Sure sounds to me like he’s counting on a brokered convention at this point. He speaks in terms of going in to the convention with delegates, rather than getting to 50% +1.
Could it be that Santorum and Newt have concluded that they both need to stay in the race in order to prevent Romney from getting a majority? Perhaps they are working together.
- JimmyBleep
Not a bad plan. If both stay in as viable candidates there is no way Romney can win the nomination. Then the two of them can hold the 1,144 needed with their combined delegates to zip in as the nom with vp nom. They wouldn’t even be able to hold meetings over who should get the nod if two contenders agree to pool their delegates.
- celestiallady
I wondered that myself – it makes sense.
- politicalnewbie
I bet nothing is off the table and that is the whole battle in a nutshell: replace Obama, but with a conservative, not with Romney.
- Trust1TG
Will Tea Party conservatives have enough delegates to overcome the false conservatives (Romney and the establishment RINO/CINOs?
- RobertGman
I’m sorry, guys, but this schmuck sickens me. He is sooo two-faced. However he does it so slickly that he makes it look natural. (Just like Obama).
Romney DOES have a positive message and the most DETAILED plan to turn our country around. In fact, Gingrich has taken many of his talking points from Romney’s 59 point plan. Yet the demagoguery from the right and left has been so bad it leaves Mitt with not much choice but to go negative.
- Right_Wingnut
You’re joking, right?
What exactly has Newt lifted from Romney’s 59 point plan? I don’t even hear Mitt talk about his plan. He’s too busy telling voters why they shouldn’t vote for the other guy to sell his plan.
I’m no Newt guy, but to suggest that he needs to look to Romney for ideas is just laughable.
- Rshill7
I propose a one point plan for Romney and have enumerated it below:
1. Git.
- Major914
If Newt is two-faced, Romney is four-faced–and not one of the four is genuinely conservative…
- 3seven77
Oh, the horror! Can you imagine Willard with four faces? It would be a WillardMonster! Imagine all four faces debating each other. The bathering would get really intense. Then just for fun, we could send Rick Perry in to poke the WillardMonster with a question about who mows its lawn… all four heads would explode!!
- http://twitter.com/2Eskies2Many Kari George
There’s a pretty funny cartoon of Mittens on FR where he’s got this looong head & a bunch of mouths going in every direction, talking at once. It’s kinda creepy but it’s funny. And true.
- M_J_S
Only 4 heads?!
- celestiallady
The schmuck is Romney – he may have a positive message but he doesn’t mean a bit of it.
- Nukeman60
That darn ‘ole Newt monster! He was soooo nasty in Iowa, that he forced Romney to be the first one to initiate smear ads. I hate it when they do that. Then Newt monster was sooo mean to win SC that it forced poor Mitt to spend overtime in Florida to get his massive smear campaign out (was it 65 to 1?). I hate Newt monster for doing that, too. Now Newt monster has stolen poor Mitt’s 1000 point plan to leverage buyout the US economy. Poor Mitt and all his Mittforbrains talking heads.

Haaaaaaaaa! haaaaaaaa! haaa!—weeeeze~ ha ha
“mittforbrains”…… excellent word!no…..excellent post!

