I’m not really interested in all the machinations of drama surrounding this fiscal cliff deal. It’s a loser for the country if they make a deal and unfortunately I fear there are many more like Lindsey Graham that are willing to gladly capitulate. I’d rather go over this fiscal cliff and deal with it retroactively next year.

Either way, it’s clear not enough of them are interested in solving the real fiscal cliff this country is headed toward. They are doing nothing but cutting out more paper dolls as America gets closer to the ‘abyss’.

One of the most beautiful documentaries done on Jerusalem and its position in Biblical prophecy, click here for details.

So the bottom line is nothing will be done today or tomorrow that will actually help America. It’s all politics just like Obama wanted and our weak Republican Party is playing the game to lose.

Considering many of you are more interested in this than I am, here’s an open thread for you to discuss a deal that isn’t going to help anything.

The amount of signatures to deport Piers Morgan has reached nearly 100,000! :-)

They were trying/hoping to reach the needed 25,000 signatures before Jan20,2013 and have blown that requirement clear out of the water!

See: https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/deport-british-citizen-piers-morgan-attacking-2nd-amendment/prfh5zHD

I also saw Morgan threatening to self-deport: "Deport me? If America won't change its crazy gun laws... I may deport myself"

I say, don't let the door hit your arse on the way out you plastic pretentious Libtard waste of air!

If on January 3rd we do not get a New Speaker of the House, the Republican Party is dead.

How the hell did we get to this point? The House passed extensions MONTHS AGO, did budgets and fulfilled their constitutional authority, and yet it's the GOP's fault? It's never Reid's fault... or the Democratic Senate.

You know, as much as I hate the Democrats and detest Obama, I must say they are absolutely brilliant. Their messaging...their "optics," is all freaking amazing.

If, and I mean a big if, we cross this cliff, and Obama comes in with a huge "Obama Tax Cut," where it's essentially re-branding the Bush era's but making them permanent, if this comes to pass, it means Obama was never set out to destroy the country but to destroy the Republican party indefinitely.

I don't know how the GOP survives after this point, nor do I care anymore.

The GOP caved, they caved and they'll still be blamed for the cliff.

Have we learned nothing?!

Every damn Democrat went out on TV and kept their message concise "GOP just won't say yes!"

How come Boehner never called out Reid? Where is the damn Anger from Cantor or any other GOP leader?

Damn it, the GOP needs to be put out of it's misery fast.

If I were the Tea-Party GOP Congressmen/women I'd switch to be Independent/3rd Party now.

It's laughable. Newt Gingrich ran arguably the most Conservative Congress in my lifetime, and he was forced out because of a loss of 6 seats and a coup lead by Boehner to oust him.

Yet Boehner... has just destroyed the GOP's brand forever and he'll be re-elected Speaker...

The winner tonight ladies and gentlemen?

Nancy Pelosi, for she'll get her 17 seats she needs to be Speaker of the House again in 2014.

And the final 2 years of Obama's 2nd term will be the reinstating of the axis of democratic evil, Obama/Pelosi/Reid.

"You know, as much as I hate the Democrats and detest Obama, I must say they are absolutely brilliant. Their messaging...their "optics," is all freaking amazing."

Master illusionists. What is amazing are the hordes that see comfort within their ignorance. (Note: Don't see this as criticism, I am not accusing Joe of ignorance. Joe is spot on while few seem to even have heard let alone know the following fact Joe points out: "It's laughable. Newt Gingrich ran arguably the most Conservative Congress in my lifetime, and he was forced out because of a loss of 6 seats and a coup lead by Boehner to oust him.") But:

Is a used car salesman absolutely brilliant making a sale to a sucker who happened onto the lot when the MSM/Press are their to praise the salesman while goading the sucker to buy the junk the salesman is selling?

I put the GOP in with the hordes of ignorance if not outright treason.

US Tax Revenue: $2,170,000,000,000

Fed budget: $3,820,000,000,000

New debt :$1,650,000,000,000

National debt:$14,271,000,000,000

Recent budget cuts $38,500,000,000

Lets now remove eight zeros and pretend this is a household budget.

