Karl Rove is a smart man, but he continues to deride Perry for comments he did not make. Rick Perry did not accuse Bernanke of a crime punishable by death, as Rove puts it. Here’s exactly what Perry said:
If this guy prints more money between now and the election, I don’t know what y’all would do to him in Iowa but we would treat him pretty ugly down in Texas. Printing more money to play politics at this particular time in American history is almost
treacherous— er treasonous in my opinion.
Note the use of the word ‘almost’. He did not accuse him of treason. Seriously, we aren’t talking semantics here. Perry was simply underlining the seriousness of doing such a thing simply for politics. Yet Karl Rove continues to accuse Perry of something he did not do.
