Glenn Beck Show Discussion – June 4, 2010

This one was not so 'illuminary' (I was fortunate to grow up during a time ~60s~ and in a family where “history” was just last week's news… and was discussed as daily events).

However, this one was funny, rich, and refreshing (the Franklin 'expert' was hilarious and outstanding!).

    Best Founders show so far-

    Definitely because of the guests.

..I certainly would like them to quit labeling these guys as something other than Christian…unitarianism was not even around yet…and a Deist..please, the Pope is a deist…

A one hour program (less commercials) like this once a week just isn't enough! Is it time for a Fox History channel?

Could you imagine the onslaught they would get from others claiming a propaganda channel.

Truth is a scary thing- a history channel dedicated to the truths in the Constitution and American history without the liberal spin you get from the current history channel and without the distractions of reality shows-

I imagine it would be a huge hit as Glenn Beck's show may be illustrating.

Hope someone picks up that ball and runs with it.

What was said in regards to unitarianism was “he would have been what is known as a unitarian today” not that he was one just that he did not suscribe to any “official religion”. The Pope a Deist?,”you keep using that word,I do not think it means what you think it means. I would love to hear just how you reached the conclusion that the leader of one of the largest orgainised religions is a Deist.

I agree…I've learned more from Founders Fridays than I ever learned in school…Only thing I ever learned about Franklin in school was about him flying the kite….that's pretty much it…

  • Pyrran

Not having any children in my family, I don't know what if any of this is being taught in our schools. I know that it should be taught, but I suspect there are a legion of forces arrayed against this kind of truth.

  • Pyrran

All they have to do is look at the ratings and hire Beck to run it.
What will actually happen is that PBS will get worried, create a series of their own, and use their own “experts” to make sure this stuff never sees the light of day.

  • http://twitter.com/ozziecastillo Ozzie Castillo

I like how he uses their own words- and recommends that we read their own words to learn from-

It wouldn't be long before the other “experts” are on their own special telling us that they didn't really mean that or we didn't read it “correctly”- We just don't understand that what they originally meant was the progressive agenda, or much like the Huffington Post review of Glenn's historical perspective is not that it isn't true, but that it's irrelevant.
    - good point Pyrran

  • Pyrran

Irrelevant! Don't you just love it! It makes you wonder what they were being taught in school. What's that little saying about those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it? Oh yeah, George Santayana. They probably think he is irrelevant as well. Personally, I would prefer not to repeat the American Revolution again, but as some commentator said recently, “It's not the British coming, but their coats are still red”.

I have a 5 part fox special but can't find on you tube.

Do You Know What Textbooks Your Children Are Really Reading

Here is a link to a very disturbing video.

    Muslim Kindergarten Graduation Ceremony

Kindergarten Graduation Ceremony at the Islamic Association in Gaza on Hamas TV (Palestine). It starts off all too innocently – you would expect the first scene to be common in many kindergartens, in all parts of the world. Cute girls wearing fairy costumes, dancing for their parents. Sweet.

But when it's the turn of the boys, well… it has to be seen to be believed.

I was lucky enough to have an terrific history teacher that made her classes interesting and fun and she told us all sorts of stories besides what was in the books about our founding fathers such as that Franklin had 17 illigitamate children in France etc. This was in the 60's and it was unusual for a teacher to tell students that kind of stuff. It is because of her that I have always loved history. Thank you Mrs. Griffith where ever you are. I really look forward to Beck's Founding Father Fridays.

I's it just me but isn't Beck a bit asinine at times. The fact that people don;t know our history is sad. What little the schools teach, they don't teach what it means. Now they are taught to be diverse groups and citizens of the world not Americans. I've rectified this with my kids but how many parents know or care what is happening around them. I own a rare edition of BF's autobio. books 1 & 2. There wonderfull!

Why do you call Beck asinine? Are you saying that Beck is the “idiot,” “unintelligent”?

I'm not sure but your post would argue that Beck is actually the “clever” one, who is “bright” and “intelligent” since it is he that is doing the teaching of that which isn't being taught in our schools to our children.
