Israeli military strikes Gaza, targeting militants

JERUSALEM — The Israeli military says artillery and aircraft have fired at Palestinian militants preparing to launch an antitank missile at Israeli soldiers patrolling the Israel-Gaza border.

Gaza health official Dr. Ashraf el-Kidra says three people were wounded in Thursday’s attack, including one man who was critically hurt.

The Palestinians had no immediate information on their identities, so it was not clear whether they were militants or civilians.

The Israeli military says the men were militants from Gaza’s ruling Hamas group.

Military bulldozers were leveling land in the buffer area along the border, and tank machine guns were firing, as they sometimes do to warn nearby farmers to stay away.
