Not so fast, RossW.
Ozzie's example was an obvious statement of opinion and interpretation. Just look at the very words he quoted. You seem to have missed the part about "well regulated."
And what does that have to do with Schultz anyway? How does that prove he lied about anything?
But regarding the gun control issue, I'm personally against restricting gun rights. Buy all the guns you want. Very few liberals actually want to criminalize gun ownership. I'm certainly not one of them. And if I recall correctly, Ed himself is a hunter.
This whole "Liberals want to take your guns" nonsense is just manipulative fear-mongering designed to distract you from the real issues. Don't fall for it.

Ed just answered Becks challenge by joining the Oct. 2 march that was already planned in D.C. He can't form him own so he joins up with a march already planned by either Sharpton or Jackson...they will be bussing in bodies via their union alliances
Really, you come in casting aspersions about, demanding examples when you have yet to state one verifiable fact, let alone three. All I see coming from you are ad hominem attacks and strawman arguments, standard liberal/leftist tactics.
Verifiable Fact #1:
Don't tell Glenn, but his hero, the guy he likes to compare himself to (and even borrowed a book title, "Common Sense", from) founding father Thomas Paine was
a) A social justice advocate in favor of a progressive tax cut.
b) A proponent of universal government-funded healthcare.
c) Not a Christian. In fact, he thought the Bible was a book of lies and absurdities (as did many of the founding fathers). Just some of his quotes:
http://atheism.about.com/library/quotes/bl_q_TPaine.htm
d) By today's standards, a Liberal in almost every way. I'm sure if Paine was around today, Beck would demonize him (as well as MLK) as part of the evil "socialist" conspiracy.
Verifiable Fact #2:
Remember the ACORN prostitution scandal that all of FOX news and right-wing radio, including Beck, went nuts over for months last year, even convincing real news outlets to cover it?
Proven: It was all a made-up lie.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLn4Jz9gN2w&feature=related
Verifiable Fact #3:
Speaking of ACORN, remember the Beck & FOX-fueled furor over their supposed attempts to rig the election by registering fake voters?
(Here's Beck being an obnoxious ass to a very patient ACORN guest:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1deEJGLuP_0)
Again, ACORN was found innocent. In fact, it was ACORN who reported the fake registrations to the authorities in the first place. ACORN was the victim of the fraud (by bad temp employees), not the perpetrator!
http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/acorn_accusations.html
And the irony is that it wouldn't have made any difference in the elections anyway, as "Mickey Mouse" obviously wasn't going to vote.
Verifiable Fact #4:
Obama isn't even close to being a "Socialist". If anything, his actions and policies so far fall to the center right of the global political spectrum.
Ever talk to a REAL socialist? Ask them what they think of Obama. They aren't pleased. Nixon was more of a socialist than Obama is. Hell, by today's Republican standards (and Beck's), even Reagan was a socialist:
Verifiable Facts #'s 5 - 5000:
All the disproven garbage Beck and other Tea Party liars spewed about Healthcare Reform:
http://www.healthcarereformmyths.org/HealthcareReformMyths.php?Act=Home
There. I gave you more than three.
Your turn. Examples of Ed Schultz lying, please?
Wow, JW, are you even hearing yourself?
"a person whose only lot in life is to spew derogatory language toward a person they disagree. Is that how you guys operate when you disagree with someone?"
You've just described the modus operandi for virtually every right-wing talk show, particularly Limbaugh, Hannity, and Beck.
As for your excuses why Beck shouldn't debate Schultz, sounds like a cop-out.
For the record, Ed's OK but he's not my favorite liberal talker. Check out http://www.thomhartmann.com/ if you want to hear a whip-smart Liberal debate (and handily defeat) well-known Conservative guests.
an example:
Liberal position: Gun Control
Constitution: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Actually, he has far more. Over 2.5 million listeners to his radio show alone:
El Oh El
I'd pay to see that debate- No yelling over anyone and facts would have to be checked on the spot.
What exactly is Ed so right about?
What is Beck so wrong about?
Alan O,
Your "point" is what's called "An appeal to popularity", a common logical fallacy used by people who don't have any real argument. (and used by most of the posters on this very thread)
Let me explain to you why this is bad logic.
According to Talkers magazine, Talk Radio's leading industry publication, Ed Schultz' radio show has a larger listenership than many right-wing shows, including Dennis Miller, Dennis Prager, Hugh Hewitt, and G. Gordon Liddy.
http://talkers.com/online/?p=71
So according to your logic, that means that because he's more popular than them, Ed is right and those guys are wrong.
(Also, according to logic used by another poster, if any of those guys disparage Ed on their shows it's only because they're jealous of his larger audience.)
See how ridiculous your logic is?