Robertgman, your comment is downright comical.
LIBERALISM
Romney and his people (like all Alinsky liberals) accuse other candidates of what they do. Romney has his people lobby for Freddy/Fannie so he could make big profits…so he accuses Newt of lobbying.
http://dailycaller.com/2012/01/25/top-romney-advisers-lobbied-for-freddie/
Romney’s people made sure he got the same perks and profits as anyone inside the beltway and more than some.Social and religious issues:
Here’s what Mitt Romney supported as Governor of Massachusetts:
1. Pro-abortion with taxpayer funding (added it to RomneyCare, refused to line-item veto it).
2. Pro-gay marriage with full state sponsorship (was first Governor to install it, had earlier broke the law in his quest to issue gay marriage licenses, then called opponents of his actions “right-wing”).
3. Pro-gay adoption – he signed into law gay adoptions in Massachusetts with NO RELIGIOUS EXEMPTION.
4. Pro-transgender education to children in public schools (promoted by Governor Romney’s administration).Romney governed left of Ted Kennedy and most Democrats, so he accuses Gingrich and Santorum of being liberal Democrats. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/02/08/romney-rivals-are-republicans-who-acted-like-democrats/
CORRUPTION
Romney’s ethics charges: http://www.theatlanticright.com/2012/01/30/romneys-own-ethics-charges/
Fraud – http://www.forbes.com/sites/rickungar/2012/01/21/romney-supervised-medical-testing-company-guilty-of-massive-medicare-fraud/Romney got Taxpayer Money bail-outs for both Bain Capital and the Salt Lake City Olympics, to keep them afloat, and to maximize profits for himself and his friends in Utah (aka the Mormons).
“Romney has a history of surviving poor decision-making by gulping down federal largesse. He’s built up an impressive mythology about someone who makes things work.”
http://bluemassgroup.com/2012/01/bailout-mitt-salt-lake-city-edition/“Most U.S. tax dollars per athlete. Federal spending for the Salt Lake City Games will average $625,000 for each of the 2,400 athletes who will compete. (Not a penny of it will go to the athletes.) That’s a 996% increase from the $57,000 average for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. It’s a staggering 5,582% jump from the $11,000 average for the 1984 Summer Games in Los Angeles.”
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1024516/index.htm“And for the upcoming 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, the estimated cost to American taxpayers is 1.3 billion dollars. That’s outrageous Mr. President. And it’s a disgrace,” McCain said. (2001)

Bain Capital was also beneficiary of US taxpayer dollar BAILOUT – http://thenewamerican.com/usnews/politics/10538-romneys-skeletons-his-bain-capital-received-millions-in-bailoutsHere’s a business man on how Bain operates: “Mitt Romney the “buyout baron” is a liar, a con man and a scam artist. He is the founding father of the “private equity” Wall Street scam. They take over a company and inflate its short-term profits by laying off workers, cutting pensions and selling assets. They then take out huge loans in the acquired firm’s name and immediately transfer the money as “dividends” and “fees” to Bain capital. If the now deeply debt-ridden acquired firm goes bankrupt, Bain gets to keep all that money as it is untouchable in bankruptcy proceedings. Bain socializes their losses to banks, pension insurers, etc. and privatizes their gains in the same kind of Wall Street con job that led to the mortgage crisis. Bain donates to Democrats and keeps the laws in place to allow this to go on. Nominate Romney and you will see all of this exposed by the liberal media in the fall. He is a classic Wall Street crook and will become unelectable. If he did win, you can only expect the collusion between big government and Wall Street to become deeper and more endemic, driving the nation further into bankruptcy.
Romney’s FTD deal (1994-95) was essentially a hostile buyout forced on the 20,000 members in writing as a “MERGER” but was actually and legally a SECRETLY held Public Auction that ripped off its members, and was a very questionable legal transaction that was not tested in the courts but was DEFINITELY, morally and ethically, of the lowest caliber. Mitt’s knowledge, participation, and or influence, needs an explanation, with NO platitudes or non sequiturs. The first dots to connect are Meg Whitman and Perry Capital NY. The dots will lead to the money, hundreds of millions.
LIES
Pathological lies: http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2012/02/04/pathological-liar/Seven lies in last CNN/FL debate:
1. He denied accusing Newt of exaggerating/lying about his part in Reagan’s administration only three days before on Monday night in Tampa.
2. He lied about his own ‘ghetto language’ ad that bore his voice
3. He claimed all his business was run by a blind trust, a tactic that Mitt himself called ‘the oldest ruse in the book’ in a previous campaign.
4. He said he voted for republicans in the past when there was a republican to vote for, but if you look back at the Gingrich ad exposing his lies, it turns out when George H.w. Bush and Buchanan were running, he voted for a liberal democrat.
5. He denied the cost of Romneycare to taxpayers in Massachusetts. “Half of those people got insurance on their own. Others got help in buying the insurance.”
False. In fact, 98% of the additional people insured after Romneycare was passed have it paid for or subsidized by the federal government or Massachusetts government. Of the 412,000 additional people who had health insurance in 2010 who did not have it in June 2006 (pre-reform), only 7K of the 412K (1.7%) had unsubsidized health insurance. The rest were covered through Medicaid, Commonwealth Care, or a program of subsidized care for the unemployed.
6. He denied the impact of Romney care on citizens of Massachusetts. Romneycare has increased the price of healthcare premiums for every citizen of Massachusetts. Premiums have increased by 55 percent since Mitt Romney became Governor, a rate 13 points higher than the national average and the third highest growth rate among the states.
7. He said he lowered taxes in Massachusetts 19 times. Yet he raised fees and corporate taxes twice. No wonder Massachusetts was rated at the bottom of all the states (47-49th) in job and business growth.A person can lie so much that they actually believe their own lies. This is pathological and is a symptom of a departure from reality, facts and evidence that is characteristic of liberalism.
FLIP/FLOPS
Then there are the Famous Flip/Flops with hilarious videos of Romney campaigning to different groups, reversing his words to suit the audience. In one group it was ‘clean coal’ and the other group he said ‘dirty coal’.
http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/politics/6468-multiple-mitts-romney-on-the-issuesCONCLUSION
Romney has shown he has no principles or convictions that he will not abandon for a vote or a dollar. Now, after a record of ultra-liberalism, just because he has a photo-pretty, sincere-looking face, family, lifestyle, and has (ruthlessly) accrued lots and lots of money, paid supporters, political power (and run a ruthless, deceptive campaign based on LIES and character assassination).
Perhaps his problem with the truth is because Mormonism is one man’s invention, a confabulation of Masonry, Islam and Christianity and a perversion of the Truth, of Christianity of the Gospel of Christ and Mr. Romney is above a bishop in that religion. (links below)
There are common threads between Mormonism and Mohammedism.
Mormonism, like Mohammedanism, is the product of one man’s spiritual revelation given by an angel, producing a different religion that claims superiority to all other religions.
Mohammedism is also the salvation message of Judaism and Christianity perverted and demoted by one man who rejected the Torah and the Gospel, denied the divinity and authority of Christ, and made Christ a prophet of lower rank than himself. Mohammedism also claims to be superior to all other religions. (link below)Perhaps that is why Romney is as close as he is to Obama in both method and message.

