One thing that was overlooked in this interview. El Al does use profiling (which I have zero problems with) as they are completely unconcerned with being “politically correct”. When it comes to taking the security of your passengers seriously, worrying about hurting someone’s feelings necessarily takes on a very low priority. However if you have never had dealings with El Al, I would be willing to bet you would be seriously impressed with their politeness and professionalism.

Walking through a scanner doesn’t take 3 hours. Being questioned for 3 hours (as Beck was) does take 3 hours. How many passengers get questioned for 3 hours? Probably not many, but Beck was talking about his questioning as if it was no problem.

He probably wasn’t in a giant rush either because someone else was probably paying for his flight and could reschedule at their expense too.
He and the guy both said that he wasn’t able to answer their questions. My only concern would be…what kinds of questions would they ask and how scrutinizing would they be about that line of questioning.
Personally, Gary Johnson had the best idea I’ve heard yet. Privatize airline security to the choice of the airlines. If people want to go through rigorous security to feel safer, then they can pay that extra money for the illusion of safety. For people like me who do not fear terrorist attacks, we will choose the cheaper airline with minimal security precautions and take our chances. Problem solved…by the free market. I love it.

For some reason, I can’t seem to agree with the premise that we should all just pick airlines or pick pharma companies based on which ones don’t kill people. “Damn, I knew I shouldn’t have picked Discount Air. Oh well, I guess I will learn from this terrorist attack and pay more next time.”
Actually, this is a bigger issue: Airplane safety is a public issue, not just a private issue. If you die flying Discount Air, it doesn’t just affect you, but it affects all those people in the Twin Towers, too. Sure, you chose to take a risk, but if the airplane is used as a missile, the people who get hit didn’t chose to take that risk.

I swear this guy was on Countdown later this very night.

Israel main concern is security of their Nation and aircraft. The USA concern is pleasing all the special interest groups and being Politically Correct to the point that it puts National Security at risk. Being Politically Correct is also the way the US is fighting in wars now, putting our troops in danger. The TSA if it continues on the present course, it will destroy the airline industry.

Can’t do profiling, it will hurt someone feelings, and can’t use common sense because that doesn’t cost billions. The Israeli’s ROCK!
You’ve probably seen this guy before, and the reason we keep seeing him is because the government can’t do anything right. Isaac Yeffet worked as the Security Chief for El Al Airlines in Israel and claims they know how to stop terrorists and they can do it and stay out of your anal cavities. In fact the technology they use to prevent terrorists from boarding and blowing up airlines is so advanced that they can just walk up to you and determine if you are a terrorist. What pray tell is this technology?
Talking. Doing mini-interviews with passengers that may be exhibiting questionable behaviors.
WOWZA!!!!!
Just think for a second. If you were a bomber and you knew that there was the potential that some agent would come up to you and start talking while in the airport, it might make you think twice before even entering. Most people are so nervous when they are about to do something like blowing up an air plane, that all it takes is a single conversation to reveal themselves and their dastardly deeds.
But talking isn’t all they do. They know who you are before you even come to the airport. They’ve done their research. They know everything they need to know, and they never have to look at you naked unless they’ve already determined that you are a threat.
I’d go for that system any day of the week.
Enjoy!
