Everything he said is exactly what I always said is good for Republicans.  This guy has views based on fact and true understanding.  Doctors, scientists need to be political because they actually are intelligent with facts. Fathers in kids life.  Focus on learning. Flat tax. Insurance should have been overhauled with medicare. PC LIBERALS ARE THE REASON WE ARE NOW WEAKER THAN BEFORE.  LIBERALS TRYING TO SOCIALIZE AMERICA.  ROMAN EMPIRE FELL WITH CLOWNS LIKE YOYO

So, I was in the car, and decided to listen to  the interview with Dr. Ben Carson and Sean Hannity. I truly admire Dr. Carson, and look to his mother as an example of what good parenting can do to help a child's success.

Dr. Carson went onto some very good points, on how the problems this country has are real and undeniable, and how we need to get over the name calling and posturing and work together to address these problems, finding common solutions. I was impressed.

Then Hannity commented on how the leftist liberals were brainwashed into voting for hope and change, and Carson agreed with him.

Dr. Carson and Mr. Hannity, I was not brainwashed. I made my decision based upon the facts that the Bush administration got us into an unnecessary war in Iraq, greatly increased the size of government, and was partly responsible for a near collapse of the financial markets. I did not want another 8 years of a continuation of these policies. Oh, I forgot to mention that the Republican VP candidate appeared to be completely unqualified and unprepared to run the country. You are free to disagree with my choice, but don't insult me by saying it was made without thoughtful exercise.

Since the President has been elected, I'm disappointed that spending continues to increase, and I wish that both parties would come to the table and agree on spending cuts and tax increases that are fair and that do not pose an unfair burden on the poor. I'm very disappointed that the President has chosen Treasury leaders who come from the same Wall Street companies that were too big to fail

I'd like to see a focus on personal responsibility on each of us to do our part to make things better, by educating ourselves and participation in the democratic process. With the Internet, education is more accessible and affordable than in any time in history.

What I have seen from Obama is a largely centrist president, who does make mistakes, but who is trying to make this country better. He is far from a socialist, even in the style of the Europeans.

I would vote for an alternative. A fiscally conservative candidate who balances the rights of the worker with providing opportunity for business growth would be someone I'd look at. At the same time, this candidate should promote personal liberties, allowing those in the minority to have the same rights as the majority. I expect that there are many like me out there.

@pmisnerjr Sorry to tell you, but you were brainwashed, you just think you were not. I am europena and will tell you, where Obama is leading us is European model to socialism.

While there are many things I could say about Dr. Carson, the truth of the words and beliefs he speaks, his ideas that would ACTUALLY work, etc; the most outstanding qualities that cannot be overlooked are his WARMTH and his INTEGRITY.

He is reaching so many people, not just with the truth, but we are connecting because his warmth and selflessness touch our hearts.

Dr. Carson, with all due respect, I am inclined to believe God has indeed picked you up and put you in the political realm

Doctor Carson seemed to me to be almost like Doctor Thomas Sowell, the Rose and Milton Friedman Fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institute, talking with Peter Robinson of Uncommon Knowledge, in discussing his latest version of his book, Intellectuals and Society: Revised and Expanded Edition, http://amzn.to/TAiZvC. Doctor Carson's discussion of the need for personal responsibility and education of the populace is very important to eliminating this sense of entitlement that envelops this country. He stresses that only with proper education can the nation understand what each candidate is stressing the things that should matter most to that voter. His understanding of the Ghetto problem of too many kids being born into a life of “programmed victim-hood”, if not being born into it, then certainly being taught it at the school level, where “Politically Correct”(PC) is all the rage/ norm/allowed. He also discussed how doctors and engineers use facts to make their decisions, rather than ideology. Also, Doctor Carson seem to understand that Health Savings Accounts (HSAs),which were used under the George W. Bush administration, were a great way in which people could save for their medical needs out of pretax dollars. His recognition of the time it takes to simply count the total debt, much less pay it off, was revealing.

Most importantly I think, Doctor Carson recognizes that the main impediment to cheaper healthcare is the elimination of, or at least the constraining of Trial Lawyers, which caused more defensive medicine being conducted rather than good medicine.

Here's your answer.

With any luck, many of you watched 'Killing Lincoln' on the National Geographic Channel last night. It was quite good, objective and contained NO Political 'Spin' what so ever. On the other hand........

Quite coincidentally (and I'm sure it was no coincidence at all), on the History 2 channel, occupying the same time slot, there was a program titled 'Stories From The Road To Freedom', which opened with a speech by Barack Obama and then went on to document every indignantly, oppression and crime foisted upon the Black race by the 'racist' Whites, in the history of America. A blatant 'hit piece' skilfully written to keep the memories of 'Black opression' alive and well in America and in the twisted minds of those like former LAPD Officer Christopher Dorner.