Personally, I don't care whether Ed could or couldn't draw 300,000. (His listenership is almost 10 times that)
What matters is that he'd clean Beck's clock in a debate and Beck knows it.
Give me one example of Ed Schultz lying or stating a falsehood on his show. Not something that's a matter of opinion, but a verifiable falsehood. Give me one.
Off the top of my head, w/o even looking it up, I can give you three proven examples of Beck either lying or stating a falsehood. (regarding ACORN, Thomas Paine, and Obama's "socialism")
Ed wants 300k at his rally? He might get three hundred if he offers free beer, free bbq, and strippers.
Funny Everything that comes out of libs mouths is a lie. Glen would wipe Eds behind and then wipe the floor with him. The truth wins every time. Conservatives have it and Liberals do not.
Glenn will refuse because we are all bored stiff with Ed S and don't want to listen to him.
Your theory is flawed- liberal sissy men don't know how to use guns.....
but on the upside, you don't need any equipment for a slap-fight.
I miss the old Hamilton / Burr days. Schultz and Beck should duel. Perhaps with Olbermann standing between.
Ed Schultz ought to try bringing facts to his program first. Are you really this stupid Brady?
Nobody would even know who Mr. Ed (besides the horse that talks) is if it wasn't for people like Glenn Beck to mention his pathetic name. Btw is Mr. Ed still a slobbering drunk because he looks rough and has a face for radio. Truth and facts at MSNBC is equivalent to truth and facts in North Korea but at least the kooks at MSNBC will always have a country to fall back on once America is taken back and their propaganda is exposed even further.
Oh look it's the President and Vice President of Ed's fan club. Do you trade positions every couple of months?
The debate is already over:
FOXNEWS O’REILLY 3,977,000
FOXNEWS HANNITY 2,645,000
FOXNEWS BECK 2,600,000
FOXNEWS BAIER 2,097,000
FOXNEWS SHEP 1,858,000
FOXNEWS GRETA 1,856,000
MSNBC SHULTZ 699,000
Rounding out the figures of public opinion
Fox 16,000,000
Ed SHI*HEAD 700,00
Conclusion: Fox by 2,500%
Note to Aar:
Why do liberals always vent and steam and rage, yet never take any action or hold themselves accountable? If you are so interested in seeing a debate, get off your couch, tear up your welfare check, put away the kiddie porn, and go write a letter to Beck.
Note to Anti-aar:
Get outside more. Look around. Talk to some actual liberals. Find out what liberals actually say and do instead of just swallowing whatever lies Beck, Palin, Limbaugh, Hannity, etc tell you about us. You will find that your current perception is way off-base.
Wow.. who would have thought... A progressive replying to a challenge or question with another challenge or question... That's something totally new.... *yawn*
Beck will never show up anywhere to debate Ed Schultz. Schultz would bring facts to the table leaving Beck speechless. Out in the open and unable to lie, Beck would scamper like a cockroach to hide in a dark corner.
Why would GB waste his time on a nobody like Ed Schultz? In fact, I'm not sure why GB would even waste his own breath in mentioning someone as nonsensical as Ed Schultz. Especially a person whose only lot in life is to spew derogatory language toward a person they disagree. Is that how you guys operate when you disagree with someone? If this is the case, which I believe it is, will get you no where. Case in point, MSNBC and other news outlet.
So learn the most simplest common sense way of communicating with an individual. Once you've learned that - then you'll start to realize the truth.
Otherwise - you're actually wasting everyone time.
Quiet honestly, I believe the only reason why Mr. Schultz made the suggestion to have a face-to-face debate with GB is for his own purposes only - ratings.
As a listener and viewer of GB, no I would not even think about suggesting to GB to debate with Mr. Schultz, unless I thought it would be constructive - but I doubt it.
God Bless you Aar. ;)
Today on his show Ed Schultz just challenged Beck to a face-to-face debate. Of course Beck the coward will refuse because he knows Schultz will expose him for the liar and con artist he is.
What do you think, Beck fans? If you think Beck could beat Schultz in a debate, pressure your guy to accept Ed's challenge.
Loved the picture of Glenn "Washington".
It goes to show you the immaturity of Ed Schultz stating that he can draw a crowd of 300K. What he is really saying is that he is so consumed with jealousy and can't stand the fact that his audience on his program is probably 10% of what Glenn's program.
Grow up, be a man Ed Schultz - accept your failures and hopefully you may become a better person!
You have to give Ed credit for conceding 300K and not saying 87K like CBS, but that's about it. He needs to remember neither union dues or any other fund paid all the transportation & lodging expenses for the 8/28 crowd. If Ed does it everyone will be on time and a half or double time. LMAO.
Ed Shultz wishes he could get 300,000 to listen to his radio or tv show. I don't think he even has that total between the 2.