(Applause) Wow! Thank you, trust1tg!! You not only gathered the facts, you laid them out very distinctly, and there is NO argument here! The media and Romney supporters who have been covering for him and distorting the facts about Bain, trying to make Newt look like he is “anti-capitalism” are the liars.
There IS a big difference between venture capitalism and what Romney made his millions doing. There is capitalism that enriches a person, and truly blesses others and the country at large, and unfortunately, there are the bad apples, like Romney and Co. It’s just so much tripe that Romney cares about families, blah, blah. He looks out for number one, and that’s it.

Here we go.
WAKE UP. Mormons are indeed a cult and ARE NOT Christian. No matter how many TV ads you run, it’s not happening.
Any “religion” that believe Christ was a space astronaut and the brother of Lucifer and that the Holy Land is in America and that Magic Plates revealed some profound message is full of s*&^t. Plain and simple.
Polygamy? Come on? Not allowing blacks in the “church” until the 60s or 70s? Right.

Read “Doctrine and Covenants” and “The Pearl of Great Price”.
“Doctrine and Covenants” is tedious and boring, and contains divine revelations supposedly given to Joseph Smith and some of his successors. Most of these deal with administrative issues concerning the organization of various priesthoods. However, there is also a revelation allowing polygamy. Ironically, the Book of Mormon explicitly prohibits polygamy, but when Smith got other ideas about it, he simply overruled the supposed sacred writ by a new revelation! (Later, the LDS Church stopped practicing polygamy, after decades of persecution by the US authorities.)
But the most sensational of the standard works is surely “The Pearl of Great Price”. It contains two main items, known as the Book of Moses and the Book of Abraham. Of these, the Book of Abraham is the most controversial. For starters, it’s polytheist! The scripture claims that the world was created by the gods (in plural). It also claims that the otherwise unknown planet Kolob is the centre of the universe, and that the gods who created Earth reside and assemble on this planet. This strange blend of paganism and science fiction is enough to drive main-line Christians quite mad, while atheists presumably use it to ridicule the Mormon true believers. (And yes, there is an actual science fiction series based on these notions.)
Joseph Smith claimed that the Book of Abraham was an actual Egyptian document. Apparently, Smith *did* have a genuine papyrus document at his disposal, probably bought from a traveling party. Unfortunately, this time he made the mistake of publishing the document. At the time, nobody could read Egyptian hieroglyphs. Today, we know that the document is simply a part of the Egyptian Book of the Dead! It doesn’t mention Abraham, Kolob or the Mormon gods.
The Book of Moses, curiously, say that God (in the singular) created heavens and the earth. However, it also claims that God created an infinity of inhabited planets, a notion unacceptable to Protestant fundamentalists. Otherwise, the Book of Moses contains innovative stories about Adam, Cain and Enoch. The text is also included in “The Inspired Version of the Bible”, a new Bible “translation” written by Joseph Smith, where he simply revised those portions he saw fit, claiming divine inspiration. While “The Inspired Version” has never been officially canonized by the LDS Church, some other portions of it are also included in the Pearl of Great Price.”

