In an interview today with Breitbart’s Larry O’Connor, Mitt Romney promised to file Obamacare repeal legislation on the day he takes office if he is elected President.

This is encouraging to hear. To my knowledge, up to this point Romney has merely promised to issue Obamacare waivers to the states on Day One. When he has mentioned repealing the bill outright, he has always been quick to point out that Congress would need to be on board with that as well. Which is true, but at least Romney is now promising to lead on the issue of repeal, and not just sit around waiting for Congress to send him a bill to sign.

Better late than never I suppose, and of course the Supreme Court will hopefully render this moot anyway.

Those who have engaged Romney on Obamacare stress a critical election issue that he feels strongly about is heathcare rationing for seniors built into Obamacare. Romney and the GOP broadly need to focus on rationing built into Obamacare that will impact adversely every senior. Some of the things we all need to be talking about include (a) Donald Berwick's preference to the National Heathcare Model in England and his stamp on almost all requlations (b) The Independent Patment Advisory Panels thrust to replicate the EU's rationing of healthcare based on work status and age eg no knee replacement after age 78 (c) the Innovation Center's $10 billion project to cut cost like the Canadians have done so much that most cancer patients now come to the US for treatment (d) Accountable Care Organizations built in bias against referals to Teaching Hospitals who are on the cutting edge on new treatments and trials (e) Reduced funding for teaching hospitals that will result in reduced access to Specialists because the Feds believe we have too many specialists (f) Pharmacy Formularies specified in Insurance Exchange Regulations that can reduce access to expensive new drugs much as has occured in England where almost half of our 100 most commonly used drugs are excluded (g) Durable medical Equipment and other taxes that will detur the use of cutting edge new equipment by both patients and hospitals.

Do you think Mitttens has the inside word that the Supreme Court is going to toss Obamacare, and that is why he makes such a 'severe' statement? Is he going to replace it with Romneycare lite?

But he is now etch a sketching the class warefare game by refusing to lower taxes on the rich? So how low does the 'rich' go? But he has to pander to the Obama crowd while making 'I'll betcha ten grand' comments.

So what will Mittens actually do, smke and mirrors of consolidating while giving the illusion of eliminating? Or establishing a carbon tax for the global warming crowd?

Will the real Mittens please stand up?

as for me, I'm writing in for president.

I would just like to remind everyone that this primary is not over. There are still millions of people that have not picked a nominee, and there are still three candidates in this race.

Once you've capitulated, I guess you're not interested in anything other than "keep moving, folks, nothing to see here" - then there is the rest of us! Please keep fighting and believing. We can "Go Rogue" all the way to Tampa!!!

I know everyone is worried about how conservative he will govern....me included. I hope to heck he comes out and shocks everyone with a strong conservative approach. It's my understanding that Reagan was expected to be a moderate and he turned out to be a great conservative, so it's possibe....right?

I didn't hear "I promise" I heard "I certainly imagine..."

Yeah, so do we. Some of us certainly imagine you might actually be a conservative... not exactly the bold leadership we were looking for.

P.S. This audio is so good I can hear how good your hair looks Mittens.

Your boy Santorum needs to stop sending anti-Romney messages and letters to the people of Iowa.

Does he really want Obama again?

His action is unseemly.

I can hear the debate now;

willard: R0mneycare is better than 0b0macare, and I will file legislation saying so.

0b0: 0b0macare is superior to R0mneycare and will do away with R0mneycare.

willard: no it ain't

Bishop Willard has already engaged Pam Bondi to help him implement his own version of Obamacare nee Hillarycare. She's packing her bags for DC as we speak.

Romneycare is wonderful - according to breathlessly-smitten Bondi (must be the slick combed-back Elvis do that gets them): http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=lJNGvIpdjnU

The People of the Socialist Republic of Massachusetts (aka Taxachusetts) DO NOT LIKE Romneycare. They were not all that fond of Romney either.

The RNC has selected an unacceptable candidate for us.

We must let them know they cannot foist a liberal, lying, government dollar and pension funds raider as our nominee if they want our vote.

Then, why are people voting for him? People have had months to NOT vote for Romney..........and they do.........just because the "establishment" wants Romney doesn't mean "We the people" want him. Like I've said before stop voting for Romney!

Smart Meters ! ! Those are high on the list of 'to-do' items as far as Agenda 21 is concerned.

For others that don't know, What are Smart Meters? Power meters that monitor your electric usage, 24 hrs/day, and relay it back to 'central control', where it becomes part of a nation wide 'Smart Grid', designed to, supposedly, help better protect and utilize our electric grid, nation-wide. Start your education...google it.

