into the Arabs nightmare.

Egypt is getting a dose of what we got here in America with Obama, a march towards dictatorship. How does it feel now, Egypt? Are you ready to take off the rose-colored glasses yet, and see the world in cold black and white?

You've been had by Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood!

Virginiagent- I've missed you.

I looked you up today and read some of your recent postings. I hope you continue to improve health wise. I think of you often, and check in from time to time at the hangout with banished, ostracized…and frankly just some rebels!! :-)

Listen to the boss! Remember, a happy wife, is a happy life. At least that's what my hubby says. Well, we do our best together.

By the way- I love this "" Taco bueno all the do dah day!" from your grandson!!

Take good care friend.

It is nice to hear from you Milady! How are you doing? Since you've read some of my recent posts, you already know how I'm doing.

What 'hangout' are you refering to? I'll hang out there with ya! VG

Gotcha, nod, wink!

I've been to Arizona a number of times over the years. Northern Arizona is my favorite part of the state, especially the mountains around the Flagstaff area. Rustic lodges, woodsmoke on the air, friendly people, and some really great places to eat, all left a pleasent impression on me.

A Happy Birthday to your Mom, and may she have many more!

As for the gun show, I wish I could go with the two of you! I love going to gun shows. Not only can one find the newest technology in weapons, but often there are working pieces that should be in a museum.

Stay warm milady and enjoy yourselves! VG

The newest hangout. nod...wink.

We're doing ok. Hubby wants to go to the gun show later today!

Freezing here. We usually dont have much of a winter (Northern AZ) but we've had a month of cold weather and even some snow!

Im a warm weather gal!

My mom is turning 90 on saturday so we're having a party for her! woo hoo.

Its very hard for her, as my dad- (the were married for 69 years) passed away last year.

Im so glad you're doing fine (if only for today)…once the defib is put in- it should be much better. My brother had one put in last year…and he's back to 100% normal He just got back from a trip to the Ukraine.

Tell your grandson Nacho to see you!

Chinese missile technicians spotted in Egypt working with North Koreans to upgrade Scuds

China is covertly working with North Koreans to modernize Egypt’s short-range missile systems, raising new concerns among United States intelligence officials about the arms programs of the Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated government in Egypt.

http://freebeacon.com/not-so-strange-bedfellows/

That darn Barry.... crazy like a fox. Just wait 'til his bros' get their hands on all the arament and F-16's he's been sending 'em.

mike3e4r7
mike3e4r7

One line in the article you cited, struck me " ... raising new concerns among United States intelligence officials about the arms programs of ...". We really in some ways are witnessing a coup in our own country.

Undoubtedly the vast majority of men and women in our military and intelligence services are patriotic people doing their job of looking after America's security. They have concerns about China and North Korea working to modernize Egypt's short-range missle systems. Unfortunately, their boss, the dictator Obama, does not share these concerns and is actively working to undercut them and our security.

stage9

"... raising new concerns"

Annnnnd that's about it --"concern".

Have someone at the State Department issue a statement will you, and have them use the word "unfortunate" in their response.

Example:

Iran has threatened to murder the Jews and in response officials in the Obama Administration say that this sort of language is unfortunate.

NO! THIS SORT OF LANGUAGE IS EVIL! SAY IT!

Orangeone
Orangeone

"unfortunate" and "unexpected"

stage9
stage9

lol! oh, right, "unexpected"! I forgot that one.

Example:

Though the rest of the world warned the Obama Administration that backing the muslim brotherhood in Egypt would bring with it persecution of Coptic Christians, the administration still proceeded to back Morsi anyway, believing his election to be the will of the people. When asked about the rise in recent violence, ("rise in recent violence" is another one), the president said that it was "unexpected".

Orangeone

And Kerry is on the way to help them!

Conservator1
Conservator1

Let's not forget why Obama went with Chuck Hagel. With Kerry as SOS and Hagel running the Defense Department, President Mohammed Morsi and his jihadist minions will rule nations from the shores of Eastern Africa to the shores of Eastern Asia and everything in between.

That's Obama's foreign policy and he will gladly join forces with radical Muslims and wipe Israeli off the map. I long for the good old days of Jimmy Carter.

The key to this always will be the Army. If the Army supports the salafists and the Muslim Brotherhood, then it's game over. A lot of people may die in the civil war, but if the Army is on the side of the radical Islamists, then they win. Question is, could this situation degenerate into another Syria? Maybe, but only if you see large numbers of Army units rebelling as well. Either way, it's going to be bloody.

mike3e4r7
mike3e4r7

I don't see this turning into another Syria, only because there's nobody to arm these 'rebels'. Obama has picked Morsi as his guy, so the resistance won't be getting arms from us. It's unlikely anyone else would be sending them arms except maybe the Israelis.

virginiagentleman1
virginiagentleman1

You make a great point LS46, but there is one problem that I can see. Morsi is doing exactly what Obama is doing with our own Armed Forces, replacing the generals and admirals with his own sychopants.

I agree my friend, there will be lots of blood shed. The Arab Spring has turned into the Arab Tragedy.

“The continuation of the conflict between the different political forces and their differences over how the country should be run could lead to the collapse of the state and threaten future generations." - Egyptian Army chief

It's interesting that the path Egypt is taking could lead to civil war and this path was created and supported by Obama. In the same token, the path our country is taking, created and supported by Obama, could very well end the same way.

Is anyone surprised?

Orangeone
Orangeone

No I'm not surprised and I wonder when Egypt will use his F-16s to attack America. Remember, Joe Biden said we can absorb another 9/11. And that would be Barky's opening to declare martial law. With illegal alien amnesty, his illegals terrorists in our nation will be citizens.

So we're out of thread below so I jumped back up. I love the Star Trek theme, particularly since trolls, like Sense_n_Sensibility, have no brains :) ABinC would like to know the role of the Clingons.....

Nukeman60
Nukeman60

Much like the three main characters on Star Trek, Plato taught us that there are three parts to the soul - the appetitive (base desires - Bones), the rational (mind or intellect - Spock), and the Spirited (Kirk) who is the source of the desires that love honor and victory (ensuring the dictates of reason are followed).

In a society those three are the worker class (simple laborers), the Guardian class (the Philosopher Kings), and the auxiliary class (soldiers and enforcers), in the same order as above.

Sooo, I don't know which of each we are, but the monkey in the middle is nevertheless kept in check, lol.

End of Philosophy class or episode of Star Trek, whichever you so choose.

Beam me up now.

If they never arrive in Egypt but become the property of Egypt, they don't need to travel far to attack our coast. It's that look the other way on gun control and immigration while Joe Biden's premise happens that worries me.