Now, folks, the Mormon will come back with all kinds of BS and try to explain away every issue, much like a RuPaul supporter. There is nothing Christian about Mormons, deal with it.

I posted an Adele video the other day in which the lyrics were changed to “someone like Newt”, where the whole song was completely politicized, trashing Newt Gingrich. Well, it turns out the whole thing was dubbed! And a very convincing dub. Someone made a parody out of her hit, “Someone Like You”, so I am putting up a link from The Atlantic that explains what happened. I am a huge fan of Adele, have been since she first came on the scene, so this was a relief!

“No government can come between man and God.”
This applies to the government violating conscience, faith of traditional Jewish and Christian practice.
There are reasonable limits to religious freedom. Freedom does not include the freedom to practice certain behaviors that characterize pagan religions and cult groups that violate the US Constitution, law and human rights that cannot our civil government cannot and will not accomodate:
Human sacrifice
Animal sacrifice, animal maiming, torture
Human torture and ritual abuse
Sexual abuse, exploitation
Forced marriage, pregnancy or abortion
‘Honor’ killings
Genital mutilation of females
Pedophilia
Involuntary imprisonment
Coercion, forced participation and forced conversion

Brain-washing, indoctrination, conditioned responses
Financial abuse and exploitation

This list looks like a 59 point plan. Where have I heard of that before?

- http://www.facebook.com/david.masiwchuk David Scott Masiwchuk
Seems to be a concerted effort to get rid of Newt.
- Nukeman60
So the state GOPs have been moving up primaries that are favorable to Romney, and now they have decided to move back (by almost 2 months) a primary that might hurt Romney.
The win in Iowa for Santorum was given to Romney until it didn’t matter anymore. The Florida delegates, by GOP rules, should be proportioned out rather than winner take all and that won’t be corrected until it’s too late.
Hmmmm. One just wonders (not really!) what the GOP establishment really wants here. Why don’t we just coronate Romney and save all that money. Then we could just coronate Obama after that and save a whole lot more money and time.
- JimmyBleep
LOL who moved up what state primaries for Mitt? Iowa? South Carolina? Florida? Nevada? Michigan? Hogwash. All those states went early in 2008 too. Texas has a legitimate legal battle over redistricting that has nothing to do with the primary. Even so, in 2008 there were only 10 states who voted after Texas. Going late is nothing new there. I think the conspiracy theories about Mitt are getting out of hand.
- Nukeman60
‘I think the conspiracy theories about Mitt are getting out of hand‘ – jb
So is denial.
States moved up their primaries and it was beneficial to Romney. Now Texas is moving theirs back by almost two months and that also will be beneficial to Romney. You disagree with these statements?
If you want to talk about conspiracy theories, talk about the Iowa and Maine results, one which was determined to go against Romney and the other which will be determined in early March to have gone against him. He has benefitted from supposed wins in both of them. Think what you want, but consider facts as well.
- JimmyBleep
If there was a true movement to force Romney in, don’t you think the southern states would go last and the northeast and westcoast states would go first? If this was different than 2008 then you might have a basis here but it’s not. Just because something benefits Romney, doesn’t mean it was orchestrated.
IA and ME are legitimate problems. Announcing the wrong winner and hearing that votes were being manipulated to limit Paul to third and boost Romney to first are significant accusations. In fact, I’m surprised they even fixed it after the announcement.
The fact that ME delegates won’t be decided for another month, yet they announce a winner and had a lot of last minute funny-business going on smells bad too.
I’m not in denial about this stuff, but when you push it too far, it marginalizes your argument. The primary schedule is not made for Romney in the same way that the debates were not created for Newt. It just so happens that Newt peaks at debating. Romney supporters could suggest that there have never been this many debates in the past and it is just to push Newt. Just because it benefits Newt doesn’t mean there is a conspiracy behind it.
- Nukeman60
You were the one talking about conspiracy. I was talking about facts. The GOP establisment has an agenda, it’s clear. They try to be clever, but sometimes clever isn’t smart.
Also, the debates were created for the LSM, not Newt or any other GOP candidate. The reason there were so many of them was because the LSM wanted to use the debates against all of them. Newt just happened to rebel against their BS questioning and it backfired on the media.
- JimmyBleep
You were talking about fact or theory? There is no proof that the GOP moved any primaries up for Romney. So that’s why I called it a conspiracy theory. You think the GOP has conspired to move states up on the primary calendar to help Mitt. It’s not a fact.
- Nukeman60
One last time for those that might be slow.
‘So the state GOPs have been moving up primaries that are favorable to Romney, and now they have decided to move back (by almost 2 months) a primary that might hurt Romney‘ – Nuke
That is what I said. I didn’t say they moved them up for Romney. They moved some up and it was favorable to Romney. Now they are moving one back and it will also be favorable to Romney.
I’m sure you will want to talk next about ‘just who are the GOP establishment? Hmmm?
- http://twitter.com/2Eskies2Many Kari George
What do you say now that the Georgis debate has been cancelled, Ol’ Devil?
- http://punditpawn.wordpress.com PunditPawn
Yes, the early voting sucks too, since Romney has been campaigning for name recognition for half a decade.
- politicalnewbie
It does seem odd, doesn’t it?
I don’t know how typical this might be, or whether this has happened in other primaries, states getting moved around like this, and ballot access issues en route because of something unrelated, however convenient for the elite’s preferred candidate.
One doesn’t like to think conspiracy and it could certainly all be coincidence. But it would help a lot to alleviate that conspiracy bug if the coincidence would fall in the favor of one of the elite’s rejects instead of so plainly against him, just once.

