Typical liberal hypocrisy. When the left rallies against wars, policies, or injustice, it is an example of civil discourse in action. People expressing their first amendment rights. When the Tea Party rallies for fiscal responsibility and economic recovery they are labeled terrorist, thugs, raciest, homophobes who want to destroy America.
Hoffa knows the gravy train is coming to an end, he can't stand on facts so he demonizes the Tea Party to take focus off of reality. Unions have been hololding manufacturing companies hostage and forced higher than market wages and pension
plans that were unsustainable long term. Government agencies and departments from Fed, State and Local jumped on that Union band wagon and negotiated salaries and pensions way out of line with the private economy. Tax payers can no longer afford to pay the demands of the union thugs. So, like all mafia thugs they are resorting to violence, and Obama is applauding their efforts.
Steprock-it's out and out fear that has them on the run and bringing out the heavy artillery. they know their days are numbered with the American people and when you can't sway "Joe the Plumber" with their abysmal record, when you can't argue facts, you resort to the Saul Alinsky playbook and call them names, incite hatred and yes, even violence.

I understand what you are saying, Steprock but Hoffa and his ilk have "declared war" on the Republicans and Tea Partiers.
Civil discourse, Knee Jerk reaction? No. Exposure of what their true intentions are - yes. He may have been talking about union members and voting but he should have limited his remarks to that.
They are desperate animals cornered, doing and saying anything to keep their tenuous hold on power. They know Obama is tanking and is highly unpopular with the average American so, like any good henchmen, they are doing what they have to in order to prop their boss up.
After all, Richard Trumka brags about his weekly calls to Obama, the unions such as SEIU are donating heavily to Obama, so they are quite worried that a Republican/Tea Party government all the way to the POTUS will clip their wings.

When we see thugs like Hoffa and Trumka in power, when they call people SOB's, when we see what happened in Wisconsin, and here in Canada with our postal workers recently holding us hostage by going on strike, it's no wonder the average person dislikes unions and what they now stand for.

Watching this again (I must be a sucker for punishment) It made me laugh. He keeps referring to "working people" as if referring to all those hard workin' union members. Interesting, since every time I've seen union members lately are on the news either picketting, having a so called rally or screaming at people. How are they able to work when they spend so much time doing things other than...working?

Yet another case of do as we say not as we do from this administration. Preach about how we have to limit the trans fats and other options when it comes to the food we eat yet the POTUS and FLOTUS each love to go out and eat 1500 calorie burgers and ice cream. Preach to us about having civil tone when it comes to talking to and about your opponent yet they turn around and call the Tea Party terrorists and then deny it was said.
He may be but that's no excuse for what he said and no excuse for the President not immediately calling his down for what he said. We have now had Union bosses, Congress m/w, the VP and Pres speaking 'nasty talk' about and to the Tea Party people and it must stop. This is bordering on being un-american, un-patriotic.
Obama and the left are trying to make this election a fight between the TP movement and Obama -- don't let that happen -- this is between the candidate that we pick in the primaries and Obama. They are using this as a detraction, we must focus on his RECORD and the record of the left/right in Congress -- Both
must be replaced. We also need to focus on the local, county, and state level and replace the libs with conservatives and put our government at ALL levels back in the hands of the people.

At the risk of offending someone,This is exactly what I have been posting about for the last six months. We the conservative right are always being told to turn the other cheek, ignore the pablum coming from the left, just walk away when confronted by these types, don't post anything that could be construed as violent.
Yet these so called citizens can come out and blatantly state that they are at war with us.
Well now my comments are being reviewed prior to posting because I simply state the obvious, there is only one way to deal with a bully, and that is with overwhelming brute force with no apology upon victory.

The perception given is that the Unions are the "only" workers in America and the Tea Party Americans do not work. If I am not mistaken, doesn't the Unions "only" make up 12-13% and take more in benefits and fat salaries. I'm confused (ok I'm not) but the facts show who really pays the bills and it certainly is not the Unions - their wallets only get bigger. The rhetoric never matches. They count on and prey on the stupidity/amnesia of voters and use them to keep them in office and rich. It's so blatant.
It amazes me how some people can be so blind and fooled. I think the good news is that the Majority see right through it and are tired of it and are more than ready.