Like eating an elephant...there is lots there, so where you start doesn't really matter. Just START, and take it from there.

Many of us here are well informed on Agenda 21 and it's over reach. Trust me, people are ticked! I believe our dear leader, Mr. Dictator just signed an executive order giving the government control over the oceans, interior waterways, any place that moisture from the sky happens to land. I'll have to look up a link, (it may have been on Cavuto's show, some congressman from TX), but every day I get more angry as do many, many others.

We are in serious times and are losing our liberty, as Bill Whittle said..... Slowly, Slowly.

lostdutchman
lostdutchman

It's EO 13547...Stewardship of the Oceans, etc. This isn't new...the UN based Law of the Seas Convention (and resulting treaty) of 1982 got the ball rolling. I'm pretty sure it also plays into Agenda 21, since that is a world-wide program. I bet this is the one, since it also involves the Great Lakes, and ANY navigable waterway. None of this stuff ever gets into the Congress, it just becomes imbedded in departmental protocol and assumes operational status. When A-21 was signed by GHW Bush in '92, the Senate vetoed it out, big time, but it still became 'established". I believe I read that GHWB later recanted his signing of the Agenda 21 treaty at the UN Rio Earth Summit in '92.

Try EO 13580, proposing becoming involved (helping?)in energy development assistance in the state of Alaska, including permitting. BO is already contemplating the transfer of 5 or 7 islands at the end of the Aleutian chain to Russia, which contains millions of bbls of oil, without Alaska's approval (since it is part of Alaska)

While you're looking, check out EO 13575, titled the White House Rural Council (unofficially, the "Transfer of the Midwest to the UN"). Be prepared for your hair to catch fire.

And don't give Pres Clinton a free skate. His EO 12852, President's Council on Sustainable Development, is another 'good' read as well.

Yes...Whittle compared us , not to a frog being slowly boiled, but to crabs in increasingly hot water. As one tries to climb out, the others grab hold of it and pull it back into the pot.

NO ONE is that well informed on the Agenda 21. That includes ICLEI, too.

Keep holding our Congress people's feet to the A-21 fires?

Gee, Newt said he expected to be able to SIGN it after taking the oath of office, but if that's all the better Mitt can do, it's a start. I guess he expects to have to take a 'few days' to figure out how things work in Washington, so he can get the ball rolling? That's OK, it isn't like we're in a hurry, or anything.

After all, working with a Congress it isn't quite like herding cats.... quite. Ever actually tried to herd a bunch of cats, or prima donnas, in your experience as an 'Executive', Mitt? If you get no cooperation, you can't just fire any who resist. Politics may not be much on a resume, but that depends, just a little bit, on what your role was, and where.

That's all right. Maybe Newt will help you out if you get stuck. But don't wait too long to ask... we'll all be watching.

Maybe not the place for this comment but come on Romney today we saw the final final space shuttle being carried over DC. Did you mention the high skill jobs LOST? and get off your dead butt and investigate the ARRA for job loses, the Smart Meters funded by Obama will eliminate 400 jobs in the DC/Maryland area. All meter readers will lose there jobs and it is being hailed by the Progressives as cost saving.

He's said he's going to repeal it every opportunity he's had to say so. No one listens though. They're so pumped to call him a Rino and declare he loves universal health care that they don't actually listen to his words.

He's not my choice but the fact that his stupid Romneycare exists doesn't mean he's a marxist like Obama who wants to enslave all mankind.

FreeManWalking
FreeManWalking

Actually he didn't say repeal, in every debate, plus he still doesn't think state government run healthcare is even a little bad like federal.

Oh we listen, and hearing isn't the problem we have, the problem we have is believing that he means what he says.

He is the one that wasn't listening in the debates, because Newt explained how to accomplish the repeal, along with 2 other pieces of legislation that is tying the arms of businesses behind their back.

Like Newt said, request congress stay in session after they are sworn in, pass a repeal of 0b0care, sarbains-oxley, frank-didd so he could sign on the 20th right after he kicks out the czars and moves the Israeli embassy to Jerusalem.

But I can agree with you on one point, "He's not my choice"!

Well I'd love to have Newt but the GOP made sure we didn't have that choice. So we need to be very very certain of allegations we make against someone just because we're mad our guy didn't get in. Romney wanting federally mandated healthcare and a marxist society is NOT true.

And whether he likes state run this or that is irrelevant, it's up to the states. He has said his health plan was good for the state, not for the federal govt. He has said that EVERY SINGLE debate.