I agree, no other candidate running can articulate detailed solutions directly on the spot as Newt does time after time. He is the best choice by far but if Santorum ends up getting the nomination I would vote for him.
- DavidRobertson
Nice interview by Gingrich. I like that when he gets asked a question, he doesn’t mind giving an unequivocal answer. You can never ask a lib pundit or politician a direct question and expect a direct answer. You can ask Gingrich and Santorum. They will be very direct. If you ask Romney, he’s all over the place.
- StandingGround
Seems fishy to me too, Nuke. With the GOP elites pushing Romney on us unrelentingly (is that a word?), it would be harder for me to think this is just another coincidence.

Yep, it’s the three man race strategy. Newt goes for the south, Rick for the mid-west.
Just heard Rick on Mike Gallagher and he didn’t attack Newt but he did attack Romney, even though he was given the opportunity to do so.
Newt’s not campaigning too hard in the mid-west, Santorum’s not campaigning too hard in the South.
I hope Newt and Santorum supporters see what’s going on here and get with the program. We win this by focusing our negatives on Romney, not each other.

Newt talks solutions. He speaks directly, to the point, and hits the heart of the issue in few words. Newt can also speak historically about an issue and teaches while answering. It is a delight to listen to him because he is well-spoken and he provides depth to his answers, instead of just spewing campaign rhetoric and superficial political one-liners.
On the other hand, Romney is superficial, dodgy and sleazy. He gives the answers people want to hear, instead of speaking from a Conservative foundation. Romney does not talk solutions except in the most glib manner. His economic plan has 59 points, on purpose, because it is easy to fudge and lose people in the details.
Newt has a trustworthiness about him.
Romney’s demeanor projects sleaze, insincerity, and a lack of genuineness. Being a saleswoman, I can recognize these unpleasant characteristics a mile away!

