I really wanted to trim this clip down even more, to hone in on a few things. But really, it’s all right up the same alley. Carney gets hit first by Tapper on the bill actually failing in the Senate due to bipartisan support, but Carney won’t accept that and continues to say Republicans are ‘blocking’ it and blames the filibuster. Given this, a second reporter asks Carney if Obama has given up on Republicans and is thus taking his argument “campaign style” to the American people in states critical to his reelection. Carney didn’t much care for that characterization by saying “I know it sticks in your craw that the President actually leaves Washington and goes out and talks to the American people…”

Ed Henry furthers the ‘Obama not working with Republicans’ theme by asking why the President doesn’t come back to Washington and get the Republicans together to work out a bill that will pass. Carney, once again defensive, says that it’s Congress’ job to act now, insinuating that Obama has already acted and that the ball is in their court. And lastly, just when you hear Henry ask about GDP numbers, don’t worry. The conversation quickly comes back to Republicans blocking the bill at which point Jake Tapper challenges Carney by saying that Democrats didn’t even have 50 votes to pass the bill in the Senate. After wrangling over the cloture vote, Carney finally gives an answer based in fantasy saying that if the bill had gotten to a vote, it would have passed.

This is what you can get away with when you have the MSM in your back pocket. The MSM has successfully blamed everything on the GOP. The Democrats are blocking this bill. This is your country people and it is being run by Marxist radicals and attorneys. The AMerican people will never see this “grilling” or hear anything about it.

One-bama’s approval is at 44% on RCP. How is this even possible?

“If you don’t pass this bill, the world will end next year.” Sad.

“Carney, once again defensive, says that it’s Congress’ job to act now…”

I guess Carney did not get the Democrat talking points. He was supposed to say, “It’s the Republican Congress’ job to act now.”

On a side not, I saw Paul Ryan with Greta van Susteren discussing the same topic, and she kept asking Ryan why, if the House had passed all of these bills, he could not get the Senate to act, as if Ryan was responsible for the Senate’s failure to act. I was practically screaming at the TV, “Why don’t you have Harry Reid on the show and ask HIM that same question?”

Sooooo,,,,,,,when the President asked the ‘American people’ to call your representatives to pass this jobs bill and vote ‘yes’ ONLY. Then it really is the Congress that has gone ‘rogue’ in his humble opinion?

When will Boehner stand in front of the podium and say; ‘Mr. President the people have been calling us and we are indeed acting according to THEIR opinion. And I gotta say, WE are not the only ones who thinks your jobs bill stinks’!!!!!

I get so sick of them using that term the ‘American people’ have voiced their opinion in favor of this or that. I don’t know what group of the ‘American people’ they are polling,,,,,but good gravy get out of the smoke filled room once in a while. Cause the intern pool doesn’t count. They raise their hands so they can keep their crappy positions hoping you will hire them for real.

This independent is against the jobs bill, and I’m really annoyed that only one Senator I am aware of who has bothered to make the statement – teachers and first responders should be paid for at the state / local level (funded by property and local sales taxes). Thank you Senator Pryor now ask yourselves, why won’t the GOP say that? If CA had to lay off thousands of teachers because the chose to pay for “other priorities” (think CA Dream Act), then the other 49 states should not foot the bill.

The jobs bill I support is to unleash the energy sector, let’s give that a try, all in, fossil fuels included. Private sector jobs such as those in the energy sector are sustainable and will add to the local tax base. Teachers and first responders will be let go in a year when federal money runs out. GOP leadership is weak.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Paul-Strauss/1213003351 Paul Strauss

The GOP has said they are against the jobs bill for a number of reasons, such it increases the debt, fails to fund social security thereby increasing the government’s unfunded obligations, won’t create jobs, etc. While I agree with your argument, I think it is more important that the GOP take the right position than make a specific argument, particularly when the media makes it so difficult for the GOP to get it’s message out.

As far as the energy sector is concerned, the best way to stimulate that sector is for the government to ease their ridiculous regulations on permits, drilling, building new nuclear plans, building new coal plants, building new refineries, etc. To create jobs we need to unleash the private sector, not use government investment to try to pick winners and losers. The Obama administration has already done that in the last round of “stimulus” by creating “green jobs” (see Solyndra, et al), and we now see what that was all about. The only beneficiaries of government stimulus are interest groups (unions, corporate cronies) and the politicians themselves (power and fundraising).