FreeManWalking
FreeManWalking

First and Foremost, Willard ain't the Nominee, at least yet, everyone and every outlet may be singing the tune and playing the fiddle but it ain't over till its over.

I know he has defended his State run Government healthcare in every debate, that is the problem seriously conservatives have with trusting him to do anything with federal.

Look RJ, I am not Romney's problem, Romney is Romney's problem, i pulled the lever for Dolt over Clinton, McCaint over 0b0, and will most likely pull it for Romney.

But after he has run the dirtiest, nastiest, vile campaign against much better men and women than he ever could hope to be, there will be those that will not cross that line and will end up voting conscience over party damn the consequences.

Personally I can't fault anyone for doing that, not after what I have seen during this primary. This could very well be and I hope it is the last time I vote GOP, I hope the TEA party will put up a conservative on every ballot against the GOP, Dems, and Greens.

Caution: Don't get too ecstatic if you see mitt up in the polls either, because that can backfire especially on willard. 1) it will drive down the conservative vote because a lot of conservatives despise him and say they will not vote, and a high poll number could drive fence sitters to stay home or not pull the trigger on him. 2) it could be an incentive that helps the dems to get out the vote.

I think the key is that the bill does not have a severability clause and so if the mandate is flushed so "should" go the bill.

MaxineCA
MaxineCA

My thoughts exactly since the beginning. When I was in the business world, we always had a severability clause in all of our contracts, since many states have different laws. But if any section was found to be not compliant with a state law, it was modified, but the customer was still bound to all of the other terms and conditions of the contract. I'm actually glad they took it out of Obamacare, but I never understood why they took it out.

It will be interesting to get the SCOTUS rulings on the matter.

hbnolikeee

I don't think they took it out. I think in their haste to push a 2700 page turd out of their collective colon they slipped up.

I am so disgusted with the RNC and this whole election process. Let me use a car analogy to make my point.

Say you currently have a crappy car (POTUS) - not reliable (to allies), not safe (national security/border) and has a malfunction everyday that makes you angry and it's breaking your budget. Your mechanic tells you that you have until June (my primary) to make a decision.

You start preparing, go to the car lot and look at all of the models available (8 candidates) and go home to do your research on each model. Every time you make a decision, you return to the car dealership only to find that model is no longer available. (candidates have dropped out of the race).

Finally it's decision day (your car really ticks you off more every day). You return to purchase your car of the last available models. Then the car salesman tells you the company (RNC) won't allow him to sell or support that model and you only had one you could buy. You tell him the reviews are not good and he says:

You can keep the piece of crap you have now or this model. Sorry mam, but company policy.

Moral of the story - wait for the car show in Tampa!

FreeManWalking
FreeManWalking

Great analogy Grace! My car is still limping along.

But it appears about all my car can do now is play demolition derby, to keep the RNC model from crossing the finish line.

I hope hood flies off, or all four tires loose air, engine blows up or a thousand other possibilities end up derailing the RNC model

....and if you want to replace it Willard.....replace it with one line.....we can buy health insurance across state lines. THAT would fall under the commerce clause. That is the only thing that the federal gov't has constitutional authority to do when it comes to our medical decisions.

Jaynie59
Jaynie59

That article is bull. Even if every assertion it makes were true, it would mean that Romney managed to pull off a win when Steele's rules were specifically meant to deny him the nomination. Oh, right, because he's so rich. Yeah.

Never forget that a lot of the Tea Party's are Libertarian. They're not conservative no matter how many times they call themselves that. Ron Paul supporters, for example, have made a concerted effort to redefine what conservatism means in order to counter true conservatives like that Jew Mark Levin. The Tea Party near my old house in Massachusetts went so far in the tank for Glenn Beck that I had to unsubscribe from their email list because I couldn't stand their stupid emails anymore.

Don't fall for it. No true conservative would ever defend Michael Steele's tenure as head of the RNC. He was a disaster, both financially and from a public relations standpoint.

It was no surprise to anyone when Steele got a gig on MSNBC. Of course he would go there. It's right up his alley.

With Romney....well, GET IT IN WRITING.

Better make sure the TEA Party conservatives have a 'CONSERVATIVE Contract With America' that he and his lawyers can't weasel out of.

I'm pretty sure he won't get the nomination, however.

Santorum and Gingrich will be working at the convention, along with other Conservatives to make sure there is a strong conservative platform and commitment from whomever is the nominee.

BETTER PUT IT IN WRITING - with any candidate - ESPECIALLY if it's 'severely non-factual, severely non-truthful' Romney