I want to throw up when they call this bum president. He’s a drug user and a bum.
Greta,
Our Bill of Rights are not negotiable. Did all of you know John Boehner could stop this now? He needs to be removed, Ohio. You don’t need to keep voting in the same people until they die.GOP Can Stop Obama’s Contraceptive Rule Now With Congressional Review Act, Law’s Author Says

Regarding Newt’s campaigh…I just got notice of Emmet Tyrell Jr’s latest article in my email. I don’t know why I get email from those clowns at spectator .org, but I’m fed up with ol’ Emmet.
It was bad enough when he was one of the barking PDS sufferers on the right, but now he’s joining NRO’s call for Newt to drop out. A simple call to drop out, could have been made, with logic, numbers, and respect. That wouldn’t be horrible. Yes, it would have been nice if he’d put together a decent train of thought, but instead he wrote what looks like something Ed Schultz would have coughed up in his daily morning stumble.
I still don’t know if Rick Santorum can really pull ahead. I still haven’t made up my mind whether I’d rather have steady Rick or Powerhouse Newt. I really haven’t. But one thing I know is that everytime I read some bizarre rant from someone who wishes they were Ace, it makes me want whoever they are slamming to do better, and prove them wrong.
I won’t link to it.
This entire primary process has been infected by a bunch of single-minded, risk-fearing, control freaks. If anyone needs to stand down, it’s them, and today especially, Emmet Tyrell Jr.
- Trust1TG
“steady Rick or Powerhouse Newt”?
How about the Conservative Special combo plate: Gingrich/Santorum, with sides of Palin and other Tea Party favorites?
- K-Bob
Yep!
- GraceKnows
Gingrich/Palin or Gingrich/?
As long as Mr. Gingrich is president.