      • Anonymous

I could have worded my comment better, when I said unleash the energy sector, I meant exactly what you stated, ease regulations, issue permits…and the GOP has taken this position but they need to be more vocal about it.

As to opposing the jobs bill, the GOP needs to educate the public, I am amazed at how many people believe teachers, police and firefighters are funded by federal tax dollars. Elected officials are the ones who are interviewed and they need to use every opportunity to educate the viewers. The Left keeps driving their message tax the rich to reduce the deficit and most of the uninformed electorate buy into that message. We need Paul Ryan, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul and other conservatives doing interviews daily, they can articulate the message.

I too oppose the jobs bill for several reasons, no more spending is the main one, all I am saying is educate, educate, educate, those who post here are informed and we are too few in numbers, those who vote based on 30 sec sound bites…pass this bill, evil GOP don’t want to hire teachers are much higher in numbers and they vote. The debt / deficit discussion has been significantly reduced, the media is on the tax the rich talking points and many in the public have bought into that messsage.

I was sent this email about obama using executive order to push the jobs bill through on a weekly-basis until her gets it through.

    MILLER: Obama’s one-man show
President unveils lawless scheme to bypass Congress with executive orders
    By Emily Miller
    The Washington Times
    Monday, October 24, 2011
President Obama officially declared Congress irrelevant on Monday. Instead of following the proper legislative process, he’s going to rule by executive orders issued once per week for the rest of the year. “We don’t have to wait for Congress, we’re just going to go ahead and act on our own,” said Mr. Obama.
The president is upset that his Democratic Senate balked at his $467 billion American Jobs Act both as a whole and broken up into smaller tax-and-stimulus bills. So he’s going to bypass democracy and try to rule by fiat.

Todd Gaziano, director of the Heritage Foundation’s Center for Legal and Judicial Studies, pointed out that releasing the orders one at a time raises questions. “If these are legal and would significantly help the economy, it raises a question about his competence for not issuing them all at once and doing it a year or two ago,” he said. “It leads me to believe that these executive orders are either much more questionable legally or much less effective than they purport to be.”

Mr. Obama’s new slogan is, “We can’t wait.” Unfortunately for him, the Constitution says he has to. If Mr. Obama wants to enact a far-left agenda, he’s going to have to convince the public to send him a majority in the House. Otherwise, this is a constitutional showdown Republicans in Congress need to win.

His name isnt Carney for nothing. what a side show spectacle. To me the reporters are the same as the kids in the fairy tail of The Emperor has no Clothes yelling out among the crowds, “The emperor has NO CLOTHES!” But is anyone listening anymore? I sure hope so. And not the kid of HOPE Obama has been pushing.

this Jay Carney look much dislike listening to his own voice and himself, he may have reminded himself that he is full blown retard the way he answers questions, and America don’t notice. Majority of the country’s population DO NOT APPROVE OF THE JOB bill Proposal.Dems are trying to force this job bill down our throat the way they forced Obama Care. Stay awake folks, the DEVIL is a big mouth accuser of the brethrens, Devil is a big mouth Liar and a Thief that need no permission to act or to do things legally.
I am getting angry at such foolishness

If President Obama really wants to convince the American people he cares about us, he should start by hiring a Press Secretary who a) doesn’t insult the intelligence of every sentient being every time he opens his mouth and b) is better at hiding his contempt for humanity.

It doesn’t matter what Carney says, I know by his smirk that he believes the people he’s addressing are too stupid to figure out he’s full of crap.

  • Keith Ent

Hey RS, you need to figure out a way to police your ads… It sucks to have a conservative site with a leftist ad just above the comments section. Very distracting. Never thought I’d miss the Carney’s predecessor, but at least the guy with the big head had a sense of humor.

    • Anonymous

I disagree. The agenda of the left needs to be fully exposed.

  • Anonymous

He said one thing that is right, “Republicans react to what the American people want” which is why they are passing bills (16 at last count) in the house (being held up in the senate) and putting a hold on BO legislation.

This kid carney is waaaaaaay out of his league. The reporters must really be getting tired of being BS’d daily…especially from a moron like carney.

  • Anonymous

Where does he come up with this idea that the majority of American people support BOs job bill? I haven’t seen any polls that suggest that…and I’m not living in a closet. The only place I hear it are from liars like carney and a Debbie blabbermouth Schultz.

  • Josh

I liked it when he said “blue, purple, and red”. So he went to the Republican states, the Democrat states, and SEIU…

I guess if Obama can’t figure-out how to work with Republicans, we need a new president. Simple.
