I watched this live last night and to be honest I just can’t get all worked up about it. First of all, we know Obama isn’t a great leader and he’s always interested in CYA tactics so he can push the blame elsewhere if something goes wrong. He isn’t known as the blamer-in-chief for nothing. But at the same time, I don’t really blame him for wanting more than circumstantial proof that this was indeed where Bin Laden lived. After all, our troops were putting their lives on the line in a country we consider an ally, without that country’s permission.
Second of all Obama did act and we did end up getting Bin Laden, which means it was handled in a responsible way from Summer 2010 to May 2011. It was kept quiet, surveillance was done, and then bam, he’s dead.
So yes, could he have acted quicker? Probably, but he did act and it was successful and I think Republicans going down this road to criticize Obama is probably a bad idea.
