I take back every nice thing I’ve ever said about Geraldo Rivera. I was clearly misguided in what little fair praise I sent his way.
On his radio show he was analyzing Newt’s Monday night confrontation with Juan Williams, and Geraldo actually says:
When you listen to the way Newt Gingrich says Juan William’s first name, he says it like it’s a racial epithet, I swear to g-d, that’s my impression.
After playing the audio for his audience, he says:
There is Gingrich being filled with disdain, utter disdain for the only man of color maybe in that whole room. That room was very, very, uh, reminiscent of another era in American politics.
He then finishes the segment by playing a clip of Jimmy Carter saying that Newt has a ‘subtlety of racism’.
