Incredible interview with deceased SEAL’s family

Wow, this really is an incredible interview. The family of a SEAL Team 6 member that was killed this weekend was interviewed this morning on the Today Show, and the family didn’t hold back in describing how much he loved Jesus and how much he believed radical Islam was a threat to our country:

(via TownHall)

***

UPDATE: Looks like CNN didn’t want their viewers to know that Aaron Vaughn was a warrior for Christ:

When introducing a two-part report entitled “Deadliest Blow of the War” this morning, anchor Carol Costello commented, “One Navy SEAL widow wants the country to know [that] her husband was a hero.”* Immediately thereafter, a video aired of a tearful Kimberly Vaughn proudly proclaiming, “I want to tell the world that he was an amazing man, that he was a wonderful husband, and a fabulous father to two wonderful children. He was a warrior for Christ, and he was a warrior for our country. And, he wouldn’t want to leave this earth any other way than how he did.

Subsequently, Carol went to CNN correspondent Barbara Starr who gave the latest details of the story. When Starr had finished her account, Carol’s co-anchor Ali Velshi segued to CNN correspondent Brian Todd, who was in Virginia Beach, Virginia (the “adopted home of the Navy SEAL Team), asking, “What’s the mood around there?” In response, Todd declared, “What happened on Saturday is just now beginning to sink in, and it’s very tough to take.”

Then, Todd began his report with a snippet of Kimberly Vaughn sorrowfully recounting her mournful reaction of falling to her knees when informed of the death of her husband, Navy SEAL Aaron Vaughn. Subsequently, as Todd intoned that Kimberly was now left to care for their two-month-old daughter soon-to-be two-year-old son, the video continued with Kimberly’s tribute aired only five minutes earlier.** However, this time CNN censored the clip: Gone was Kimberly’s six-word remark, “He was a warrior for Christ.”

I love the sheepdog, sheep, and wolves. If you haven’t read Bill Whittles essay on this it is outstanding.

    • Anonymous

If you are reffering to Colonel Grossmans recollection of sheep, sheepdogs and wolves here is his words.
One Vietnam veteran, an old retired colonel, once said this to me: “Most of the people in our society are sheep. They are kind, gentle, productive creatures who can only hurt one another by accident.” This is true. Remember, the murder rate is six per 100,000 per year, and the aggravated assault rate is four per 1,000 per year. What this means is that the vast majority of Americans are not inclined to hurt one another.

Some estimates say that two million Americans are victims of violent crimes every year, a tragic, staggering number, perhaps an all-time record rate of violent crime. But there are almost 300 million Americans, which means that the odds of being a victim of violent crime is considerably less than one in a hundred on any given year. Furthermore, since many violent crimes are committed by repeat offenders, the actual number of violent citizens is considerably less than two million.

Thus there is a paradox, and we must grasp both ends of the situation: We may well be in the most violent times in history, but violence is still remarkably rare. This is because most citizens are kind, decent people who are not capable of hurting each other, except by accident or under extreme provocation. They are sheep.

I mean nothing negative by calling them sheep. To me it is like the pretty, blue robin’s egg. Inside it is soft and gooey but someday it will grow into something wonderful. But the egg cannot survive without its hard blue shell. Police officers, soldiers and other warriors are like that shell, and someday the civilization they protect will grow into something wonderful. For now, though, they need warriors to protect them from the predators.
“Then there are the wolves,” the old war veteran said, “and the wolves feed on the sheep without mercy.” Do you believe there are wolves out there who will feed on the flock without mercy? You better believe it. There are evil men in this world and they are capable of evil deeds. The moment you forget that or pretend it is not so, you become a sheep. There is no safety in denial.

“Then there are sheepdogs,” he went on, “and I’m a sheepdog. I live to protect the flock and confront the wolf.” Or, as a sign in one California law enforcement agency put it, “We intimidate those who intimidate others.”

If you have no capacity for violence then you are a healthy productive citizen: a sheep. If you have a capacity for violence and no empathy for your fellow citizens, then you have defined an aggressive sociopath–a wolf. But what if you have a capacity for violence, and a deep love for your fellow citizens? Then you are a sheepdog, a warrior, someone who is walking the hero’s path. Someone who can walk into the heart of darkness, into the universal human phobia, and walk out unscathed.

Maybe this is not th best place to tell this story, but couldn’t help myself…

My wife and I bought 4 mini goats and becuase of that we had to get goat dogs. The goat dogs came first, before we received the goats. These goat dogs, male and female we trained with 150 goats when we bought them and we placed them in our yard which currently houses two separate chicken cages. We also have three beagles and a pitbull mix, which we occasionly let out into the yard to play. Trying to make a long story short here, sometimes when our beagles are inside we let the goat dogs out and let the chickens out to roam also in the yard. After 2 weeks of this the goat dogs decided they were supposed to guard the chickens now. One day after putting the chickens back in the cage and letting the beagles out I noticed that one of the chickens was loose in the yard. The most amazing thing I had ever seen happened next…

The female goat dog (btw, these are Great Pyranees breeds), sensing the chciken was in trouble, ran over to the chicken and proceeded to stand above the chicken and squat on top of it and then defended from all four sides against the 3 beagles. Not only that but the goat dog used its hind quarters as a scoop to move and guide chicken away from the dogs who were desparately trying to geyt at the chciken. This whole scene lasted several minutes until went outside and walked over to the chciken which remained frozen underneath the goat dog and the goat dog allwoed me to take the chicken from her and put it back in the cage. During this whole time the goat dog didn’t make a sound until after I took the chicken waway it then proceeded to bark and school the beagles. I wish to this day I had a video of this event it was so amazing to watch!

