Hugo Chavez endorses Obama for president

Over the weekend Socialist Hugo Chavez endorsed Obama for president:

CNN – President Barack Obama received one endorsement he definitely did not ask for Monday: Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

The leftist leader and strong man, who has used strong anti-United States language in his political rallies and official speeches, told state-owned VTV, “In the point of view of his politics, if I were voting, I would vote for Obama and I believe that if Obama was from Caracas, he would vote for Chavez, I am positive.”

“Obama is a good guy,” continued the Venezuelan president, who has led his country since 1999 but is facing his strongest challenge in years. The outspoken, socialist leader is predicted to win a sweeping victory.

This would be the 2nd endorsement Obama has gotten from a communist/socialist nation. The first one was earlier this year:

Mariela Castro, the daughter of President Raul Castro, also lamented the “small group of delinquents” whom she said were preventing the warming of ties between Washington and Havana.

“I think he’s sincere and speaks from the heart,” Castro — whose US trip has been denounced by opposition Republicans — said of Obama’s recent public endorsement of gay marriage.

“I think it’s something that he truly believes in… If I were a US citizen, I would vote for President Obama,” she added, speaking via an interpreter at her first public event in a trip to San Francisco.

Obama is really getting those freedom-loving endorsements these days. Tells us everything we need to know.
