If you watched the Restoring Honor rally then you heard Glenn talk about finding out he didn’t have enough money just a few weeks before the event was supposed to happen. At that time he didn’t share what the money was needed for, but as it turns out it was for event security. They were initially told by the Justice Dept. they could use a group that everyone uses, but the Justice Dept. changed their mind and told Glenn he had to find his own security. That’s when the miracle happened.

Enjoy!

So much for pledging his fortune and sacred honor. According to Forbes, Glenn Beck makes about $32 million dollars a year. For him to even have to rely on donations to pay for the security of his event is pretty insulting to the intelligence of the listener. 500K is pocket change to this guy, and for him to lament the cost, while repeating the pledge from the Declaration, and then having the gall to say it was devine intervention of other people pldeging their 8 cent fortunes.

This is just too stupid for words and is a great example of why so many people think Beck is a phony.

      Dear Jaynie,

Didn’t have time to reply before now, working to pay bills, but I do know the answer to your question. Even I, a mere fan of business (not necessarily corporate type), know how to do this. You use your $32 mill for ongoing expenses which include putting $$ away for future expenses, and so you are actually up to your amount taken in. Budget in balance. An additional $500 thousand expense, though small in proportion, is definitely something to be handled — somehow. In this case, the added blessing was that people wanted to help!

      Hope that helps.

Jaynie59 – there are times when God calls us to obedience. Sometimes God has plans to use ALL His people not just one in particular. Sometimes in our own selfishness we rob others of a blessing God wants to give them. In other words, Glenn felt a burden (from God) to include others to help with the expense of the event. Sure, he could have selflessly given from his “abundance”, which he and his family did for this event. Those people who gave, including myself, were called upon to be part of the blessing. I don’t care what Glenn makes. I gave from the bottom of my heart. From a call God placed on my heart to be a part of what He was doing. It’s all about God. It’s not about me, or Glenn or anyone else, it’s God we are giving glory to. We give with a joyful heart!

I agree it’s too stupid for words, but you shouldn’t judge yourself so harshly. You probably had a bad day with the success of the rally. I understand how you feel when you see the progressive movement going down the tubes. Have a great day.

I really hate to break this to you, but Glenn Beck is the best thing that has happened to the Progessives since Obama’s election. Beck is exactly what they needed he’s doing a great job of fulfilling Alinsky’s rules.

Those of us who watch and follow him know that’s what they’re doing. But that doesn’t mean it’s not working. It is working, and he is helping make it work.

Oh you poor misguided woman. You are one of the progressives that want to shut Glenn Beck down, but you say that Beck is the best thing that has happened to the progressives. If he is the best thing that has happened to the progressives, I would think you would want him to stay on the air.

Oh. So when Glenn was on the plane and got word that security was going to end up costing $500K, it was God who made him not even consider whipping out the old check book?

Hey, I’d be satisfied if the explanation is that there is some law or IRS rule that prevented him from paying for it himself. That still wouldn’t explain why he loves repeating the whole “pledge their fortunes” line from the DOI, but it would explain why he couldn’t pay for it out of his own private income. I guess.

I think Jaynie that you probably don’t have a clue how much Beck has contributed to this endeavor, not to mention everything in him. Not to mention all the money he has raised to support the troops.

I think his wife wrote the check for the Kennedy center out of their pockets, and I think that alone was 2 million.

It appears to me that you are just wanting to hate on Beck today. Why I don’t know, but I suggest you do your research before coming in here with bazookas wide open.

  • Anonymous

Jaynie, no where did he say that the event would be cancelled if the fund raising did not get enough money for security so I imagine he would have shelled out the money. Get it now?

Can’t believe we have to explain things to people that are so obvious.

    • Anonymous

I guess you have to believe in God to understand it.

Could you explain to me how and when Beck would have come to the conclusion he would have to pay for it himself? A sign from God? No sign from God?

You’re right, when it comes to people trying to say what God does, and why He does it, or why He doesn’t do it, and why that affects what they do or don’t do, I’m completely clueless.

If I made $32 million a year I wouldn’t ask God for $500K. Just saying.

How would he have come to the conclusion? Well gee, like maybe when the money didn’t come from the donations….

Remember this was a charity in addition to a rally. And if Glenn just opened up his wallet, what would anyone else have gotten out of it? Kinda like when you GIVE to liberals instead of making them earn ….

I agree with you on one point. You are clueless.

I plead guilty to being completely clueless about how people who believe in God think. I will never understand it.

I will never understand how anyone who makes the kind of money Beck makes could make a big deal about $500K. I also think him bragging about raising $5.5 million, when if what Forbes reported he earns a year is true, he pays more than that in taxes. I don’t even want to think about how much he tithes to the Mormon church.

Not what I said. It’s about God using people to further His kingdom. It’s about being obedient to that call God places on our hearts to bless His people..

Blessings come from Obeying God. Psalm 1:1

“But in my distress I cried out to the Lord; yes, I called to my God for help. He heard me from His sanctuary; my cry reached His ears.” 2 Sam.22:7

“But, whether or not their motives are pure, the fact remains that the message about Christ is being preached, so I rejoice.” Philippians 1:18

“No good thing will the Lord withhold from those who do what is right.” Psalm 84:11

“Come and see what our God has done, what awesome miracles He does for His people!” Psalm 66:5

God used millions of people to perform His mighty miracles to bless the SOWF. That’s the BIG picture.

“With God’s help we will do mighty things.” Psalm 60:12

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.” Romans 8:28

You do realize the 5.5 mil came from donations, not from Glenn? People giving out of the goodness of their heart and your critique appears to be trying to minimalize that giving. Is that what you are trying to do?

It is better for the cause (charity) if the money all comes from donations. Not some rich guy pulling out his wallet. Do you make the same complaint when a movie star like Angelina Jolie puts in her time and effort for something like Haiti instead of just whipping out her wallet?

He suffered death threats against he and his family and you have the gall to demonize his money handling?????

    sad

Get a grip. I’m not demonizing his “money handling”. And yes, I have just as much of a problem with the likes of the Angelina Jolie’s of the world being treated liked saints when they make millions of dollars for spitting out a kid and give a small fraction of it to charity as if that’s noble.

You know, I don’t believe in God. I will never understand how people who do can be so unwilling to part with their own cash and blame God for it. That’s pretty much the definition of gall.

Keep denying it, you ARE demonizing. And just a side note: I don’t believe either. But I do not fear those who do. So I’m pointing out your hypocrisy.

“blame God for it”?? That didn’t even make sense.

Jaynie59 – I love sports, most Americans do. I was wondering, when you go to a professional baseball game (insert sport of your choice) do you buy a ticket? Do you then also go to the owner of that TEAM and demand a refund because he makes too much money? Do you yell at the players during the game because they make too much money? Do you see any of those players doing what Glenn Beck did to RESTORE HONOR in America on 8/28? It all sounds pretty silly, doesn’t it?

You see, I believe you’re “barking up the wrong tree.” Glenn beck was not “unwilling to part with his own cash”. He spent millions of his own money (actually God’s money since everything we have comes from HIM) on this event. So, I guess before you throw stones…think before you speak…”judge not, lest ye be judged.”

I’m praying for you. You see For God so loved Jaynie59 that He gave is only son…that you might have life, and that more abundantly. God bless you, He’s real.