- http://hashmonean.com saus
Don’t laugh at me people but I think a Gingrich Santorum ticket would not only put America back on the right track, but shmear Obama.
- GraceKnows
Yeah, I found this tripe in my email from American Spectator. So I went to the article trying to slime Gingrich, and left a comment:
“Congratulations on joining the Establishment. But then again, I’m mistaken! You’ve been part of it for a long time now, haven’t you?
It’s more recent that you’ve jumped on the bandwagon with the likes of Bob Dole, John McCain, Tom DeLay, and other failed prospects.
How does it feel to be in the tank?
Newt has run circles around every one of you. I really did not expect you to stoop to ugly name-calling and caricatures, though. How sophomoric!
Newt 2012!!!”
- GraceKnows
Oh, yes, and I unsubscribed. Ha! I only had that email subscription about a month. No loss.
- K-Bob
Speck-tater is a poorly moderated site. I’m sure your comment drew some nasty flames. Good job!
- http://twitter.com/2Eskies2Many Kari George
Boy, they (the commenters) were *really* on a roll last night. I didn’t know whether to sell tickets or flip out. First time I haven’t made through all the comments.
- K-Bob
Figures. I wasn’t around for it. Which threads were hot?
- http://twitter.com/2Eskies2Many Kari George
Pretty sure it was Sex Maniac Nation. It was a ZOO. Where are their moderators?
(But then they’ve had a few folks- Paulies vs Nots, who go off the walls for quite a few threads. I usually only read the Newt ones. I think this linked from HotAir. Heh. Probably under “It’s Come To This” j/k)Which one(s) are Y’All talking about?
- K-Bob
Oh, I thought you meant threads here at TRS! We’re only referring to the comments under Tyrell’s “Newt Must Go” article. What a maroon.
I spent many a long night on the ONT at Ace’s, and I couldn’t believe how the younger folks steamed the place up sometimes. Lotta lonely hearts out there, I guess. Things here are far more topical. I’d hazard a guess most people who comment here are married.
Spectator’s comment section gets awful flame-y though. Hard to read, really.
- http://twitter.com/2Eskies2Many Kari George
Thanks. I’ll go see. (& thanks for the warning)
CPAC wasn’t just woofin with that award. - GraceKnows
Thank you, sir! It’s people like those on TRS that have helped me find my voice again. I was kind of shocked to see this stuff coming from what purports to be a conservative magazine (one that used to have a large readership). I’ll have to go back and see if anybody “flamed” me yet! :0
- nibblesyble
I read it too K-Bob, it was painful to read…I felt sorry for the writer as he has humilated himself. Judging by the comments underneath, he has done himself no favors. In fact it galvanized me into sending money to Newt..so his goal surely failed.
- K-Bob
Good on ya!
- 3seven77
K-Bob, when I read, “But one thing I know is that everytime I read some bizarre rant from someone who wishes they were Ace…” I had to laugh.
What the heck happened to Ace? He used to be a fairly good writer – not the best, but good. Now Ace pens a 5.000 word essay just to say, “I don’t know, what do you think?” His rants got tiresome. I don’t go to AOS much anymore.
AOS got the “Best writer on a blog” award from CPAC. It must have been meant for one of his co-bloggers, not Ace. Just bizzarre.
- K-Bob
Ace has to compete with his own stuff from before. It’s easy for folks to get tired of a style, and in his case, it’s a tough act to follow. He still cranks out the occasional “greatest hit” kind of article, but it’s not making him a ton of money, so he’s working other angles.
I kind of like him asking his horde of morons “what do you guys think?”. He then responds to some folks in the comments, so his articles aren’t the same as a weekly column. They’re more like a work-in-progress.
My biggest problem with the site is that its infested with a bunch of non-conservatives who are clearly trying to push conservatism to the left. Ace doesn’t discourage them, but they are far squishier than he is.
- Trust1TG
After months of this campaign, a pattern is beginning to become very clear:
:::The leftist liberals and establishment elites (media and politicians) give the most ridicule, use the nastiest adjectives and contemptuous names, and post the ugliest photos of the opponent they fear the most.:::
By this principle, they tell us who is the most conservative candidate, who is most likely to change the status quo and who is likely to stop the looting and corruption and restore the political and economic health of our nation.
That would be Newt Gingrich and here’s why:
- NJK
I agree with you. I’d like to see Newt and Rick come together somehow.
- Mtncougar
If you watch the video above, where Newt said that he doesn’t believe in right-wing social engineering any more than he believes in left-wing social engineering (commonly spun by the anti-Newters as disparaging Ryan’s budget) – you’ll see why Newt/Santorum will never work. Santorum vocally supports right-wing social engineering.
- NJK
Newt is my first choice.
- http://twitter.com/2Eskies2Many Kari George
Yes, but Rick (or Perry or Cain) could mature and evolve as vp and be ready to keep going in 2016 or 2020. I really do believe that if Newt is elected AND has enough of a majority in the House and the Senate, that things will turn around to the point that conservatives will hold Washington for a very long time.
- 3seven77
I’d like Perry, West or Cain for Newt’s VP. Santorum? Not so much.
- http://twitter.com/2Eskies2Many Kari George
Well it depends. He does seem kinda stiff necked, but I have an open mind. Honestly, I think he’d be more likely to be Romney’s vp than Newt’s.
- NJK
Romney should drop out. I think both of these parties have done so much wrong, they’re pushing Romney, because he’ll go along and cover it up.
- kamiller42
The biggest feathers in Newt’s cap for me are three things:
1. The Contract with America and House take over in 1990. Major score for GOP & conservatives.
2. His CSPAN speeches where he stood up for and explained conservative principles.
3. Rick Perry’s endorsement. - PFFV
Gingrich had 4 years of balanced budgets too. You probably won’t see that again in your lifetime, unless he becomes President of course.
- Been_There_BT
Anybody just hear Newt’s Superpac’s ad on Rush’s show? It’s really good:) And it’s constructed in a way that it could benefit both Newt & Rick.
- Sober_Thinking
This was a good interview.

