Jay Carney's refusal to say that Jerusalem is the capital is technically correct, although the American public would be infuriated by it. Every President from Harry S Truman onward has recognized Tel Aviv as the capital, which is why our embassy is there and has been since 1966
One may bring up the Jerusalem Embassy Act, which passed with 91 percent support in the House and 95 percent support in the Senate, but the Justice Department contention is that in spite of its popularity, the law is unconstitutional.
Goods post. I think Israel should get to decide where it's capital is and everyone else should respect that decision.

This assclown's buffoonery should trigger a boycott. Reporters should refuse to cover Obama's speeches and appearances, until he starts providing speakers that will respect the Press Corps, and stop playing games like this. They all should've started shouting demands that he answer the damned question, and if he refused, they should've declared the press conference OVER, and walked out.
This makes my blood boil. So help me, the Romney advisers must INSIST that the very first opportunity in a debate, Mitt MUST directly ask Obama this exact same question.
This answer should put Obama in "solid" with Jewish voters. I don't have a clue as to why any Jew would vote for Obama these days, espcially if they care about what's going to happen to Israel next year. The crisis with Iran is going to come to a head in 2013 and we had better be prepared for it. If Romney is president in 2013, I know which side we're coming down on and it will be a big help to Israel. If Obama wins, I don't even know if Israel will be around this time next year.

The not-so-thinly-veiled anti semitism of the left... This is an example of their "unshakable commitment" to Israel, they won't even acknowledge what Israeli's consider to be their capital. Judging by his actions for the past few years, he has an even stronger commitment to the countries looking to destroy them.
Like a ripe pimple on an oily face, Jay Carney speaks and acts just as grossly as the master he serves. And America needs to pop these pimples and squeeze them right out onto the streets.
I use the gross "pimple" metaphor because these people are irritating infections and just like the pimple, what is inside them is gangrenous and vulgar.

Agreed. This is something Newt would have slammed in his response by now. Come on Mitt! I know you are overseas and do not want to bash our sitting president while overseas. I get that and I respect that. But you can still make a comment while you are in Israel in a few days that will address your stance that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.
