Gov. Jindal schools reporter on what Obama could do to lessen price of oil and gas

Gov. Jindal is asked by a reporter what Obama can really do now regarding oil and gas prices since it’s not something he can really control (you’ll notice how she endeavors to protect Obama in her question). But Gov. Jindal schools the reporter on what Obama has actually done and what he can actually do to make this crisis better on the American public (h/t: Right Sphere)

Below is my synopsis of his points but be sure and listen to the video above. It is excellent:

  • Obama shouldn’t be slowing down leasing both on-shore and off-shore.
    1. Obama talks about record production but refuses to reveal how much of that production is on private land and how much is from leases given under the Bush administration.
    2. Obama can create predictable environment of energy production, but thus far he hasn’t done that with leasing or permits. Off-shore permitting and leasing still not back to normal activity levels.
  • Obama could send the signal that his administration isn’t going to shut down natural gas fracking, and convey that it is actually safe.
  • Obama could manage it via the regulatory environment. Example: New Teir 3 gasoline standards will add around a $.25/gallon in an economy where gas prices are already increasing.
    1. Also, he could send the signal that there won’t be anymore Cap and Trade regulations on Oil and Gas.
  • Obama could agree to the Keystone pipeline.
  • Obama could stop proposing new taxes on energy production.