TickedWhiteDude
TickedWhiteDude

Well they have to keep unfairly balanced i guess....I'll check out that Killing Linoln.

tinlizzieowner
tinlizzieowner

You should. It was a timeline documentary about what was happening in the era just before Lincoln's death. It doesn't in any way glorify Johm Wilkes Booth or lessen Lincoln's greatness but there's plenty in it, you'll never read in the history books.

;-) ;-)

Be aware that Dr. Carson is still prescribing a form of socialized medicine - Nationalized medical care with his idea that 'every baby at birth should get a personal medical account'

Nationalized medicine always leads to poor care. Look at the UK.

His tax plan of 10% for everyone with no deductions is actually harder on the poor than the rich by a long shot.

Yes, he is an inspiring Christian and a man of high and noble character and great achievement, but I am not sure about his business, economics and government knowledge and skills.

Let's make sure he is willing to seek wise conservative counsel (Newt, Cruz, Palin, Bachmann, etc.), will be a president for all ethnic backgrounds and will stick by the CONSTITUTION, BILL OF RIGHTS and Conservative principlse and won't attack or mock the TEA Party!

A breath of fresh air Dr. Carson is. My hope is restored (or perhaps refreshed is a better way to put it). I am reading his book "America The Beautiful" as we speak and it is my hope that his spoken and written message permeates the political debates ongoing now and in the future. At a very minimum Dr. Carson should be a Secretary of Education (and I emphasis "minimum"); I cannot agree with anything more than his view of the educational failings of our country. I encourage anyone to try and answer the questions from an 1800s middle school graduation exam that Dr. Carson included in his book, after which he writes that it is doubtful that most college graduates today could answer correctly. I tried and I failed, admittedly. Shame on us!

Like Herman Cain, the right wing embraces any black person with any success or education that is willing to say anything bad about the president. That's why they are swarming around a guy they'd never have over to their homes. These educated black men need to realize how they are being used. In the interview with "Hates Me Some Black Man Hannity" Dr Carson goes on and on about political correctness and free speech...This on a Network that is constantly pushing a "Science is Fantasy" agenda. Dr. Carson should be ashamed of himself and I'd debate President Obama's policies with him...ANYWHERE...ANYTIME.

fletch92131
fletch92131

Ken, I'm not sure I agree with you about any Black person with success or education talking bad about the President. And to suggest they're being used is ludicrous. And your comment about Fox network being a "Science is Fantasy" must be in relation to Anthropogenic Global Warming (AWG) where allegedly thousands of Scientists support the IPCC mantra. Unfortunately, I've seen too much hanky-panky and other scandals within the Global Warming Community to merely by that product lock stock and barrel, without further proof. I have read too many books by noted scientists whose version things is quite different, so I am not biting yet.

Perhaps you haven't watch all 10 segments, http://bit.ly/WL39CV, . They seem to do a very good job of explaining why AWG is only a minor factor in total global warming. Donna Lafromboise, a Canadian investigative journalist, who worked for the Canadian National Post, did two years of research on AWG ,the result was her book, “The Delinquent Teenager Who Was Mistaken for the World's Top Climate Expert”, http://amzn.to/XWvm6o, in which she totally eviscerated the notion that the IPCC is somehow a top scientific organization. In reality, it's just a political organization formed to find evidence of man-made global warming, rather than being formed as an investigative body charged with determining whether or not warming was occurring, and if so, from what source. Also, other books you should read: Lawrence Solomon's “The Deniers: The World Renowned Scientists Who Stood Up Against Global Warming Hysteria, Political Persecution, and Fraud**And those who are too fearful to do so”, http://amzn.to/12MiPoX, an excellent assembly of editors whose work is edited by Patrick J Michaels, Climate Coup, http://amzn.to/XCfpSZ , Roy Spencer, a former NASA senior climatologist and now a climatologist, Principal Research Scientist at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and the U.S. Science Team leader for the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer on NASA's Aqua satellite. , “The Great Global Warming Blunder: How Mother Nature Fooled the World's Top Climate Scientists”, http://amzn.to/WvHtJT , and of course the initial reason for my skepticism after all these years of being a closeted environmentalist, “The Skeptical Environmentalist: Measuring the Real State of the World”, Bjorn Lomborg, http://amzn.to/WNe4fM . Other than these books, you might try watching Prof. Bob Carter, James Cook University, Australia, “Climate Change - Is CO2 the cause? - Pt 1 of 4”, http://bit.ly/UbSqvB, and you can follow the other parts by searching for parts 2, 3, 4 in order. And these other documents supporting this position include “GLOBAL WARMING-The Origin and Nature of the Alleged Scientific Consensus”-Richard S Lindzen, http://bit.ly/14X9tcZ, “NOAA Conducts Large-Scale Experiment And Proves Global Warming Skeptics Correct”, http://bit.ly/12qlB7K, “Is the Earth Still Recovering From the 'Little Ice Age'-A Possible Cause of Global Warming”, Syun-ichi Akasofu, IARC Founding Director and Professor of Physics, Emeritus, was the director of the International Arctic Research Center of the University of Alaska Fairbanks from its establishment in 1998 until January of 2007, http://bit.ly/12RUB0U , “Copernicus Meets the Greenhouse Effect”, Joe Postma, http://bit.ly/V . Frankly, I could go on and on giving you reverences and videos to watch which rebut the IPCC dogma, but I won't spending any more time on this endeavor.

