Emanuel Cleaver: Obama’s budget is a “nervous breakdown on paper”

Obama’s latest farce of a budget proposal was slammed today by Democrat Rep. Emanuel Cleaver of Missouri, of all people.

Unfortunately, while the lede quote is hard to disagree with it doesn’t really comport with the rest of what Cleaver had to say in this clip. You’ll notice that Cleaver also implies in this interview that the hundreds of billions of dollars in brand-new spending that Obama is proposing is tantamount to the federal government “shutting off the spigot completely.” Now he might have actually been referring to Republican straw men – you know, the ones who are proposing that we eliminate federal spending altogether. It’s hard to tell. But in any case Cleaver certainly appears to be firmly in the “no-stimulus-is-too-big” camp, even as he condemns Obama’s proposal as a “nervous breakdown on paper.”

Utter incoherence. But even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Hat tip to JWF for the video.