Annual family income: $21,700

Money the family spent: $38,200

New debt on the credit card: $16,500

Outstanding balance on credit card: $142,710

Total budget cuts so far: $38.50

Got it? Ok now,

Here is another way to look at the debt ceiling.

Lets say you come home from work

and find there has been a sewer backup in your neighborhood...

and your house has sewage all the way up to the ceilings...

What do you think you should do?

Raise the ceilings or remove the shi*?

A friend posted this sign he saw somewhere on Facebook. Why wouldn't republicans use this same setup of information and give it to Americans just as this says? Dumb

Timely Book - The Dictator's Handbook, or why bad behavior is almost always good politics.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/1610391845#_

"For eighteen years, Bruce Bueno de Mesquita and Alastair Smith have been part of a team revolutionizing the study of politics by turning conventional wisdom on its head. They start from a single assertion: Leaders do whatever keeps them in power. They don’t care about the “national interest”—or even their subjects—unless they have to.

This clever and accessible book shows that the difference between tyrants and democrats is just a convenient fiction."

This "fiscal cliff" points out pretty emphatically just why the Republicans loose arguments before even getting into an argument. The Republicans start by accepting and then repeating the labels/premise/straw man the Leftists place at the head of the argument(s) and then proceed to argue against what they have already accepted.

clockwindingdown

Excellent post aposematic. The reps do not know how to debate, they by in to the false premise and instantly loose, as you mentioned. That leads one to believe that after all this time they are in agreement and want the same things, save for a few. In other words it is a show to create an illusion to subdue the citizenry.

Everyone here should run for public office. Win or loose we send a message that we are not happy and change is coming...

Very perceptive, and well stated.

This is what happens when politicians have no core. Most republicans and democrats parrot whatever they think will win the election. Their driving motivations are power, prestige and money. They'll do anything to get it and hold onto it.

I pray constitutionalists in congress continue to hang tough in the face of GOPe pressure to make a deal with the democrats. One can only imagine the concessions McConnell must be offering Biden. Then there's Manchin and his 'CALM' bill, intended to sneak tax increases in over three years. Anything to prevent us from seeing the full damage of their profligate spending. The fiscal cliff panic is all about covering their own tails.

It sounds like they didn't reach a deal tonight, which is good news for the rest of us. Stand strong, Tea party conservatives. We're depending on you.

To me all this nonsense is a very simple fix, but might be illegal to advocate for it. So, I am not.

This Cliff Bullshit is exactly the type of thing that happens when there is no budget. When the normal processes, designed to deal with these types of things, simply aren't there. I mean, it isn't like experienced people couldn't see this coming. After all, there is kind of a history that we all can point to, where the world didn't quite go - according to "hope and change."

In fact, simple budgeting and prudence is exactly how families and business have been dealing with these types of things for thousands of years.

But, more to the point: it would seem entirely reasonable, that if a bunch of whack jobs in Government, cannot produce a budget ... then there is no way any of the rest of us, should ever be forced to pay for it. I mean, aren't they supposed to go hand in hand? Isn't this kind of like the first test ... that can tell us whether or not these clowns are capable?

Why do our employees get to NOT say what they will be spending our money on and why ... but the rest of us are put in jail if we don't tell them exactly what happens in our families and businesses...

If Government is so much more ethical and moral than business is ...I say it's about time they proved it. Either put up ... or shut up.

The Republicans should immediately put forward a bill, heck a Constitutional Amendment, that says there will be no more April 15 paydays for anybody ... until the American people get to be a part of the process that THEY are paying for.

Either, produce a budget, (READ: Get your damn act together) .... or, get no money. It is that simple...

No matter how much it may disappoint dear leaders Obama and Boehner .... They don't get to sit in little rooms and pretend to be Kings .... There ARE other methods .....

Watch this video. Please watch this video. This is pure BS at its best. This man is responsible for more debt, than all the Presidents in our History. IN OUR HISTORY!!!

And here he is, talking on national television, like this is all the fault of Republicans.

I guess it would have been nice if I had actually posted the link. :)

http://www.teaparty.org/obama-ready-for-fiscal-cliff-says-nbcs-gregory-17924/

There is only one explanation for this. It is twofold. One, most Americans are brain dead. Because no one remembers all the speeches this man has made. He has lied repeatedly, not only in speeches, but he has done so, on national television.

