This aired last night on National Geographic and it was excellent. It’s all George W. Bush and only his words as he describes what it was like to deal with the events of 9/11.

Watch this before it gets deleted from YouTube. Seriously.

It is tough to watch, but definitely a must watch. Say what you will about how things panned out after this terrible tragedy but had he not portrayed that calm and confidence it would have been so much more worse for our country. It would have caused a widespread panic. And for all the detractors to this day that still think 9/11 was not an act of war, they attacked the military headquarters for our nation. That is a declaration of war if there ever was one.

When I look at the sincerety and empathy in W’s eyes it makes me long for a president that actually, truly, honestly cares about this Country.

So much going through my head as I watched this. Thank you so much Scoop for posting it all here. Y’know, GW may not have been perfect, but there is no one I could ever want to have been president during that time of our nation’s history. As I see the images still, I hate it that all I can see along side is obama. Obama bowing to Saudi King, obama putting down Christians, yet somehow always finding ways to work a koran verse or two into one of many, many appeasment speeches. America came together for that day, and it lasted just a little while. The terrorists did not win then, but I have to think they have been given many opportunities by the media (NT slimes in particular) our own government, those who compared our soldiers to the terrorists, and called terrorists “freedom fighters”. Those such as Murtha and Kerry- traitors to the uniforms they once wore.
All I can think of is the images of the “palestinians” cheering, and handing out candy- and how dear leader is pushing Israel to give in even more.
The total submission so many have shown to islam since that day, bowing, scraping, appeasing. It makes me sick. Our soldiers still over there, and still not being able to do what they do best because lawyers working for the enemy thwart them.
The TSA, the leftists fearing CAIR and bowing to political correctedness when we all know that the terrorists are muslims. Oh, perhaps not all muslims are middle eastern, yet, grannies and children being felt up and allowing covered women to go through because it is offensive!!!!
The fact that islam is building a mosque – a sign of conquering the infidel, yet the church which was damaged on that day is not allowed to be rebuilt. THAT IS OFFENSIVE!
Oh, I am sorry. I can go on and on, I know. I just hate to see what has become something so repugnant when so much good could have come out of something so evil. I don’t know if the situation has changed, but if it is still to be the memorial on the Lord’s day, Sunday, September 11, 2011, yet the Lord is not invited, the first responders who lost so many of their brothers while trying to save people are not invited, and they are not going to read the names of those who lost their lives- why bother having a memorial at all. I will find my own way to honor those who have seem to be forgotten too soon by so many.

Americanbornincanada – I love your posts because you mirror my feelings on most all issues, thank you. You are not alone my friend; we were a sleeping giant that has since awoken. Obama and his fundamental transformation of the USA into the Government Cheese line has shaken the very core of every day working Americans. We the People are very awake now and we are the majority. We are common sense conservative patriots, also known as The Tea Party. God Bless you and all true conservatives, we will not fail!

Oh, did you see that trucking companies cannot fire drivers if they have ever been treated for alcohol abuse? I can’t wait to talk to my VA adviser. If alcohol abuse is an illness, then I have a shoo-in. I am Irish. What do ya think? Can I get another 20 – 30% disability for abusing alcohol? Oh, and I have other good news. Since I was not a first responder and am not a member of the clergy, I may get to attend the festivities and party at ground zero on September 11th, the tenth anniversary. I think I may tell them I am trending muslim to help them make the decision about my V.I.P. invite. Is this a great country, or what? GB

Americanbornincanada, Thank you for saying it so well… We, as a nation, need to find that resolve we had in the weeks following 911. We are sitting back and grumbling to ourselves and our inner-circles about Obama and his apology tour. WE need to call people out on their stuff whenever we hear “religion of peace” or any of the other PC garbage out there.
WE must never, never forget. Watching President Bush recount his 911 experience re-awoken my horror of that day. I wish there were a way to shake the crap out of those who make the decisions of how OUR 911 memorial will go. How DARE they not read the names… How DARE they not allow Prayer. My blood is boiling.

Scoop, thank you so much. I hung on every word. 9/11 may be a fading memory for some, but, it was life altering for me. I moaned a lot about Bush’s capitulation with the Dems, and his spending, but, this reminded me just how much he loved this Country. I wish I were working, as I’d hit your tip jar hard. I’m hopeful my outlook will improve as it becomes obvious the Marxist will be packing soon. And I don’t mean packing heat, I mean packing Samsonite.

I agree with most, many can say what they will of President George Bush, during that time, I am thankful he was in office.

“Pure CLASS!!!”. You’ve got that right, PVG! The man showed class thru out his presidency, never stooping to the level of the leftists who attacked him relentlessly. And he still shows class, something BO, Clinton, etc. will never understand, much less exhibt.

The fact that the left vilified this man for political gain makes me sick.

10 years later and this still makes me cry and the left wants us to forget all about it. It doesn’t play to their pathetic narrative that the US is responsible for all ills in the world. if that doesn’t make your blood boil nothing will.

George W. Bush showed more class in this interview than the entire Obama administration put together.

Sadly, on this important anniversary, we have the Dictator-in Chief at the helm and judging by what I read, he and his henchmen will be turning what should be a day of reflection, of remembrance, of healing into a spectacle of “service and remembrance, reduced to “talking points.

The current occupant in the White House complains the Japan earthquake, the failing economy, the tea party, the S&P are plagues that struck his presidency and ruined it. He whines that he hasn’t had a chance.

Mr. President. I suggest you watch what a real disaster is, once again. I suggest you view a true devestation to the country you purport to serve. I plead you man up and understand that it’s a time of crisis that requires leadership, it’s not the other way around as you suppose – that leadership that requires crisis to survive.

Your presidency has been marked your manipulation of America requiring all manner of created crisis to function and nudge the American people into your way of thinking just as Rahm Emmanuel promised he would do. Just this weekend you became Hurricane manager in chief…further embarrassing our nation.

That sir is not leadership. That sir is not the mark of a leader. That is the mark of a coward who actively seeks all manner of crisis as an excuse to fundamentally change America into your image. To control all things. To be a jack of all trades. To belittle the office of president, the leader of the free world. It is sad.

I didn’t agree with a lot of what President Bush did in the latter years, but one thing I never doubted was that he was a true leader. He did the best he could in the face of a blow America has not seen since the 40′s. He led America through the crisis. He determined she would not fold. The left rewarded him with relentless attacks that created another crisis, against his very person. He still stood strong. He still did not blame.

He continued to lead our country to the best of his ability.

You, sir, should be calling Mayor Bloomberg and asking him to rescind his banning of clergy at the 9/11 site. You should insist that inclusion by its very nature means all manner of people can speak and can lead the attendees. You should decide that you will calm down the rhetoric, begin to allow America to heal and stop trying to manage and control everything.

You sir, should rise up to the position we gave you instead of informing us that the job we entrusted you with is above your pay grade.

I see this video and it is 9/11 again. I am reminded of what it is to have a president who leads. I pray the rest of America hears that now.

I sure do miss President Bush. Say what you want, the man had class, decency and was a great leader. When you compare Barry with W, there’s no competition. I know President Bush made some mistakes, but I ALWAYS felt he was being straight with the American people…honest. I also think he gave dignity to the office of the president. He respected it greatly. That sure has gone to hell in the last 3 years. I also loved the first lady. She also had class and was sweet and pretty. I love President Bush. He kept us safe all those years following 9/11. And it was his work that got Osama killed….Obama just got the glory. And of coarse, W let him have it. Pure Class.