I guess the moral of this story is thank God for those in our life who are like those goat dogs or as 4Hoppes9 refers to them, sheepdogs. And don’t forget about the greatest protector of sheep, the Great Shepherd, Jesus! Psalms 23!

My mother’s family had an Australian sheep dog when she and her brother and sisters were small. That dog would “herd” them, cordon them off from going outside the fence of the family yard. Touching how nature has been designed sometimes!!

Warriors such as this man know what the truth is. They know they can die at any moment on any mission. That they undertake these missions without regard for themselves illustrates the class, patriotism, and honor that they possess. These men are the best America has to offer. Godspeed, warriors; may you find peace and comfort in the arms of your Heavenly father.

Now he will be an example, along with his family to look up to, to emulate, and to remind us all what John 15:13 – “Greater love has no one than this….. ” truly means.

Yes, and in my post only was thinking of that family. I do know that we all may be called to stand in that breach one day, though I don’t relish the thought, I’d say there’d be a lot of us who would, as all the generations before ours have, and do.

How in the HELL can you (Matt Lousy. and ALL your ilk) offer your “condolences” to the family of a man who represents fully what YOU PLAY A DAILY, WILLFUL ROLE IN UNDERMINING, DAMAGING and GIVING AID AND COMFORT TO THE ENEMIES OF THE REPUBLIC FOR WHICH HE FOUGHT?

Stories like this bring me hope.

    Daniel 11:32
    (NKJV):
Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.

If you combined every individual in the entire Obama Administration, they still wouldn’t add up to 1/1000th of the man that Aaron was (and is).

  • NEO CON JOHN

May GOD Bless this family, This father expressed a thought that I have felt since the first report of this terrible incident, and that was someone SOLD OUR BOYS OUT!
This team was set up from the word go,a rescue mission my ass.
That was the premise to get them to respond in force, then they were AMBUSHED!
GOD will not let this go unpunished! “VENGEANCE IS MINE SAITH THE LORD”.
Go in peace our Christian warriors.

Vaughn’s father seemed to be saying that the SEALs’ deaths were a set-up, and he referred to some “sheep high up” who were responsible.

If that is true – and I have no trouble believing it – those responsible aren’t sheep. They’re vile and filthy beyond any words I would care to use or that scoop would allow to be posted. Neocon is right: Psalm 110:5-6. Heads of state are not exempt.

“It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” Hebrews 10:31. Their day is coming. It’s too bad we have to wait so long to see it.

    • Anonymous

I heard that, too, and wondered if he might be referring to Biden letting out that one SEAL’s identity the other day.

      • Anonymous

I sincerely hope it was just Biden’s big loose mouth. The thought of Biden becoming president makes me understand why the Secret Service’s code name for Biden is allegedly “Assassination Insurance”.

I guess we need to legislate a mandatory intelligence test to qualify people as VP candidates.

It’s good to hear that you “used to be” one of them. Glad you – escaped, is that the right word? Saw the light?

        • Anonymous

Thank you! I think was delivered is the actuality. Somehow I was brought into the company of wiser friends and thankfully it rubbed off.

Getting the word out can involve just loving those pitiful waifs like I was until they (we) understand their value and can begin to participate in society as a whole person. I have to say it was developing a personal relationship with Jesus and the Holy Spirit that made all the difference.

          • Anonymous

Amen. “The fear (reverential awe) of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”

Many years ago “The Persecutor”, the autobiography of a Russian defector, was published. The author, Sergei Kourdakov, was an orphan brought up in the Communist Youth program. Finding him a natural leader and over-achiever, they put him in charge of a sort of police auxiliary unit of similar young men, and eventually trained his unit to arrest and beat up Christians. He detailed how they sold it to him under the guise of protecting Russia from evil forces. But one time he was left alone with confiscated Scripture, and when he read it, he thought, “This isn’t about revolution. This is about how to be a better citizen.”

That was the beginning of his road to a personal encounter with the Resurrected Lord and his defection from Russia.

We who are believers have walked many different roads, but we are all journeying toward Heaven. Like the old hymn says, “Some through the fire, some through the flood, some through the famine, but all through the Blood.”

            See you in Heaven.

            • Anonymous

Yes! I celebrate seeing you in heaven, too!

Thank you, W’man. Your message touched me deeply several times but most profoundly with the words of the Lord himself at the very beginning.

I am beginning to appreciate a humble and contrite spirit and the vast power that can go with that.

Our pastor has been preaching about the Fear of the Lord, for about 3 Sundays now. It ended with blessing, security, boldness (confidence)! wisdom, intimacy with the great I am.

I can hardly wait!! but right here, right now has become pretty fine, too.

Isn’t it just so reminiscent of Saul of Tarsus?

              • Anonymous

                Yes.

There’s an unrecognized part of Saul’s / Paul’s story: when King Jesus confronted Saul on the Damascus Road, He said to Saul, “It’s hard for you to kick against the (goads / prods).” These are cattle herder’s tools, short-handled iron-tipped “cattle prods”. In India the name for them is “ankh”.

What was hard about it? I believe that Saul had seen that Christians were not evil or lunatics, but just good citizens – much as Sergei Kourdakov saw when he read the Word. I think Saul’s conscience was eating him alive, but he was a fanatic about following the Law of Moses. In Philippians 3:6, Paul said that he himself was “regarding the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.”

Saul couldn’t bring himself to allow what he saw as an idolatrous sect to continue unchallenged, but the character of the Christians kept bludgeoning his conscience. He was in agony. When he realized that King Jesus was in fact the Messiah Whom the prophets had foretold, the pieces of the puzzle began to fall into place, and he found peace and forgiveness.

One wishes you a blessed day.