If you went back and recorded all of his speeches, and all of the BS that has he has expounded through his big mouth over time, and compared those words to what he is spouting right now, you would be looking at two or three different human beings. His mouth changes and adapts to the changing political landscape.

Whatever crisis that is visited upon the American people, you can be sure Obama will take full advantage of it. Connecticut is only the most recent.

This man makes me puke. Every time I see him on the computer, I puke. I am not a man whose hatred of others, comes easily. That being said, I hate this man with every fiber of my being. God forgive me. This man is Satan, himself.

Right on the mark! The 52 percent who voted for Zero keep eating the pablum (in the form of "free" goodies) Zero and other authoritarians are serving. The 52 percent include those who have been brainwashed by the propagandist media arm of Zero and the American re-educational system who refuse to believe. Still others are so uninformed and mind-numbed that they are like automatons who are prepared to serve any master they are programmed to serve (in this instance, Zero). Most of them will believe anything that the authoritarians choose for them to believe.

"You mean something like this? ;-)

“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America ‘s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government can not pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America ‘s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, “the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”

– Senator Barack H. Obama, March 2006

Will the real Barack Obama please stand up, (providing there IS a real Barack Obama in the first place). ;-) ;-)

Thank you for that, Tinlizzie. The real beauty of Scoop, is that we are a collective mind, and we are able to bring all of our memories and our web wanderings together in one place. This is what people mean, when they mention, "the new media."

The new media is us. The new media is Tinlizzie. The new media is anyone out there, who divorces themselves from the Lamestream media, and goes on a journey to seek information on their own, and form their own opinions of the information they find.

Fortunately, the internet provides that source. The internet protects my sources of information, the Second Amendment protects my Freedom.

Let us do all we can to protect both. It is for certain, there are those among us, who would deny us both.

I think the thing that frustrates me the most is that we have seen something like this happen over and over again throughout the history of this country and yet, it seems that about every 2 generations we seem to forget everything we have learned in the past. :-(

Sorry to be crass... but I don't give a squat about it either. Obama and his lapdog media created a new monster and called it "The Fiscal Cliff". Then they made America fear it without being honest about what it REALLY is. And now they are exploiting it. Anything to draw attention away from the REAL monster, who is Obama. HE is the problem with this nation - all wrapped up in one corrupted person.

I'm with you Scoop. This all means nothing. Republicans will be blamed for raising taxes or for "not raising taxes" by not voting... either way, they have painted themselves in a corner and deserve what they get here. Boneheads. Meanwhile, the criminal Democrats, liberals, obama and media will continue to lie to the American people and destroy America from within.

Our day will come... Lord willing.

white531

I agree with ApplePie. If you look at this in real terms, we haven't had a Federal budget in several years, thanks to Harry Reid and the Senate. You call this a Government?

I welcome the so-called, "fiscal cliff." Because it represents the failure of the status quo. Doing the same old thing, over and over, and kicking the can down the road.

This country is broke. China owns this country. Because China owns our debt.

This administration and this president and this Congress want to perpetuate this madness, by telling you we can fix this by making those who earn lots of money, pay more in taxes.

The amount of money that will garner, Obama can spend in one week. He's already proven that.

This isn't a government. This is a soap opera. If there was any other program on right now, I would switch the channel. But there isn't.

Never mind. I don't own a television, anyway. I almost forgot. But this isn't television drama. This is real. This is actually happening. We actually do have an Idiot for a President. Hard to believe, I know.

But here's the clincher. It isn't the Idiot leading us, who is the problem. It's all the Idiots following him, with their noses where they shouldn't be. Is that visual too indelicate? I'll apologize tomorrow.

I'm afraid that we WON'T go over the fiscal cliff. In the long term, it could be our salvation. The frantic efforts of those spenders on the hill to avert it makes one suspect that they will be the biggest losers. Shut down the national government for a few months, and we might start to see some real economic recovery.

What bothers me is that from this summer last year up until now, it has all been shenanigans from the Executive branch. This spending binge is just ridiculous. And it's a shame that when we as citizens fall on hard times, we cut our expenses and move forward. But when the government has that opportunity, it does the opposite.