- http://twitter.com/2Eskies2Many Kari George
I really like Greta. She may be the closest thing to a journalist we have left.
- nibblesyble
yes I think so too. Plus she is able to bring in viewers from all sides because she is so fair.
- PFFV
I think Bret Baier and Neil Cavuto are excellent also.
- http://twitter.com/2Eskies2Many Kari George
I don’t see much of Neil Cavuto (we don’t watch tv c. 2005/ 06). I’ll keep my eye out & look for his stuff. I didn’t mean to dismiss Bret Baier, though. I like him a LOT! (I imagine there are probably a few others, too. I just can’t think of a time I haven’t respected Ms Van Susteren’s work- ever, since 1997/ 98) I like Sean Hannity, too. He can get pretty enthusiastic (lol like that’s a bad thing. I mean he’s not so stoic), but I like him.
- http://hashmonean.com saus
I still like Gingrich best.
- nibblesyble
Hey all Newtonians! I was just over at Politijim’s site and watched Newt come out against Tarp on a youtube video when he was on Hannity. I always thought he was for it and Rick was against it. A lot of people thought so too, as they have levied this against Newt and edified Rick. Politijim says there is nothing that he can find regarding Rick saying he was against it, till after it was passed. Newt’s position on this needs to be corrected and fast!
- http://www.facebook.com/people/Steven-Valdez/1806887704 Steven Valdez
he was against it, but still said he would vote for it.
- nibblesyble
Could you link that? From what I read at Politijim’s site, I didn’t see that.:)
- http://www.facebook.com/people/Steven-Valdez/1806887704 Steven Valdez
Here’s the clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJb2NfqwghY
- nibblesyble
Thanks, I wish it had not been cut off though…I bet it never would have been a choice in the first place if he was still Speaker!
- http://www.facebook.com/people/Steven-Valdez/1806887704 Steven Valdez
Newt took a hard hit today with a debate by CNN being cancelled in Newt’s home state of Georgia on March 1st. Another March 5th debate by MSNBC has been cancelled as well. So we only have two more debates scheduled Feb. 22 and March 19 http://nationaljournal.com/2012-presidential-campaign/cnn-cancels-march-1-debate-after-candidates-decline-20120216
- GraceKnows
Why was the MSNBC debate called off?
- http://www.facebook.com/people/Steven-Valdez/1806887704 Steven Valdez
I don’t know why it was, I just seen it was cancelled by MSNBC.
- http://twitter.com/2Eskies2Many Kari George
Hopefully, the folks in Georgia will figure something out. (Huge support there in gov) Maybe someone should approach PBS- we’re paying for it. It’s the least they could do.
This stiiiinks. - NJK
Newt Gingrich: Cap & Trade a ‘socialistic effort’ to control the economy
http://conservatives4newt.blogspot.com/2012/02/newt-gingrich-cap-trade-socialistic.html?spref=fb - GraceKnows
CNN cancels March 1 debate in Georgia after Romney, Santorum, and Paul all DROP OUT. Now why would they do that? Legal Insurrection tells us why.
http://legalinsurrection.com/2012/02/mitt-rick-and-ron-to-georgia-drop-dead/
- nibblesyble
I think this may back-fire big time on Mitt and Rick, from the comments I have been reading on Hot Air, Red State and the like…they are all being called out as wusses afraid to debate Newt.
- PFFV
They don’t want to debate Gingrich because they know he will spank them all over the stage.
- http://twitter.com/2Eskies2Many Kari George
I hope it does, and I promise I’m not saying this because Newt’s my first choice. We *need* to hear what they have to say for themselves. How can we make the best choice otherwise? We still have the vp to consider even if we’ve made up our minds for prez.
- PolkSaladAnnie
I think there is an effort being made by all parties involved to elimate Newt if possible because they are afraid of his strength. It looks bad for Romney and Santorum to chicken out of the Georgia debate, afraid he would gain some ground. I believe the change in the Texas primary is because of Newt also. Hang in there, Newt!!!
- Trust1TG
Two debates have been cancelled – GA/CNN 3/1/12 and CA/MSNBC 3/5/12).
So far, the Arizona CNN debate 2/22/12 at 8pm is still on.
- PFFV
I don’t understand why Fox Cable News wouldn’t pick up the debates if CNN, MSNBC, or whoever else dropped them. Newt needs debates to win and this is the only reason Mittens and Santy are refusing to participate.
- http://twitter.com/2Eskies2Many Kari George
Emails? Phone calls? It would be great PR for them.
- 3seven77
Great interview! Gotta run cause I have work to do, but need to say this:
GO NEWT GO!!
- wodiej
another good interview-always gives solutions. Romney is getting ready to spank Santorum in Michigan and Gingrich knows it so he’s being smart to get over to pick up some delegates. We’ll see how Santorum likes being vetted.
- bobemakk
Gingrich has always been my first choice and Santorum my second choice….and it isn’t over until the fat lady sings. They both still have chances of winning the nomination.
- Speaking Heart
With all due respect, Greta’s joke at the end did a disservice to the issue.
“Just call the hospital a church, and that would be the end of it.”
Wrong.Any owner of an insurance company that believes in God and the sanctity of human life is being required to submit to the government mandate. To violate their conscience.
You can’t just call the insurance company a church.