Basically what I'm says, I've not been convinced by the IPCC. I'm agnostic towards AWG.

Yeah, good observation (as the sarcasm drips) . But Ken, whats your opinion of the left using Obama? Are you saying he is actually their messiah as advertised? The creepy side latched onto a minority for the same reason you suggest about Carson and the right. You Ken, are as guilty of one sided thinking/vision as those you throw your finger at.

Nonetheless, his message remains one full of truth and clarity. His message is not one that a "left" leaning news outlet would give airtime without attempting to denigrate the message and the messenger, so he took the message where it would be received and heard. The fact that Fox News and its shows have been and remain number one shows speaks to a logical conclusion - that a majority of the American citizenry watch Fox programming. Dr. Carson is smarter than you realize, Ken. Try not to be so filled with self-destructive cynicism.

But Dr. Carson is right about this country crumbling from within by the pc and special interests like the trial lawyers assoc. (to cite one example).

I like this guy a lot but I can't help but see the irony in his Prayer Breakfast speech about not muzzling our speech..and not being politically correct..and his refusal here to state who he voted for. That seems contradictory to me and I question why he would hesitate to be bold and open about that.

Interesting. The exact same post with 2 different screen names with the note 'This message was anonymized by its previous owner', under 'Guest'.

What's up Tamara? Not interesting in owning up to your 'one' post on this site? ;-)

It seemed fairly apparent to me by the message of his speech, who he 'didn't' vote for. ;-) ;-)

Maybe because he wants to unite our country, not divide it? America has become so partisan that as soon as he confirms his vote, half of the country will hate him and not listen to a word he says because they hate the party he voted for. Seems like he is an Independent for that same reason.

cabensg

He's against everything Obama's doing and has done. He said (I paraphrase) " I tend to align myself with parties that do good for the country. So he gives a speech at the prayer breakfast calling out Obama on just about everything and you still wonder who he voted for.

Dr. Carson has a lot of the right answers but his special interest in education is very telling. He knows that's one of the most necessary first steps to turning things around. Of course insisting there be a conversation is also vital. We can be very thankful he's stepping forward to speak out and that it makes total sense in every way. So many times those who do step forward to speak are still caught up in government being the answer. Let's hope he inspires many more who are now in the private sector to come forward speak out and run for office so we have people like him to represent us.

It would be a great thing to have such a skilled Doctor, one with Dr. Carson's well of never ending love, as Speaker of the House.

But, alas, as Republicans ... we get John Boehner.....

I realize he is a pediatric surgeon. But wouldn’t he be amazing to have as your Doctor? Until he decides to move on to larger things?

In my 50+ years there have only been a few medical professionals that I have really connected with.

Our son was born very premature, and so we hadn’t even determined who would be his pediatrician. We were assigned one in the NICU. We lucked out. He was the best ever, and even after leaving the area years later, we stayed in touch- and he took out an “ad” in our sons HS yearbook to congratulate him.

He was a Japanese American and was humble…He was interned at Angel Island near San Francisco. During WWII. He practiced medicine with such a kind heart, and he was so knowledgeable. The kind of Doctor that calls you to see how you are feeling.

I loved it when he said that the media could "dig for dirt," but they won't find any. Lovely man. This interview kept me captivated throughout. Dr.Carson has excellent ideas that would work. Carson makes Obama look the little petulant-peon-pipsqueak that he is. It is said that Obama is an intellectual. Dr. Carson puts that fallacy completely to rest.

Dr. Carson is the opposite of Obama. Obama uses our country's unique diversity to divide us and therefore control us. Obama is "Divider in Chief" and "Blamer in Chief", and a person who infuses complexity and regulation as a means of control and pursuit of crony capitalism. Dr. Carson does not have that agenda. He wants to solve problems by maximizing the potential of the individual.

Since Obama care started being an agenda of this administration, I have been watching the decline of the well being of my physician colleagues and myself as we struggle to continue to provide our patients with the same quality of care we take pride in. Do people understand the Starling curve where efficiency peaks, plateaus then declines? Do people not believe that medicine is an art and not a machine? Doctors are not computers, we are human beings caring for human beings. I am not surprised there is a nationwide shortage of primary care physicians. I became a physician because I wanted to take care of people. It took a lot of time, effort, sacrifice and resources. Why would anyone with a good mind go into medicine these days when every autonomy is being taken from him/her?
