Dragging a little child in front of the country is a disgrace. It is just like a bunch of the those others in Iran,Iraq,Afghanistan,Pakistan hiding behind woman and children. (this is a very brave group to be a part of don't you think?).

To be honest however I have also seen it before with education in upstate NY in the 1990s. Can you remember this…it shouldn't hurt to be a kid…

I guess that if that worked then then it will work now.

First off……Thank you Jesus, and you FOX allowing RIGHTSCOOP to post these three clips of the Beck show. And thank you Rightscoop for not giving up on getting these posted.
My son also thanks you because of his continued studies of the founding fathers, and getting ready with studies on George Washington.
You are all in our prayers, and so is that mr. sourpuss who started all this conflict with FOX news. Aloha and God bless

Listening to Glen here makes me so sad. Congress against the wishes of the people are going to pass this Health Care bill. Then they are going to try and convince us that the majority of the people want it like the Senator from MO, who is telling everyone who protests, “Oh no the majority of people want it.” The lies, the force, the deception is just overwhelming.

Mediaite had a strange caption for todays show. It says “Wow, Did Glenn Beck Just Fail U.S History 101?”

I'm not sure what they're getting at. Did Glenn make some major goof?

  • Tyler

I'm not exactly sure about TODAY'S show because I haven't double-checked THESE lessons, but in the past Glenn HAS messed up in a FEW places…but MAJORLY? I don't really think so. Probably the BIGGEST mistake I've seen Glenn make is when he posts up the Debt Clock and quotes a wrong number from that while the exact live site on screen says otherwise. Just a SMALL goof, but the point's still well-taken and I am YET to see any FALSEHOOD in what he's tellin people historically.

To both you guys, what mediate said was(and i will quote the part i think rick is talking about)

“Beck begins by calling out Sen. Tom Harkin for saying during a speech last December that the health care bill would finally make health care “an unalienable right of every American.” Here is Beck’s response:

Glenn: Tom! I don’t know if you’ve read the Declaration of Independence but you don’t have the power to grant people rights. You don’t create them, you don’t enhance them. They are not yours…In case you missed it “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights.” Who the hell do you think you are Congress? You are not God.(end Glenn)

Okay. I am going to leave out the God part (something I think the Founders also endeavored to do?) and just focus on the “you don’t create them, you don’t enhance them” part which is staggeringly untrue. Because that is exactly what Congress does. They create rights, and , also known as a Constitutional amendment. Then they take this proposal for an amendment and send it to all the State legislatures, 3/4 of which must ratify it in order for it to become law. Therefore guaranteeing an individual’s rights. (Option 2: Constitutional Convention.) This is how we got everything from Freedom of Speech to Womens’ Right to Vote. This is pretty basic American history. Which I have to assume Beck has read. Which makes me wonder if he is assuming his viewers haven’t? Not sure, either way, wildly out of character.”

First off, they were wrong about God and that the Founders wanted to leave it out, cause if so, they wouldnt have posted God on nearly every document they wrote up. Secondly, Congress doesnt grant a single citizen a single right, they put handcuffs on them. I dont care if some of what they quoted in the Constitution was semi-quoted correctly, it was still incorrectly interpreted. So, Rick, if I were you, dont listen to what they print, they are radical Progressives, the same ones that Glenn warns us of daily.

And to Tyler, hopefully by the time you read this, you have watched the show, and read the mediate commentary. If you didnt, I quoted it for ya so you could see what they had to say about the show tonite.

So basically what you're saying is that congress can't establish rights, although they may recognize certain universal rights that people have.

The concept of health care as a right is a strange idea. What level of health care are we talking about? If a Doctor sees me and writes a quick prescription (which is the only health care I've ever had) that's not the same as access to specialists and the best treatments in a timely manner.

Giving millions of people health insurance doesn't mean that there will suddenly be more Doctors and facilities or that those Doctors are suddenly going to work double time to take care of all the new demand.

Guaranteed health insurance doesn't really mean anything except that there will presumably be greater demands on the medical system. More Doctors and more facilities will be needed and that can only cost more money. Or the alternative is to just lower treatment standards and increase wait times as is often done in many countries.

I don't think they've really thought this through.

I agree. Any politician using a child as a prop is a disgrace.
