A caller fears that Glenn Beck is advocating a third party. Here’s the exchange:
Beck says that he is about the truth, no matter which party it comes from. In principal I agree with that, but it’s like an addiction – you can’t just walk away from big government in one step. It’s going to take time, along with fostering a culture of freedom and small government. We must take back the republican party, and Beck feels the only way to do this is to become willing to lose at the polls, casting your vote in principal forgetting about the parties. The problem with that is that we are so close to losing our country to extreme leftists who are fomenting that culture, that we can’t afford to vote for a third party right now, even if they proclaim the closest thing we can get to the truth. We MUST vote for the lesser of two evils right now, even if it means the smaller version of big government. Third parties will plunge us off the cliff.
Ugh this entire exchange frustrates me! Glenn, I love you, but you are so missing the point. WE DO NOT HAVE TIME TO LOSE AT THE POLLS. I wish that he would see that it will be far easier to take back the GOP than it would ever be to get a third party (independent, whatever) elected to the highest office in the land. The reason why his argument will fail is because if only one side is doing it, the other side is guaranteed to win. The Democrats are far more loyal to their party than Republicans are to theirs. If we are the only ones willing to break party ranks and vote our values, then the Democrats will win every election until we literally are in a dictatorship – moreso than we already are today. How a man as bright as Glenn does not see this baffles me. Worse, it saddens and scares me.
Basically Glenn's argument breaks down to the fact that we shouldn't vote at all because, sorry Glenn, no politician will ever live up to your standards, and that's just a fact.

[...] agree with Rush all the way on this one, and this has been my argument the entire time. The Republicans are different – very different – from the democrats [...]
