He was popular, had more experience the in government and the military, and was a known quantity. Obama was an inexperienced single term freshman senator. There was nothing in his resume to suggest he was remotely ready to be president. Obama won by promising to be all things to all people. He won by promising hope and change. Things would be different. Seemingly intractable problems would be solved.

Gitmo. Whether you think it is an abomination or a necessity, people expected something. Instead Obama will say he hates it, then keep it open indefinitely.

Wars. Win it or quit it, Obama can't seem to decide which.

The financial meltdown. Any progress in making changes so it doesn't happen again?

The budget. Now that we are in a massive recession it is the perfect time to propose even more spending.

Racial issues: Being objective, has Obama made things better, or on several instances made things worse?

Do our allies love us more? (no). Are our enemies more discomforted (no).

On every issue, every problem, Obama has decided to either stay the course, make no decision at all, or make the worst possible decision. He has paid off his friends just like any other pol. He has wasted his time on things (the Olympics, foreign trips, etc.) that have no tangible value and benefit. He has consistently disengaged from the issues that people care about most.

People sense there is a crises, but Mr. Cool just dispassionately lets things drift toward oblivion. He either doesn't understand the problems or just doesn't much care.

Stewart doesn't get it either. GM, Chrysler, Citbank, AIG fall, and we're not supposed to be worried? Liberals complained that Iraq was a distraction from Afghanistan. Perhaps. But can't they see that everything that Obama has done or tried to do has been a distraction from the real problems facing this country? Yes, health care needs to be fixed. Is that the priority right this minute, to the exclusion of all else? Okay, say we fix health care. Why are things like tort reform immediately off the table? "Not that big a deal, maybe only a 5% savings". 5% of what? $2 trillion? "It is too hard to face down the trial lawyers" Sez who? And isn't that exactly what we elected you to do? Isn't Obama the magic man?

And that is why people are going nuts. We bought this pig in a poke and have just realized how badly swindled we have been.

It is going to get worse, not better. Obama promised extraordinary, and delivered less than ordinary. And there will be a bloodbath for the Dems in the next election. A third party may even form.

And liberals like Stewart just don't get it. That is because their most critical problems have been solved Get rid of Bush. Mission accomplished! Elect a black man! Mission accomplished! Everything that comes after is just boring policy details. So why is everyone so upset?

This has been building for several election cycles now. John Anderson. Ross Perot. Heck, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama all won against entrenched, better known politicians. These guys got votes because they were supposed to change the status quo. It hasn't happened yet, and the patience of the American people is wearing awfully thing right now.

I exect we'll get even more radical in our presidential selections in the future.

I'll do you one better.

By any conceivable objective measure John McCain should have one the presidency during the previous election.
