Peter King was on CNN this morning to discuss events in the Middle East and Soledad wanted to pick a fight with King over remarks that he and others have made regarding Obama’s apology tour to the Muslim world. And she got one.
What I thought was revealing was how O’Brien claimed that she’s read all of the speeches in question and that she can’t find the words “I’m sorry” or “apology” anywhere in them. She even stated that FactCheck.org couldn’t find them either, to which King replied “I don’t care about fact checks.” It’s as if she’s trying to pin her defense of Obama down to such a technicality that if it doesn’t literally say “I’m sorry” then it’s not an apology. But that’s just ridiculous. Soledad isn’t an idiot, she’s simply trying to protect Obama.
But King was having none of it and hammered right back at her that this indeed was an apology tour, citing examples as to why. Her response to all of that was that it wasn’t an apology, it was a “nuanced approach to diplomacy”.
